"Fear Street: Prom Queen" Lands Release Date

Yara Sameh
The next installment of Netflix's 'Fear Street' franchise, 'Prom Queen,' will be streaming just in time for prom season on Friday, May 23.
The new movie takes the audience back to the cursed city of Shadyside in 1988 and comes nearly four years after Netflix's decades-spanning trilogy of Fear Street Part One: 1994, Fear Street Part Two: 1978, and Fear Street Part Three: 1666, which released over three weeks in summer 2021.
The upcoming teenage horror movie is based on R.L. Stine's 1992 'Fear Street' novel, 'The Prom Queen'.
Per the official logline, 'Prom season at Shadyside High is underway and the school's wolfpack of It Girls is busy with its usual sweet and vicious campaigns for the crown. But when a gutsy outsider is unexpectedly nominated to the court, and the other girls start mysteriously disappearing, the class of '88 is suddenly in for one hell of a prom night.'
The cast includes India Fowler ('The Nevers', 'Insomnia'), Suzanna Son ('Red Rocket,' 'The Idol'), Fina Strazza ('Paper Girls,' 'Above the Shadows'), David Iacono ('The Summer I Turned Pretty,' 'Cinnamon'), Ella Rubin ('The Idea of You'), Chris Klein ('Sweet Magnolias,' 'American Pie'), Lili Taylor ('Outer Range,' 'Manhunt'), and Katherine Waterston ('The End We Start From,' 'Perry Mason').
Yvonne Bernard, Joan Waricha, and Jane Stine will serve as executive producers alongside Caroline Pitofsky, who is overseeing production for Chernin Entertainment.
Producers include Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Kori Adelson for Chernin Entertainment.
In January 2024, Stine confirmed that a new 'Fear Street' movie was in development at Netflix.
'Movie News: I can finally announce that a new Fear Street movie is about to go into production for Netflix. It's based on my Fear Street book, The Prom Queen. Good news!' Stine said in a social media post.
This will be the fourth 'Fear Street' movie at Netflix after the Leigh Janiak-directed 2021 trilogy — 'Fear Street Part One: 1994', 'Fear Street Part Two: 1978', and 'Fear Street Part Three: 1666.'
Netflix released one Fear Street movie a week for three weeks in 2021. While the trilogy was inspired by R. L. Stine's "Fear Street: 1994", "Fear Street: 1978", and "Fear Street: 1666", they were not based on any specific books written by Stine.
The giant streamer announced back in November 2023 that a standalone Fear Street movie was in the works, and that this time, the movie will be based on a specific book.
'Obviously, there's a lot of books,' Netflix's Head of Film Scott Stuber previously told Collider. 'There's one standalone that we're working on right now that we're once again trying to get the script right, but I like it very much, and so does the team. So I feel like if we can get that script right there would be a great kind of extension of that franchise.'

Etyen Releases Second Album ‘My Goddess' on Thawra Records

Etyen drops a deeply personal LP reflecting love and loss, composed in the midst of Lebanon's political and economic turmoil. Jun 02, 2025 Lebanese producer Etyen has just released his second album, 'My Goddess', through his Beirut-based independent label Thawra Records. Released both digitally and on vinyl, the nine-track project is a deeply emotional, sonically expansive portrait of heartbreak, reflection, and survival. Written during Lebanon's ongoing political and economic turmoil, the album captures the dual weight of personal grief and collective trauma. 'It's about learning to let go, even when everything feels like it's slipping through your hands,' Etyen tells SceneNoise. The record is charged with layered textures, shifting from fragility to resilience, reflecting the artist's own emotional turbulence. Amongst the inspirations behind the album is the loss of his cat Lucy, a symbolic presence that threads through the record's narrative of mourning and rebirth. Etyen has spent over a decade crafting a distinct voice in electronic music. His work spans Netflix original soundtracks ('Jinn'), international festivals like Sonar Barcelona and MUTEK, and editorial nods from Bandcamp Daily, BBC Radio 6, and FBi Radio. Through Thawra Records, he continues to champion experimental artists from the Arab region, building a community rooted in sonic and political independence.

"Sukkar 2" Gets Streaming Date

Yara Sameh The second entry of the Egyptian family musical film "Sukkar" will make its streaming debut exclusively on the "Shahid" streaming platform on Friday, June 6. The film draws inspiration from U.S. writer Jean Webster's epistolary novel 'Daddy-Long-Legs' and is touted as the Arab world's first musical film in the Western canon. 'Sukkar' features singer Hala Turk, who rose to prominence after being an 'Arabs Got Talent' contestant in 2011, in the lead role alongside a wide range of new young talents from the Arab world. The cast also includes Magda Zaki, Mohamed Tharwat, Reham Elshanawany, Yasmina, Mohamed Harby, Moataz Hesham, and others. The official logline for the film reads:"A beautiful day turns disastrous when the city is struck by a chickenpox outbreak, affecting children and workers at the orphanage. While a doctor develops a vaccine, the children seek help from a magician. Amid these events, Sukkar receives an invitation to the annual circus, where she uncovers a truth that turns her life—and the lives of her friends—upside down." The first entry hit cinemas across the Middle East and North Africa on October 12, 2023 by Beirut-based Empire Entertainment, which is one of the region's top movie distributors. It is scripted by Kuwaiti writer Heba Mishari Hamadai, helmed by Egyptian director Tamer Mahdy, and produced by Saudi-owned broadcasting powerhouse MBC Group in its first. 'Sukkar' also features original songs penned by Hamada and scored by Egyptian composer Ehad Abdel Wahed. The film's lead producer is Samar Akrouk, the group director of production at MBC Group, alongside MBC executive producer Lara Ghazal Nassif and MBC producer Alaa Awada, with executive producer Tamer Mortada and producer Mostafa Al Awadi from Egypt's Aroma Productions. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Arts & Culture Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's $4.7M LA Home Burglarized Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks
