Huge band forced to pull out of awards as star left battling illness

Daily Mirror09-05-2025

The Academy of Country Music Awards was thrown into chaos at the last minute when a singer was forced to pull out with their bandmate revealing she'd fallen ill
A huge singer was forced to pull out of The Academy of Country Music Awards on Thursday. Sugarland had been due to take to the stage but it later ermeged that things had dramatically been switched up at the last minute.
Sugarland had taken to social media just one day before the prestigious event to share their excitement ahead of the awards ceremony as they encouraged fans to tune in on Prime Video. However, it emerged that the band wouldn't be on stage and were replaced at the last minute by Little Big Town who performed their track Girl Crush, originally released in 2014. But the decision didn't go unnoticed by fans who instantly took to social media to share their confusion.

"I need to know- what song were you going to sing?! Missed you tonight," said one follower. A second went on to add: "Wait, Little Big Town sang instead?" asked a second. Another took to X, formerly known as Twitter commenting: "Watching the #ACMawards solely to see Jennifer Nettles (Sugarland) perform and Little Big Town takes their place."

"I think Little Big Town replaced Sugarland on the ACMs. It looks like Jennifer didn't make it, only Kristian is there," said another. Sugarland, consisting of Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush had also been scheduled to present the Duo of the Year award but only one half of the duo took to the stage.
Kristian presented the gong to Brooks & Dunn. Explaining Jennifer's absence, he said: "I was supposed to be presenting this ACM Award for Duo of the Year with my amazing partner Jennifer Nettles. Sadly, she got sick this morning, proving that when it comes to duos, it really does take two.
"Jennifer, I love you, we love you, feel better soon." The comments instantly prompted an outpouring of support from fans, with one sharing on social media: "Get Well Soon @jennifernettles." A second typed: "@jennifernettles hope you feel better soon. You were missed!!"
Jennifer is yet to comment on her illness. Before their scheduled performance, the duo teased that they were planning on "going all out" and fans "won't want to miss" their set.

But it appears that there's no love lost between the band as Sugarland and Little Big Town joined forces last year at the CMT Music Awards for a performance of the Phil Collins hit, Take Me Home.
They later went on to release the track as a single on the same day. Elsewhere, they co-headlined a tour, the Take Me Home Tour, which ran between October 24 and December 13 of last year.
At the awards, Lainey Wilson took home the top prize of Entertainer Of The Year for the second year in a row.
And that was after she cleaned house, taking home trophies for both female artist and album of the year. "I really do have the best fans in the world," she said in her final acceptance speech, admitting to experiencing impostor syndrome. "I dreamed about entertaining. ... Country music has given me more than I deserve."

There is a growing chemistry between Helena and Shakira's man Harry Cooksley - and the blonde beauty appears to be enjoying every second. But taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan complained: "I wanted to like Helena but she's made one too many b****y comments about Shakira. It's giving insecure babe, give it a rest." Another added: "Helena is giving nasty girl b****y vibes and I'm not here for it." Advertisement A third chimed in: "Helena i defended you but I'm feeling there's a little underlying grudge against Shakira i can't lie." And a fourth said: "Helena's snide comments about Shakira and Toni needs to stop. you've known the girls for 3 days…" Shakira is in a couple with semi-professional footballer Harry due to Love Island's first massive twist. Advertisement Several of the lads stood up to show their interest in Shakira the following day and she chose to recouple with Harry - which saw his lady Sophie Lee sent home. But in Wednesday night's show, Helena began turning Harry's head. Watch the awkward Love Island moment that 'proves' two girls are feuding, say fans During a dare game around the fire pit, he gave Helena a lap dance before sitting back down and putting his hand on her leg. He also whispered "Hideaway" to her before they sneaked off for a quick moment together. Advertisement Helena appeared delighted when Shakira learned about the leg grope after the game had finished and giggled about his cheeky move. Moments later, Blu Chegini asked Shakira if he could have a chat with her and took her to The Hideaway. Outside, Helena laughed as she told Harry: "Your bird is in The Hideaway!" This comment didn't go down too well with fans of the show. Advertisement "Helena is a rat. 'Your bird's in the hideaway'. She's jealous. Period. And clearly not a girl's girl," one viewer blasted. Another added: "Getting a weird vibe from Helena. Like she's going for cool girl, but it's coming across as a bit mean? Referring to Shakira as his "bird" and then implying she's too cool to care if he's touching someone else's leg at the same time as hers." Unbeknown to Helena and Harry, Shakira ended up kissing Blu in The Hideaway. Liam Gallagher has just one regret as he prepares for first Oasis comeback show

Ahead of Oasis taking to the stage in Cardiff next month, Liam Gallagher has taken to social media and revealed that he has just one regret about the legendary band Liam Gallagher has revealed his one major regret about Oasis just weeks before the band hit the road. The legendary Manchester-based band will be on s tage together for the first time in 16 years next month for their mammoth Oasis Live '25 tour. Brothers Liam, 52, and Noel, 58, had been at loggerheads ever since the band split in 2009 and were often embroiled in tense feuds on social media and in interviews. But years before their split, an internal war is believed to have broken out between the warring siblings. Liam is said to have questioned the paternity of Noel's eldest daughter, Anaïs, 25, in May 2000. ‌ But after almost two decades of arguing, the brothers left fans in a state of disbelief last year when they announced their sensational return, almost 15 years to the day of their split. In just a matter of weeks, they will take to the stage at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on July 4 for their first show. ‌ However, Liam has now opened up about his one major regret about the band in an honest admission with a fan. "How does it feel singing songs with ur brother again? Like old times?" asked one fan on X, formerly known as Twitter. Liam responded: "You know what it's spiritual but I can't help think about all those wasted years, what a waste of PRECIOUS time." Oasis came to an end in 2009 following a disagreement between Liam and Noel backstage at the Rock en Seine Festival in Paris. A witness who saw them row said: "Liam was goading Noel constantly and then the two snapped." Liam also smashed up one of Noel's guitars during the heated clash. The pair are due to perform over 20 dates starting on July 4, before completing the UK leg on September 28 at Wembley Stadium. But could fans see the once-warring brothers again after their upcoming tour? Replying to a fan last week, Liam said: "Let's see how this tour goes and if we still love each other after it." ‌ When asked by the Mirror how rehearsals are going, Liam told us: "Dangerous." Meanwhile, videos have circulated on social media, with audio clips of the band apparently rehearsing the anthems Cigarettes & Alcohol and Fade Away. He told fans that it was his idea to have both songs on the setlist for the most anticipated tour. Last week, the two brothers were seen heading to rehearsals for the first time. While the pair arrived separately, they had two very different methods of transport to the top-secret location. Liam was seen arriving in a chauffeur-driven van, surrounded by packets of Lockets and cough syrup to help his throat, while his older brother, Noel, took public transport and was seen on the District Line at Paddington station. A source told the Mirror: "It was extremely exciting having Noel and Liam in the same room. The excitement for the tour is off the charts." Get Oasis updates straight to your WhatsApp!
