Crucial Sanjeevaiah Park RoB to materialise soon

HYDERABAD: The crucial RoB between Sanjeevaiah Park and Patigadda, connecting Necklace Road and SP Road in Secunderabad, is set to materialise soon, with GHMC and SCR agreeing to prioritise the works. Proposed as an alternative to Begumpet Road and Ranigunj X Roads, this link between Hyderabad and Secunderabad is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion. GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan told TNIE that tenders for the RoB, estimated to cost Rs 80 crore, would be floated soon as both GHMC and SCR agreed to take up the construction as a priority. The RoB is designed as a four-lane, 7.50-metre dual carriageway with a central median and footpaths on either side, spanning 600–700 meters. Over a decade ago, a similar RoB proposal costing Rs 28 crore hit a roadblock as HMDA and GHMC failed to release their 50% share (Rs 14 crore).

ThunderPlus opens second franchise-based EV charging station in Hyderabad

ThunderPlus, an electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure provider, has opened its second franchise-based ultra-fast EV charging station at Necklace Road, Hyderabad, in partnership with South Central Railway. The station is part of the company's broader strategy to scale its EV infrastructure network in urban and semi-urban locations. ThunderPlus now operates over 200 charging hubs across India, supplying more than 10 megawatt-hours of energy daily and powering over 4,000 EVs, according to company figures. This translates to an estimated reduction of 35 metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions per day. The new station was inaugurated by ThunderPlus CEO Rajeev YSR and attended by representatives from State Bank of India, including S Madhan and Santosh, along with Arvind Kompelli, the company's second Titanium Franchisee. Commenting on the partnership model, Kompelli said, 'The Assured Business Guarantee programme by ThunderPlus gave us the trust and confidence to invest in this sunrise EV industry. Their technical backing and revenue assurance have made this journey seamless.' Vishal Arjun, Divisional Commercial Manager, Secunderabad Division, Ministry of Railways, stated that the success of an earlier collaboration at the Hitec City MMTS station led to further engagements. 'Usage exceeding five hours per day convinced us of their operational and commercial capability. We are now partnering with them to replicate similar models across other railway premises in Hyderabad,' he said. Station features and franchise model The newly launched facility features 120 kW ultra-fast charging bays, which can be scaled up to 480 kW based on demand. It incorporates dynamic load-sharing technology, 24x7 uptime through centralised digital monitoring, and is positioned to serve the Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, and Secunderabad areas. ThunderPlus has also invited entrepreneurs to join its franchise programme. With an investment starting at ₹20 lakh, the model offers a full technical setup, centralised operations and maintenance support, and a structured revenue model with business guarantees. As part of its future plans, ThunderPlus aims to shift its charging stations from conventional power sources to renewable energy. The company is pursuing power purchase agreements (PPAs) for solar integration to reduce its environmental impact and enhance sustainability.
