AL MUSANNAH: The Al Mazayna competition, organised by the Oman Camel Racing Federation, concluded at the Tawi Al Shawi field in the Wilayat of Al Musannah, Al Batinah South Governorate. The four-day event witnessed enthusiastic participation from camel breeders across various governorates of Oman, showcasing the finest camels in the country.
The final day featured three rounds for the one-year-old camel category. In the Silver Round, Rajwa, representing the Royal Cavalry Corps and trained by Suleiman bin Mohammed al Jahouri, claimed first place. Ramz Al Sharqiya, also from the Royal Cavalry Corps and trained by Al Jahouri, secured second place, while Intikahat, trained by the same handler, finished third.
The highly anticipated Main Round saw Mukhifa, owned by Jumaa bin Hamid al Durai, emerge as the champion, followed by Al Ghazal, owned by Rashid bin Saeed al Saeedi, in second place. Jumayel, owned by Ghalib bin Saeed al Saeedi, secured third place.
In the Talad Round, Maali, owned by Khamis bin Abdullah al Sunaidy, claimed victory. Raghad, owned by Adel bin Saeed al Mughairy, finished second, while Masiha, owned by Hamid bin Abdullah al Quraini, secured third place.
The competition concluded with a grand award ceremony, where Shaikh Ammar bin Salem Al Marzouf al Saadi, member of the Majlis Ash'shura and representative of Al Musannah, presented prizes to the winners. The event was attended by Shaikh Saeed bin Saud al Ghafeeli, Chairman of the Oman Camel Racing Federation, along with esteemed dignitaries and camel enthusiasts.

MUSCAT: The Oman Camel Racing Federation (OCRF) is all set to take part in the first Asian Camel Racing Championship, which will take place at Al Wathba Camel Racing Track in the UAE capital of Abu Dhabi on May 8. This landmark event is poised to become a continental celebration of heritage sport, gathering camel lovers across Asia to promote the sport's cultural legacy. The Asian Camel Racing Federation (ACRF) has announced the rules of the first edition of the Asian championship which will witness both races, human and robot riders. The traditional competitions (human rider) will feature two categories: male and female jockeys, both races will be for 2 km. Male jockeys will compete in two rounds, while female will compete in a single round. The participants must be at least 18 years old, possess valid camel jockey licenses or certified approvals from their national federations. All participants must be officially registered through their respective national federations with two jockeys per round. The championship will only allow camels of approved categories including Thanaya, five years old, and Al Hoal, above six years old. Gold, silver and bronze medals will be presented to the top three winners and cash prizes for the top 10. In each round, the winner's federation will receive a dedicated race cup, and the federation with the highest total points will be awarded with a championship trophy. All participants are required to wear official safety equipment and sports attire as mandated by the ACRF.

