Nanni Moretti in Stable Condition After Suffering Heart Attack in Rome
Italian auteur Nanni Moretti suffered a heart attack on Wednesday and is reportedly in intensive care in stable condition, according to Italian news reports.
The 71-year-old idiosyncratic director, actor and screenwriter, who won the 2001 Palme D'Or at the Cannes Film Festival for 'The Son's Room,' was rushed in the afternoon to Rome's San Camillo hospital where he underwent surgery. Italian news agency Ansa reported that he was in stable condition.

Moretti previously suffered a mild heart attack in October last year.
Known as an acerbic moralist and social commentator, Moretti most recently competed in Cannes in 2023 with high-concept meta-comedy 'A Brighter Tomorrow,' in which he stars as a Roman director who is shooting a period piece set in Rome in 1956.
Before being hospitalized he was in pre-production on a new film, details of which are not known.
Moretti has often constructed his films around his own persona, appearing as the central character, starting with his 1976 Super-8 debut 'Io Sono un'Autarchico' and its follow-up, 'Ecce Bombo,' which humorously captured the discontent gripping Italy in the bleak 1970s, and, of course, the autobiografical 'Caro Diario,' 1994, which marked his international breakthrough. Subsequent standout works comprise scathing 2006 Silvio Berlusconi satire 'The Caiman' and 'We Have a Pope' in which he depicted a Pontiff's crisis of faith.
Moretti last month attended a retrospective of his work at the Bari International Film & TV Festival in southern Italy.
He was celebrated in 2024 with a Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival for the restaured version of 'Ecce Bombo' which screened in the Venice Classics section.

Amal Clooney Channeled Rita Hayworth With Bouncy Waves at the 2025 Tony Awards
All products featured on Glamour are independently selected by Glamour editors. However, when you buy something through our retail links, Condé Nast may earn an affiliate there's one thing Amal Clooney is going to do, she's going to show up with some of the best glam at any event. From gala looks to her recent Cannes Film Festival dress-code-breaking style, Clooney goes all out on the red carpet—and looks good doing it. And her appearance at the Tony Awards was no different. At this year's 78th annual Tony Awards, held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on June 8, Clooney walked the red carpet in an Old Hollywood–style pearl-adorned dress with a big, glam blowout to match. Though she was there to support husband George Clooney, who was nominated for best performance by an actor in a leading role in a play for his performance as Edward Murrow in Good Night, and Good Luck (it was also his Broadway debut!), Amal Clooney really stole the show. We've been saying that super-long waves are back for the season, and based on last night's look, it looks as though Clooney is on board with it too. Channeling 1940s actor Rita Hayworth, celebrity hairstylist and colorist Dimitris Giannetos created her glamorous look for the evening. 'Inspired by the pearls [on her dress] and Old Hollywood dress, I wanted to give her classic Rita Hayworth glam,' Giannetos said in a press release. And that he did: Clooney walked the carpet with big, bouncy, and loose waves, showing off some bronde highlights to brighten things up around her face. Her hair's slight side part further let her inner Rita Hayworth shine through. To get the look, he 'started with towel-dried hair and blow-dried it using a round brush to create volume,' Giannetos explained in the release. Then, 'I placed her hair in rollers and let them set.' He left the rollers in until her makeup was done. The longer you leave hair rollers in, the curlier your hair will look and the longer-lasting the waves will be. 'Once makeup was done, I removed the rollers and brushed out her hair using a paddle brush,' Giannetos further explained. 'To hold the style and keep everything frizz-free for the red carpet, I finished with plenty of L'Oréal Paris Elnett Hairspray.' He didn't say exactly which Elnett spray he used, but we love the original scented version of the hairspray (if you want to wear a perfume or hair mist, opt for the unscented one). $16.00, Amazon Usually celebs have separate hair and makeup artists to do their glam before an event, but Clooney kept things streamlined and simple for the Tony Awards. Giannetos was on double duty last night—not only did he create that Old Hollywood hair, but he also did her makeup in between. So while her hair was setting in rollers, he went in with Charlotte Tilbury products to complete the vintage glam look. 'The vibe we were going for was a soft Old Hollywood glamour with neutral coral tones,' Giannetos said in the release. After her skin was prepped with products, including editor-loved Charlotte's Magic Cream, he used Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint Hydrating Foundation and Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray, among other makeup products, for a radiant, healthy glow that lasted Clooney all night. $38.00, Nordstrom $65.00, Sephora Catharine Malzahn is the contributing associate beauty editor at Glamour. An Ode to Natalie Portman's Rich Mom French Open Look
