Avika Gor, best known as Anandi from the TV show Balika Vadhu, recently got engaged to her longtime boyfriend, corporate professional Milind Chandwani, in a close-knit ceremony.

She shares, 'Milind is my soulmate. He is mature and balanced, and we waited for a long time to get engaged. It was his idea that we should get to know each other well, and that's why we waited for many years. I wanted to keep it a low-key affair, and so there were only family members present.' She adds, 'We'll soon set a wedding date. We plan to get married by the end of this year.'
The couple has been in a long-distance relationship, with Milind based in Bengaluru and Avika in Mumbai.
'It's not easy. We both travel a lot for work. But I've learnt that a good companion is someone who's also your best friend and supports your dreams. Milind has always been supportive. When people recognise me as Anandi and pull my cheeks, he clicks pictures — he's proud of me. He brings stability to my spontaneous nature.
' Post marriage, Avika has no plans to move to a different city. She said, 'Just because my work is here, I would not want Milind to move to Mumbai either.
I travel a lot for my South films, and Milind's parents stay in Hyderabad, so that will give me a chance to spend time with them.'
'Not a PR strategy'
The engagement coincides with their participation in a reality show based on couples. Ask her if it's just a coincidence, and she says, 'I didn't want to announce the engagement because of the show, but then I thought, why not just go with it? It's not a PR strategy, just a coincidence.' Along with her acting projects, Avika turned producer with the Telugu film Popcorn. 'Just like my engagement, my production house is a dream come true.
I'm happy with the path I've carved in showbiz,' she signs off.

Nagarjuna doesn't believe in narrative of south films doing better than Hindi: ‘It can't be fantastic all the time'
Actor Nagarjuna is not one of those who believe that the southern film industries are somehow faring better than Bollywood. In an interview with Galatta Plus, he spoke about why he sees a bright future for the Hindi film industry while Tollywood might see a down period. It's like an actor or director had four or five years of bad times. Everything cumulative probably happened there, and films didn't work. And then they say the whole film industry is gone. In my time, in the Telugu film industry, it has happened four times. And I believe the fourth time will come now, very soon. I'm very sure, it's my hunch.' He was then asked if, like producer Naga Vamsi, he believes it'll be a bloodbath in Tollywood, and he disagreed. 'It's not going to be a bloodbath, but you'll see films like Tourist Family in Tamil or Court in Telugu working so well, or Anaganaga on OTT. All these thrillers, action, and gore. People's tastes are changing, and we need to keep that in mind. They have to change fast. If we don't look at the future, things could be pretty bad. I feel that's what happened in Hindi. Now they'll change. It can't be fantastic all the time,' said Nagarjuna. Last seen in the 2024 film Naa Saami Ranga, Nagarjuna has two films lined up for release. Sekhar Kammula's Dhanush, Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna and Jim Sarbh-starrer Kuberaa will be released in theatres on 20 June. Lokesh Kanagaraj's Rajinikanth-starrer Coolie, which also stars Nagarjuna, will be released in theatres on 14 August. Nagarjuna will announce his upcoming film in the coming months.

'Thug Life' box office collection Day 9: Kamal Haasan starrer struggles to cross Rs 50 crore mark in India

The movie had immense hype since its release with two of the most prominent filmmakers collaborating; however, it is reportedly struggling to hit the Rs 50 crore mark in India even after nine days of release. As per trade analyst Sacnilk, the movie saw its collections dip under Rs 1 crore, collecting just around Rs 75 lakhs on its second Friday, as per the early estimates. This makes it the film's lowest single-day figure since its release. The week started strong with an impressive Rs 15.5 crore on Day 1, but the momentum quickly dropped. On the second day, the movie only collected Rs 7.15 crore, followed by Rs 7.75 crore on Day 3. Despite weekend footfalls, the numbers failed to cross expectations. After its first week run, it could only mint over Rs 44 crore. With day nine's estimated earnings, the film's total collection in India now stands at approximately Rs 44.75 crore.