BARKA, APRIL 8 The third day of competitions of the 2025 His Majesty the Sultan's Camel Cup Festival, held at Al Fulaij Track in the Wilayat of Barka, witnessed intense and thrilling competitions in the 'Yathaa' and human riders categories. The races brought together elite camel owners from across Oman and offered a variety of valuable prizes, including cars, Icons, daggers and cash awards. 'YATHAA' CATEGORY 4 YEARS OLD FOR 6 KM In the first race, Elaj owned by Ali al Owaisi delivered an outstanding performance and claimed first place, winning an icon and a car. The second race saw Al Hathar, owned by Ahmed al Darai, take the lead and win a dagger and a car. In the third race, Al Hurra, owned by Saeed al Wahibi, crossed the finish line first and received a car as a prize. Al Taghiyah, owned by Mohammed al Jahafi, emerged victorious in the fourth race and was awarded a cash prize, while Ghara, owned by Hammoud al Ghafeeli, topped the fifth race and also secured a cash prize. The excitement carried on into the sixth race, where Thameen, owned by Mohammed al Saadi, clinched first place and received cash prize. In the seventh race, Qarar, owned by Badr al Owaisi, achieved the top position and earned a cash prize as well. Jawaher, owned by Mohammed al Jahafi, won the eighth race and took home a cash prize, followed by Adeem, owned by Ahmed al Wahibi, who triumphed in the ninth race and was also awarded a cash prize. HUMAN RIDERS OVER 2 KM In the human riders category, which requires notable skill and experience, Al Shamikha, owned by Amer al Zar'i, stood out in the first race and was rewarded with a dagger and a car. The second race was won by Mashkoor, owned by Hamad al Amri, who received a cash prize. In the third race, Thameen, owned by Salem al Zar'i, took first place and a cash prize. The morning of April 9, the fourth day of the festival will feature three races in the 'Thanaya' category for camels aged 5 years, covering a distance of 8 kilometres. Additionally, four races will be held in the 'Al Hawl' category for camels aged 6 years and above. Each category includes one car prize and two iconic trophies, along with cash prizes awarded to the top 10 winners in each race. OXY OMAN CONTINUES SUPPORT The Oman Camel Racing Federation signed a sponsorship agreement with Oxy Oman for the 11th consecutive year to support camel races held in the concession areas of Adam, Ibri and Haima, in addition to the annual national race that features participation from across all governorates of Oman. The signing ceremony took place in Muscat under the auspices of Basil bin Ahmed al Rawas, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Sports and Youth. The event was attended by Shaikh Saeed bin Saud al Ghafili, OCRF Chairman, along with officials from both sides and representatives of local media. Al Rawas emphasised the importance of this long-standing partnership and praised the role of the private sector in supporting traditional sports. Al Ghafili expressed his gratitude to His Majesty the Sultan for the continuous support of camel racing, highlighting the agreement's impact on enhancing competitions and providing economic benefits to camel owners and trainers. He also mentioned the federation's ongoing efforts to improve race tracks and ensure the sustainability of the sport. From his side, Nasser bin Issa al Maskari, Social Responsibility Manager at Oxy Oman, said the agreement reflects the company's commitment to preserving Oman's cultural heritage and strengthening ties with the local community, particularly in concession areas, through dedicated and continued support for camel racing.

Muscat, March 24 The Royal Court Affairs represented by the Royal Camel Corps (RCC) has announced the final camel race for the season 2024-25, which is the Sultan's Cup Festival 2025. The festival is set to take place from April 6 to 10, at the Al Fulaij Track in the Wilayat of Barka in Al Batinah South Governorate. The event will feature 77 races across various camel categories in the corporation with Oman Camel Racing Federation (OCRF). The opening day, April 6, will be 32 races for the 'Hagayeg' category, two years old, for 4 km. 23 races will be in the morning with cash prizes for the top ten. In the afternoon, there will be nine main races with cars and four icons as prizes for the winner and cash prizes for the top 10. The second day, April 7, will be 20 races for the 'Lagaya' category, three years old, for 5 km divided into 14 races in the morning with a cash prize for the top 10. Six main races will start in the afternoon, with six cars, and four icons for the winners and cash prizes up to 10th place. The third day, April 8, will be nine races for the 'Yathaa' category, 4 years old, for a 6 km in the morning with three cars and two icons, as well as cash prizes for the top 10. Additionally, the morning session will feature three races for human riders over 2 km, featuring a car and cash prizes for the top ten. On the fourth day morning, April 9, there will be three races for the 'Thanaya' category, 5 years old, for a distance of 8 km. Four races are allocated for the 'Al Hawl' category, 6 years and above. Each category will have a car and two icons in addition to the cash prizes for the top 10. Participation Requirements The Royal Camel Corps has outlined general conditions for participation in the festival allocated only for purebred Omani camels wholly owned by Omani citizens. The Oman Camel Racing Federation will ensure that participants adhere to strict anti-doping regulations, prohibiting the use of any stimulants or banned substances. All race-winning camels will undergo testing for prohibited substances, and any violations will result in the forfeiture of prizes and the imposition of penalties per the federation's regulations. Specific rules have also been set for human rider races; the Omani rider must be at least 18 years old.