Do you ever look at someone and just think, Wow, they look rich? That was my immediate first though when I spotted Natalie Portman looking like the epitome of sophistication at the French Open this past weekend. The actor was among the many notable attendees who attended the tennis tournament finals at the Roland-Garros Complex in Paris. Others included Cooper Koch, Lily Collins and husband Charlie McDowell, and Pharrell Williams with wife Helen Lasichanh were among the attendees. But Portman took the cake with her posh look. Up top, she embraced tennis whites in a crisp white button-up with a sharp collar that she turned upwards for an extra ounce of preppiness. The Black Swan star tucked her shirt into a pretty bubblegum-pink poplin skirt with a built-in belt. The chic ensemble was only made better by Portman's accessories: square brown tortoiseshell sunglasses, and a straw hat from Christian Dior, adorned with a blue-and-white sash emblazoned with the fashion house's name. The men's singles final match took place on Sunday, June 8, on day 15 of the French Open. Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz bested Italian Jannik Sinner, marking his second straight French Open win. Meanwhile, a day prior, American Coco Gauff won the women's singles finals, where she played against world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, from Belarus. With the win, Gauff claimed her second career grand slam singles title and became the first American to take home the French Open prize since Serena Williams did so in 2015. Mubi CEO on Pushing Into Production and That Huge Cannes Haul
Arthouse streamer and distributor Mubi is planning to work on not more than 12 movies annually but is already up to 15 movies this year after a hot streak picking up a slew of Cannes Film Festival buzz titles – and the Venice Film Festival has not even started yet, CEO and founder Efe Cakarel told SXSW London on Friday in an energetic appearance that had the crowd engaged late in a busy week. Cakarel shared his love of the cinema-going experience early in his appearance, saying, 'I really focus on theatrical,' and 'I am very committed to these films getting as wide a release in cinemas as possible.' More from The Hollywood Reporter Canal+ to Distribute Netflix in Francophone Africa in Landmark Pact Enzo Staiola, Child Star in Vittorio De Sica's 'Bicycle Thieves,' Dies at 85 Wes Anderson Shares How Indian Cinema Legend Satyajit Ray Shaped His Aesthetic Last year, Mubi released The Substance globally, he highlighted. 'It turns out distribution is not rocket science,' Cakarel concluded, adding that the firm is launching theatrical in Italy next. Mubi was on a streak at Cannes, picking up rights in select markets to competition titles The Secret Agent from writer and director Kleber Mendonça Filho, Sentimental Value, Joachim Trier's latest feature, Mascha Schilinski's Sound of Falling (In Die Sonne Schauen), and Lynne Ramsay's Jennifer Lawrence-Robert Pattinson starrer Die My Love. The latter deal came with a $24 million price tag, the biggest known and announced during the festival. He joked that his team is 'freaking out' after Mubi's strong Cannes run – in a good way. Production is also a big new area for the company after Mubi debuted its first production at Cannes, namely Kelly Reichardt's The Mastermind. 'We want to produce more' great films and series, he shared. Mubi is, for example, a co-producer on the new Jim Jarmusch movie, Father Mother Sister Brother, which stars Cate Blanchett, Vicky Krieps, Adam Driver, Mayim Bialik, Tom Waits, Charlotte Rampling, Indya Moore, and Luka Sabbat. Cakarel mentioned on Friday that it is set to screen at Venice. Cakarel also shared on Friday that Mubi was 'profitable' by 2020. With 60 percent first-quarter 2020 subscriber growth amid the COVID pandemic, the company experienced strong cash flow growth, which allowed Mubi to invest and grow further. The company's headcount has also grown to 400 people in 15 countries, he explained. The company has increasingly picked up movies not only for streaming but also for theatrical distribution. Mubi chief content officer Jason Ropell highlighted the role of streaming in the indie film space last year, saying: 'The streaming component of the ecosystem has actually broadened the audience for multiple kinds of film, including independent film. There's a generation of viewers, of customers, of cinephiles that have been exposed to films, which they would not have but for that technology, for the access to streaming.'Last year, Mubi acquired The Substance at Cannes, prepping the title for what would go on to be an Oscar run for Coralie Fargeat's body horror thriller.
