Honda has pulled the plug on developing some future models including cancelling plans for a large electric SUV.
It was due to launch in 2027 but according to new reports, development for the model has now been halted.
In addition, the brand has slashed how much it plans to spend on EVs through 2030.
Honda will cut EV-related funding from $68.6 billion to $48 billion.

The company is reportedly shifting its focus toward building more hybrids which are already in development for the US.
But plans remain to launch their flagship electric sedan and midsize SUV EVs which were showcased earlier this year.
Those models are scheduled to arrive next year.
Honda also has plans to launch seven EVs by 2030 but it's not yet clear how many of those are still in development.

The scale back comes as motor companies have come to realise their EV plans don't align with consumer demand in the last six to nine months.
Some have starting closing the purse strings on EV investments as a result.

Nissan scrapped plans for a small electric SUV in January and Mini said it wouldn't be abandoning petrol engines anytime soon.
Even Volvo has admitted defeat in achieving its EV plans.
Elsewhere, motor companies are also trying to keep the combustion engine alive.
BMW insist the combustion engine is its foundation while Lamborghini is hopeful synthetic fuels will take off.

Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz is looking to extend the life of its engines while Audi has announced it will build petrol engines for another 10 years.

Indeed, the top 10 list outlines Toyota's dominance last year, with the Japanese giants boasting five models on the list. EVs, like those built by Tesla and ever-growing Chinese maker BYD, continue to gain market share, but cars with internal combustion engines still dominate, contrary to some predictions. It's also worth noting that many models rely heavily on specific markets for their sales, such as the Toyota Camry in the US and the BYD Qin in China. 10. Not seen one on the road? It's hardly surprising, as nearly all of its sales were made in China - with only a few exported overseas. It's a dependable workhorse, known for its durability and off-road capability, but perhaps it's starting to pay the price for its insistence on petrol power - judging by its 15% sales decline. 5. Toyota Corolla - 697,000 (-11%) 10 Toyota Corolla Credit: Toyota UK Widely recognized as the best-selling car model of all time, the Corolla continues to be shifted all over the world with strong sales in Asia and Europe particularly. Featuring both an ICE and hybrid powertrain, the Corolla remains a favourite due to its reliability, fuel efficiency and recently introduced hybrid options. However, as previously mentioned, its 11% sales drop likely reflects a shift away from traditional saloons and hatchbacks, toward SUVs. 4. A hot favourite in the US - which accounted for more than a half of total production in 2024 - it also sells well in Asia and Europe. However, he has been short on minutes in the Spanish capital and actually scored less league goals that Martinelli last term. That said, Arsenal have picked up players hiding in the shadows of La Liga's superteams before and had great success. Gordon has become a crucial part of Newcastle's rebuild under manager Eddie Howe but could be ready to take the next step in his career. The England international hasn't been in the greatest patch of form recently and new surroundings could be exactly what he needs. His exit from the Serie A club looks likely, with the 27-year-old submitting a transfer request earlier in the window to try and force through a move to Inter Milan. Reports now claim that Inter have walked away from the deal after Atalanta rejected their £38m bid, potentially opening the door for Arsenal to swoop in. Advertisement Lookman has previous Premier League appearances from his brief spells with Leicester City, Fulham and Everton. 8 RAFAEL LEAO Rafael Leao has become one of the most consistent top performers in Serie A over the past five years. His versatility would mean that he could play anywhere across the front three for Arsenal and would offer even more depth to Arteta's side. He's still tied down to a contract with AC Milan until 2028 and so won't be a cheap option if the Gunners try to make a move. Advertisement But with Milan out of Europe altogether this season, the temptation of Champions League football could potentially turn Leao's head. 8 BRADLEY BARCOLA Admittedly this one seems unlikely, but if Arsenal can raise over £100m from player sales then it could tee them up for a marquee signing. Barcola, 22, is one of the most highly-rated wingers in Europe at the moment, having a hand in seven of PSG's goals on their journey to Champions League glory last season. And while a switch to Arsenal may not seem realistic, Barcola would be given the chance to be one of the stars in North London, rather than staying in the shadows of Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia in Paris.
