Primark's 'chic' £26 sandals look 'just like' £158 luxury version

Daily Mirror03-05-2025
The new Primark sandals look similar to a designer version - but there's a huge price difference
Primark is selling a new pair of sandals that look very similar a more expensive version. Renowned for delivering budget-friendly trends in fashion and homeware, the popular retailer looks to have unveiled another hit among shoppers.
The Edit Footbed Sandals bear an uncanny likeness to luxury label Rollie's own interpretation, yet comes with a much smaller price tag. Shoppers can pick up Primark's version for £26, in stark contrast to the high-end piece currently fetching $209.95 (around £158) online.

Both bags share key features such as a moulded footbed, cork underlay, a flat sole, and an open, rounded toe. They both have similar crossover straps and similar colourways available.

However, there are some differences in the two designs. The Primark shoes have suede-effect straps, with a gold-tone bar in the middle, while the designer version does not.
Primark's full product description reads: "Take every step in style with these Footbed Sandals from The Edit – where fashion meets all day comfort! These slip-on sandals feature suede-effect straps with elegant detailing for a touch of glamour.
"The adjustable fastening ensures a secure fit, while the sole provides grip for easy all-day wear. Pair them with your favourite summer dress or relaxed denim for a chic, laid-back look. Ready to strut in style?"
The designer description reads: "Craving stylish comfort? The RHODES CROSS SLIDE by Rollie are essential casual sandals that can be worn day or night, keeping you energised and summer-ready all day long."
Primark's The Edit Footbed Sandals are priced at £26, while the Rollie Rhodes Cross Slide Rustic Brown Slides come in at $209.95 (around £158). This means shoppers could save around £132 by opting for the budget shoes.
The Primark shoes, which are described as where "luxe meets comfort", are available in sizes three to eight, in either black or camel. Shoppers can check stock levels in their nearest store here.

'This is my dream,' raved one fan in the comments. Another admitted they were 'running to Primark' to snap it up. The only catch is that the collection has been spotted in stores across the UK, but it hasn't landed on Primark's website, so you'll need to head in person if you want to bag a bottle. New-season styles are hitting the high st & these are the pieces our fashion editors are buying before they sell out

THE UK is gearing up for another heatwave, but our favourite high-street brands are already thinking ahead. So although we won't be folding away our summer staples just yet, sale season is drawing to a close, and in its place the high street is beginning to drop new-season collections already. There's a fresh wave of transitional pieces arriving in-store and online this week and our fashion editors have been keeping a close eye to curate an edit of their favourite pieces. And it's safe to say we're impressed. Think lightweight knits ideal for layering, along with great woven bag dupes and even footwear is experiencing a seasonal refresh as new styles hit the shelves. So whether you're looking for a wardrobe refresh ahead of autumn or just want to bag the best pieces before they sell out, now is the perfect time to start browsing, as these top picks won't hang around for long. Clemmie Fieldsend, 35, Fashion Editor As much as I hate to wish summer away, seeing new transitional pieces for autumn makes me happy. I stopped in my tracks, well, mid-scroll, when I saw this River Island jumper on my screen. The tie neck and lightweight knit makes it look so premium, as does this Primark bag, which is a double for designer brand Dragon Diffusions' £440 style - what a saving at just £14! A splurge would be this suede Mint Velvet skirt. Suede isn't going anywhere for autumn and I can wear this midi style now, in the winter and for years to come, so I'll definitely get my money's worth. Fashion lovers rush to M&S to snap up perfect pumps that are 'so pretty' for summer - and they come in various colours to match your vibe I've surprised myself with how much I like these suede tie ballerinas from Zara, not something I'd ever consider going for but the neutral, subtle colour and trainer laces are calling me - and I love them. Finally, I keep seeing Bambi print pop up here, there and everywhere, so I'll be snapping up this T-shirt shaped dress from M&S to get ahead of the trend before it kicks off - and before the dress sells out. Abby McHale, 31, Deputy Fashion Editor 3 The high street is starting to drip feed its new-season stock, meaning now is the perfect time to get ahead of the game and purchase pieces that are to be a sure fire hit, before they sell out. I'm loving all the shades of brown that are coming through for the new season, and this blazer from Next is already on lots of people's radar. Brown suede blazers were all the rage last season and this dark chocolate shade is a new update. Argyle is a pattern trickling through to the high street from the catwalks, and this one is a steal at just £20 from Tu Clothing at Sainsbury's. And if you're in the market for a pair of on-trend trainers but you don't want to spend hundreds of pounds, then this pair from H&M is just £32.99! Emily Regan, 25, Fashion Assistant As much as I love my summer wardrobe, I'm an autumn girl at heart - so I was thrilled to see new-season styles are hitting the high street already. I've learned the hard way that the best pieces often drop early and then sell out quickly - that was the case with this gorgeous suede bag from Next, so I'm really pleased that it's relaunched this year. The same goes for George at ASDA's viral leopard-print puffer coat - this year's is a different shape but in the same Ganni-inspired print - and it's already sitting in my wardrobe for when it starts to get chillier outside. I've also got my eye on the latest New Balance 204L shoes - they're a great dupe for the Miu Miu collab at a fraction of a cost. They're tipped to be the next It-girl trainers, but they're selling fast so keep an eye out for restocks and be sure to set a reminder!

