Lin‑Manuel Miranda has confirmed that the filmed version of Hamilton, featuring the original Broadway cast, will be released in cinemas on September 5 2025 in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. The announcement was made during his appearance on The Tonight Show.
Miranda explained that the recording, captured live at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in June 2016, was initially intended for theatrical release.
However, the project shifted to streaming during the pandemic and debuted on Disney+ in July 2020. Miranda said, 'So, Sept. 5, you will be able to see Hamilton in movie theatres nationwide.'
In addition to the screening in North America, the film is set to open in the UK and Ireland on September 26 and in Australia and New Zealand on November 13. Tickets are now available for purchase.
The theatrical version includes a new prologue, "Reuniting the Revolution", with interviews featuring the original cast and creators reflecting on the show's legacy.
Director-producer Thomas Kail noted the intention to replicate 'the feeling of being in the Richard Rodgers Theatre' for cinema audiences.
The cast includes Miranda as Alexander Hamilton, Leslie Odom Jr. as Aaron Burr, Daveed Diggs as Lafayette/Jefferson, Christopher Jackson as George Washington, Jonathan Groff as King George III, Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler and Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton.
Miranda's interview coincides with the 10-year anniversary of Hamilton, which premiered in 2015 and went on to win 11 Tony Awards and a Pulitzer Prize. The film rights were reported to have sold for US $75 million, and the Disney+ version earned multiple Emmy wins.
A special premiere screening will be held on September 3 at Central Park's Delacorte Theatre, with tickets available through a public donation and lottery system benefiting The Public Theater, where Hamilton originated.
This theatrical release represents the next stage in the musical's global celebration and offers fans a chance to experience the original performance on the big screen.

'Wicked: For Good' unveils first look featurette and posters for Elphaba and Glinda

Universal Pictures has shared a brand-new 'First Look' featurette for Wicked: For Good, offering fans a deeper glimpse into the sequel, along with two newly released posters of Elphaba and Glinda, portrayed by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. The first Wicked film broke records as the most successful Broadway-to-film adaptation ever, grossing $729 million globally. The sequel continues the untold story of the witches of Oz. Directed again by Jon M. Chu, Wicked: For Good picks up with Elphaba now cast as The Wicked Witch of the West, living in the Ozian forest. She continues to resist The Wizard's regime and fight for the rights of Oz's Animals, while trying to reveal the truths she uncovered. Meanwhile, Glinda has embraced her public image as Oz's symbol of Goodness, living in the Emerald City under Madame Morrible's direction (played by Michelle Yeoh). As she prepares to marry Prince Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey), Glinda becomes increasingly unsettled by her unresolved bond with Elphaba. The narrative also sees the return of key characters like Boq (Ethan Slater), Nessarose (Marissa Bode), and new faces Pfannee and ShenShen, played by Bowen Yang and Bronwyn James. Sharon D. Clarke voices Dulcibear, Elphaba's former nanny. As tensions rise in Oz and old friendships are tested, Elphaba and Glinda face one final turning point. Wicked: For Good arrives in theatres worldwide on November 21.

Alien: Earth cast reveal which classic Alien film characters they'd like to see appear in the TV series

The cast of Alien: Earth, the upcoming eight-episode series from Fargo creator Noah Hawley, have shared their hopes for potential crossovers with characters from the original Alien films. Set in 2120, just two years before the events of Alien, the new series introduces viewers to synthetic hybrids, cyborgs, and entirely new alien breeds with unfamiliar life cycles. With this timeline overlap, fans have speculated about possible appearances by legacy characters from the franchise. While Hawley did not confirm any such plans, he acknowledged the possibility. 'Is it plausible that the show might end up reaching the moment in which the movie begins and going beyond it? I think that's certainly plausible,' he said. Among the cast, Babou Ceesay — who portrays cyborg Morrow — expressed interest in seeing Ian Holm's character Ash return. 'Ash is stuck in my psyche,' he said, imagining a scene where Ash confronts Timothy Olyphant's synth character, Kirsh. Olyphant responded jokingly: 'Take it easy! It took an ugly turn there.' Alex Lawther, who plays Hermit, chose John Hurt's Kane. 'Just to spend some time with John Hurt, and apparently go out drinking with John Hurt. In Thailand,' he said. He also mentioned Sigourney Weaver's Ripley, saying, 'He can bring Sigourney along!' Alien: Earth premieres on Hulu in the US on August 12 and on Disney+ in the UK on August 13.

Miley Cyrus to celebrate 20th anniversary of Hannah Montana with special 2026 event

Miley Cyrus has announced plans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her hit Disney Channel series Hannah Montana with a special event scheduled for March 2026. The celebration will honor the show's cultural legacy and its role in launching Cyrus's career as a global pop icon. Premiering in 2006, Hannah Montana followed teenager Miley Stewart as she lived a double life as international pop star Hannah Montana. The series ran until 2011 and starred Miley Cyrus, Emily Osment, Mitchel Musso, and Billy Ray Cyrus. Known for its mix of comedy, music, and teen drama, the show produced chart-topping albums, a blockbuster film, and a sold-out tour. Cyrus confirmed the event in a July 22, 2025 SiriusXM interview, saying, 'Without Hannah, there really wouldn't be this kind of… this me.' She hinted at live performances, re-recorded songs, exclusive merch, and fan activities like meet-and-greets. Online interest surged, with searches for 'Hannah Montana anniversary' up 4,900% following the announcement. Fans are calling for a reunion concert with hits like 'Best of Both Worlds' and 'Nobody's Perfect.' While Disney has not confirmed involvement, the timing coincides with the 2026 launch of the unified Disney+ and Hulu app, sparking speculation the platform may spotlight Hannah Montana content. Now 32, Cyrus credits the role with shaping her identity, and the anniversary event promises to reconnect fans with the show's enduring legacy.
