The Pokémon Company will finally be making previously promised changes to Pokémon TCG Pocket's trading system, months after it launched to frustration from players.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) and expanded on in the Pokémon website, The Pokémon Company revealed a host of changes to the trading system in Pokémon TCG Pocket. The changes will come in an update on July 27, 2025, and will remove key aspects of the system that players had issues with.

When the trading system launched in Pokémon TCG Pocket earlier this year, feedback from players was very poor, with most frustrated with the system's reliance on trade tokens, which were fairly limited and couldn't be earned through regular gameplay. This month's update to the game will remove trade tokens altogether, instead asking players to use the incredibly abundant Shinedust, which is readily earned in-game, for trades.
Players will also be able to earn even more Shinedust after the update goes live, with the amount earned from pulling cards set to be doubled. Players earn Shinedust by pulling cards from packs that they already own, so while players will earn less at the start of a new expansion cycle, they'll eventually earn more as the month goes on, providing them with enough to finish the set once a new set launches and the previous set's cards move into the trading pool.
We'd like to share an update on Trading in #PokemonTCGPocket.

A new exchange system will also be implemented to allow players to swap their existing trade tokens for Shinedust and pack hourglasses, which you can see the details for below:
Pack hourglass ×1 Required amount: Trade token ×1 Number of possible exchanges: 60
Shinedust ×10 Required amount: Trade token ×1 Number of possible exchanges: Unlimited
Shinedust ×100 Required amount: Trade token ×10 Number of possible exchanges: Unlimited
Shinedust ×1,000 Required amount: Trade token ×100 Number of possible exchanges: Unlimited
Trades will be disabled from July 24, 2025 until the update the following week, and players are expecting a new expansion at around the same time the update goes live, after the Eevee Grove expansion launched in late June.

Mom Wakes Up at 5:30AM, Unprepared for Who's by Her Bed

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A U.K. mom was fast asleep when she heard a mysterious munching sound coming from her bedside. Kenzie (@kenziecleankids2) posted a clip on TikTok of her bed covers, lit up by her phone camera in the early hours of the morning. "I woke up at 5:30 a.m. to a loud noise—I thought it was an animal at first," Kenzie told Newsweek. Kenzie's white bedsheets are lit up by her cellphone camera in the early hours of the morning. Kenzie's white bedsheets are lit up by her cellphone camera in the early hours of the morning. @kenziecleankids2 But when Kenzie pans the camera, the real culprit is revealed: her almost-3-year-old daughter, Ava Mae, casually sitting beside the bed, chomping loudly on a bag of Butterkist popcorn while watching her iPad. "I was so shocked to see her down by the side of my bed; she was just loving life," Kenzie said. The mom, from the southwest of England, asked her daughter, "What are you doing?" Ava Mae, however, was completely unbothered and carried on eating her popcorn. "She's the most-sassy little person, with the funniest personality," Kenzie added. Kenzie's clip clocked up more than 2.7 million views and almost 1,100 comments. Many other parents found the moment of toddler mischief relatable. "My son came into me one morning eating a cinnamon donut and had another in his hand ready to eat next," one user wrote. "My son did the same thing at her age. Got himself some cereal. Got his iPad. Sat down next to my bed and was crunching away. Then he got mad at me when I was like, 'Um, what are you doing?' He was clearly eating," another commented. "Poor kid's only at the cinema watching her movie leave her be," a third user posted. But Ava Mae's early-morning snack stash left some users concerned, pointing out that popcorn is considered a choking hazard for young children, especially those under 4 years old. The American Academy of Pediatrics says that popcorn is one of several foods, along with grapes, hot dogs, and nuts, that pose a choking risk due to the shape and texture. Parents are generally advised to avoid giving popcorn to toddlers until they are developmentally ready to chew it thoroughly. Kenzie, aware of the concern, told Newsweek thatshe took the popcorn away soon after the video was filmed. "Me, my 4-year-old old son and [Ava Mae] just started laughing. I did take them away from her as she had eaten half the bag already," the mom added. Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures you want to share? Shelter Cat Born With a 'Fluffy' Nose Finally Meets Her Family After Appeal

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A rescue cat with very quirky features has finally found a loving home, as internet users praise her for giving "Nanny McPhee vibes." Winifred the rescue feline, who is thought to be around 3 years old, was discovered outside by a cat caregiver in Chicago, Illinois. That individual, who works on Trap-Neuter-Return efforts in the local area, fostered Winifred until she could be added to the PAWS Chicago adoption program. Allison Wunder, the senior digital media manager at PAWS Chicago, a no-kill humane organization, told Newsweek that Winifred is "very affectionate and loving." However, the cat certainly has some distinctive features that make her stand out from the crowd. Winifred isn't like other felines, as she has "a fluffy nose" due to a dermoid on that part of her face, and she also has an extra canine tooth right in the middle of her upper gums that protrudes out. They are certainly adorable features and simply add to Winifred's individuality. From left: Winifred the rescue cat rests at PAWS Chicago. Wunder said: "She has a benign lump on top of her nose that is growing hair and even a couple of whiskers. This is cosmetic only and doesn't cause her any problems. Similar to her tooth, removing it would put her through unnecessary surgery and recovery. "She will roll around for pets, and her favorite toys are Ping-Pong balls. She is a really sweet, calm companion," Wunder added. The dermoid and the extra tooth don't impact Winifred in any way. She can still eat like normal, and she has a strong sense of smell. A video of the 'Nanny McPheeline' was shared on the PAWS Chicago TikTok account (@pawschicago) and it went viral with over 1.3 million views and more than 219,000 likes at the time of writing. The clip encouraged people to consider rescuing Winifred and to give her a second chance at life. In the days since the video was shared online, Winifred's furry nose and extra tooth have melted plenty of hearts. Internet users have become so obsessed with her, and the appeal has even helped her get adopted. Winifred is now in her forever home, and it is delightful that her quirky features didn't get in the way of her being truly loved. "The response on social was incredible; so many people commented to express their love for Winifred. A lot of people compared her to Nanny McPhee, too," Wunder said. The social-media attention has led to more than 2,100 comments on the viral TikTok post already. One comment reads: "she's giving Nanny McPhee, I'm sobbing." Another TikTok user wrote: "she's perfect & I hope her future family treats her like the queen she is." A third person replied: "extra tooth for extra treats."