5 big global brands coming to Dubai malls: Skims, Haribo, Ulta and more

There's no getting away from it, we all love something new. And Dubai is the place to be for new stuff. From beloved sweet brands to celebrity-backed fashion labels, any brand worth knowing needs to be in a Dubai mall. During our recent trips to some of the city's biggest malls, we've noticed some very exciting storefront façades popping up. Here are the best ones worth keeping an eye out for. Haribo The iconic gummy brand is launching a first-of-its-kind concept, Haribo Happy World, which promises to be a fun universe consisting of four zones – each celebrating all things Haribo. First up, the Experience will tell the fascinating story behind Haribo's legendary treats, while the Retail Store will stock exclusive merchandise and delicious gummy creations. Meanwhile, the F&B Outlet will offer Haribo-inspired treats and tasty confections while the dedicated Birthday Room is primed for kids to celebrate their special days. Harbibo Happy World will eventually open its doors in Dubai Festival City Mall. Primark After years of speculation, Primark is finally coming to Dubai and three flagship stores have already been announced. The best part? The prices will still remain the same. Primark's the go-to UK fashion shop where you can sift through loads of options (essentially a grown-up treasure hunt) and score stylish styles at generously low prices. It's one of the few places where you could snap up a full outfit, a Harry Potter duvet cover, a novelty mug and a pack of micellar cleansing wipes in one lunchtime dash. Expect to see Primark open its first Dubai store in the first few months of 2026. Skims Kim Kardashian's shapewear brand Skims is set to open its first physical Dubai store at Mall of the Emirates. The brand has only been available to Dubai shoppers via Ounass until now, and is very likely to be a hit once it opens. The brand promotes body positivity with its sculpting bodysuits and comfortable loungewear. No formal announcement has been made for when we can expect the store to open, but eagle-eyed shoppers at Mall of the Emirates can see the store's façade when they visit. Ulta Top American beauty brand Ulta is set to open its first Dubai store at Mall of the Emirates by the end of 2025, according to regional retail franchise operator Alshaya Group. The brand first announced that it was coming to the region back in January with stores also set to open in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia in the near future. Ulta stores will offer a broad portfolio of brands across price points and categories. The brand sells 'All Things Beauty. All in One Place' and will include prestige, indie and drugstore beauty products. And a new branch of Nando's coming soon Everyone's favourite South African-Portuguese peri-peri chicken specialist is set to open another Dubai chain at Mall of the Emirates. A storefront façade has been spotted by shoppers in the mall, but there's no timescale for when this latest spot will open its doors.
