Major road closures in Klang Valley ahead of ASEAN Summit 2025

MULTIPLE highways and roads across the Klang Valley will be closed in stages from May 23 to 28 in conjunction with the 46th ASEAN Summit 2025 in Kuala Lumpur (KL).
Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the closures will affect six major highways and 25 main roads, particularly those leading to Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC), hotels, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Subang Airport and Istana Negara.
'Full deployment will begin from May 23 to 26, 2025 and will involve staggered road closures and diversions across six highways and 25 main roads in the Klang Valley,' he said at a press conference on road closures during ASEAN Summit 2025 at the Police Training Centre (PULAPOL) KL today.
Traffic control will begin 30 minutes before each scheduled convoy, with roadblocks and diversions enforced between 8am and 8pm daily during the summit period.
Among the affected highways are the North–South Expressway Central Link North–South Expressway Central Link (ELITE Expressway), Maju Expressway (MEX), New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), KL-Seremban Expressway, North-South Expressway and Guthrie Corridor Expressway.

Major city roads such as Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Bukit Bintang and Jalan Parlimen will also be impacted.
Specific closure times will be scheduled around VIP movements between hotels, KLCC, KLIA, Subang Airport and Istana Negara.
A full dry-run involving motorcade rehearsals, venue security and pool duties will also be conducted on May 21 and 22.
Mohd Yusri said a total of 789 personnel — including 55 senior officers and 734 rank-and-file officers — will be deployed throughout the summit.
The public is advised to avoid restricted routes, use alternative roads to ease congestion, plan their journeys in advance, follow instructions from on-ground personnel and prioritise public transport including the light rail transit (LRT), mass rapid transit (MRT), monorail and buses.
'Close cooperation with other agencies such as the Road Transport Department (JPJ), local authorities (PBT), the Public Works Ministry (KKR), the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) and highway concessionaires is greatly hoped for to ensure smooth traffic management during this assignment,' he added.

He also expressed gratitude to Masoud for facilitating the repatriation of two Malaysian citizens previously detained in Iran, as well as the cordial treatment according to Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu and Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir during their recent visit to Teheran as part of joint efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation. 'In the same discussion, Malaysia welcomes the decision to resume Mahan Air flights from Teheran to Kuala Lumpur, which will undoubtedly open more opportunities for economic ties and people-to-people connections,' he said. In a separate post, Anwar said he received a phone call from Turkyish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday, during which they discussed the suffering of the Palestinian people, among others. He said as Muslims around the world face increasing division due to narrow-minded ideologies and a fading sense of brotherhood, the spirit of haj must be embraced to rekindle the values of love, mutual respect and fraternity among the faithful, he said in a Bernama report on Thursday. 'If we reflect with open hearts, we will see that haj is a commanding symbol of unity for Muslims worldwide. Look at the millions of people from different races, skin colours, cultures and languages gathering in one place, facing one qiblah, calling out one name: Allah SWT. 'There are no titles, no castes, no worldly pride. All that remains are two pieces of white cloth and hearts humbled before the Creator. Fahmi sees off Brunei Sultan at Subang Airport
