2025 Inter Dominion heats: Leap To Fame takes on Don Hugo at Albion Park
Leap To Fame has won all three heats and a Grand Final across two Inter Dominions, but yet another awkward inside back row draw (gate eight) presents him arguably his biggest challenge yet.
Not only is gate eight the worst place Leap To Fame could draw, but he's also following out his main danger Don Hugo, the second-best pacer in the series.
Dixon has driven against Luke McCarthy for more than 20 years and knows better than most the genius of Don Hugo's trainer-driver.
He won't give McCarthy the chance to 'snooker' him.
So, Dixon has dismissed growing speculation he would push through from the back row, sit behind Don Hugo and try to beat him in a dash home at the end of the long 2680m trip.
'I don't think I can afford to do that because that would give Don Hugo and Luke too much control of the race,' said Dixon.
'So, I'm pretty sure I will be getting away from the markers as soon as I can and more than likely have to sit parked outside Don Hugo at least the bell.
'Larry's (Leap To Fame's stable name) greatest attribute is his strength, so if we have to use that then that is how it will be.'

It's a powerful vote of confidence from Dixon in a race that doesn't actually mean a lot in the scheme of things because this is just a qualifying heat.
The big prize is the $1 million Ladbrokes Inter Dominion final a week later.
But it fits with the booming confidence Dixon exuded after Leap To Fame powered to victory after a tough run and in the fastest time of the night at last Saturday's opening round of heats.
'I was thrilled with how easily he did it and how sharp he felt. He's right where we want him,' he said moments after the runaway victory.
Dixon is also a competitive beast and will want to build on Leap To Fame's 2-1 lead over Don Hugo, who won last year's Inter Dominion final and beat Leap To Fame in the Miracle Mile in March.

McCarthy knows the draw has massively fallen his way this time, but he's still wary of Leap To Fame.
'That doesn't surprise me that Grant wants to get off my back, I've been saying all week I thought he'd do that,' he said.
'The draw is still a big help to us. My guy has trained-on really well and will be fitter for last week's win.
'It's a good track to be in front around and we'll get our chance to beat him.
'Put it this way, if we can't beat him from this draw over this distance (2680m) then I don't know how we possibly can in the final over even further (3158m).'
Leap To Fame is $1.60 tomorrow night despite the draw with Don Hugo at $2.60.
Leap To Fame's dominance is even stronger in Grand Final betting at $1.25 with Don Hugo at $3.80.
The final fields for the pacing and trotting finals will be decided tomorrow night with the crucial barrier draws on Sunday.

Melbourne's Steven May fails at appeal to get rough conduct suspension for clash with Francis Evans overturned
Star defender Steven May will still miss Melbourne's next two games after the club's bid to overturn his rough conduct suspension was rejected by the AFL appeals board. May was initially handed a three-match ban by the tribunal for rough conduct over the high-speed collision in the Demons' July 19 loss to Carlton that left Blues forward Francis Evans with concussion, a broken nose and a missing tooth. The All Australian defender maintained the ball was always his focus. May, who missed the Demons' demoralising loss to St Kilda on Sunday with his own concussion, will be suspended for games against West Coast and the Western Bulldogs. He was not involved in Monday night's appeal hearing. The Demons appealed on the basis the tribunal made an error of law and that no tribunal acting reasonably could have come to the decision it did. Melbourne's case, which was presented over more than an hour, hinged on the contention that no reasonable tribunal would expect a player to anticipate the trajectory of the ball's bounce. Melbourne noted after a handball went over Evans' head, the ball bounced four times. The first three bounces went away from the Carlton player, before the fourth took the ball into his hands, when May made contact. Jack Rush, acting for the Demons, contended the tribunal had put a "sense of perfection on the reasonable player" in expecting May to anticipate the ball's trajectory. Melbourne also contended that the tribunal noting Evans had made a movement to avoid contact, while not taking into account May had extended his left leg in an attempt to also slow down, was "the height of procedural unfairness" and demonstrated "unreasonableness". AFL representative Nick Pane quickly contended the tribunal's finding was not unreasonable before the appeals board of Stephen Jurica, Wayne Henwood and chair Will Houghton deliberated for 14 minutes. He concluded there was no lack of procedural fairness and no unreasonableness in the tribunal's decision. West Coast Eagles confirm Harley Reid's season over after western derby ankle injury
Harley Reid's second AFL season has ended four games early, with the West Coast Eagles confirming their rising star will miss the final month with an ankle injury. Reid was helped off the field late in Saturday's 49-point loss to Fremantle after he injured his ankle in a tackle. He had kicked two goals. Coach Andrew McQualter said after the game the 20-year-old would be sent for scans. They have revealed he suffered a syndesmosis injury, often referred to as a "high ankle sprain". "Harley Reid got his foot caught up in a tackle and has a low-grade syndesmosis injury," Eagles fitness boss Mat Inness said. "Despite being quite a low-grade injury, due to the time of season, we have ruled him out for the season." The news comes amid intense speculation in AFL circles about the long-term playing future of the highly regarded Reid, who was the AFL's number one draft pick in 2023, and whether he will return home to his native Victoria. The loss of Reid is not the only bad news for West Coast, who are languishing at the bottom of the AFL ladder with just one win for the year. Scans have also confirmed their top draft pick last year, Bo Allan, has played his last game for 2025 as well. Allan, who played in a WAFL premiership with Peel Thunder last year, has also suffered a syndesmosis injury. "Like Harley, Bo Allan got his foot caught up in a tackle at training on Thursday and suffered a low-grade syndesmosis injury," Inness said. "Once again, due to the time of the year, this will rule him out for the season." Allan, 19, managed six appearances in his first season. There was better news for key defender Harry Edwards, who was withdrawn from the Fremantle game after experiencing hamstring tightness during the warm-up. Inness said the club was hopeful Edwards would be available for this weekend's game against Melbourne.
