Andhra Pradesh MLA hails CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu as role model for electricity reforms in country
TIRUPATI: Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy asserted that chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu was a role model for electricity reforms for the entire country.
During his address on the second day of the TDP's Mahanadu held at Kadapa, Kotamreddy recalled that while 16 chief ministers who ruled Andhra Pradesh in the past could produce only 5,000 MW of power during their combined regime, Nara Chandrababu Naidu generated 15,000 MW of power during his tenure alone.
'While power cuts and interrupted power supply were the order of the day back then, today the people of the state are enjoying the fruits of uninterrupted power supply because of the electricity reforms brought by our visionary leader Nara Chandrababu Naidu,' the Nellore Rural MLA asserted.
Criticising the previous YSRCP govt, Kotamreddy asserted that it destroyed all systems in the state and brought it to a point where even paying salaries to the employees became a daunting task.
He stressed that if Chandrababu Naidu didn't become chief minister, the state wouldn't have been able to progress in any manner from the ruins of the erstwhile regime.
The Nellore Rural MLA also recalled how Nara Lokesh, through his Yuvagalam Padayatra, restored confidence among the people of the state.
'The then YSRCP govt created all kinds of hurdles for his Padayatra, but Lokesh marched forward without any fear of the cases or the brutal force being unleashed against him by the then regime. Today, the time has come for Lokesh to play a bigger role in the party in order to further strengthen the party before the 2029 general elections in the state,' Kotamreddy asserted.

No foes, only pals: Leaders across party lines laud Dattatreya at his book launch
1 2 Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday offered a candid reflection on his political evolution, claiming that he studied at "Modi's school," graduated under Chandrababu Naidu in the TDP, and is now working with Rahul Gandhi in the Congress. His remarks, made at the launch of Bandaru Dattatreya's autobiography 'The Story of the People is My Autobiography' at Shilpakala Vedika, drew attention for both their political significance and personal candor. Praising the veteran BJP leader, Revanth described Dattatreya as a rare politician who has "no enemies, only friends," and highlighted his own warm relationship with Dattatreya and Union minister G Kishan Reddy. "Dattatreya began his journey in Gowliguda and rose to become governor. He remains one of the most accessible leaders — even a roadside vendor could invite him to inaugurate a shop, and he wouldn't hesitate to attend," the CM remarked. Revanth also credited Dattatreya's Alai Balai initiative as an inspiration during the Telangana movement. "Though a BJP leader, this event was never perceived as a party programme," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Skype Phone Alternative Undo Meanwhile, former Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu took a pointed swipe at present-day politics, saying, "Today, many politicians switch parties as easily as diapers are changed for babies." If used properly, Waqf Amendment Act is pro-Muslim: Chandrababu Naidu
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu reiterated his party's support to the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, saying that if used properly, this law is pro-Muslim. Naidu's Telugu Desam Party (TDP) voted in Parliament in support of the contentious law enacted by the Modi government, which got the President's nod in April. The TDP is part of the ruling NDA alliance in the Centre, alongside Nitish Kumar's JDU, Chirag Paswan's LJP and Jayant Chaudhary's RLD, among others. Speaking exclusively to India Today TV on Sunday, the TDP chief recalled the work done by his previous governments for Muslim minorities in the state and said that his party is fully committed to the welfare of all religions and communities. "If used properly, the Waqf law is pro-Muslim," Naidu said. The Amendment to the 1995 law was challenged by several opposition parties in the Supreme Court, who, after hearing all sides, has the verdict reserved. Naidu also touched upon a range of issues of national significance as well as those concerning Andhra Pradesh. Watch the full interview.

Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, TDP Floor Leader in the Lok Sabha, wrote letters to Vijaya R. Rahatkar, Chairperson of the National Commission for Women, National Human Rights Commission Chairman Justice (Retd.) V. Ramasubramanian, and Press Council of India Chairman Justice (Retd.) Ranjana Prakash Desai, requesting them to take suo motu cognisance of the derogatory comment made by journalist V.V.R. Krishnam Raju that the State capital Amaravati was the 'capital of sex workers', and take appropriate action against him. Mr. Krishna Devarayalu was referring to the comment passed by Mr. Krishnam Raju during a televised debate on Sakshi TV on June 6 hosted by Kommineni Srinivasa Rao, and sought an investigation into the incident, and the initiwtion of criminal proceedings against Sakshi TV for insulting the Modesty of a Woman under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita. He also wanted a direction to the Sakshi Channel to submit an explanation and publicly apologise for airing such content. The TDP MP said the impugned comments amounted to committing a gross violation of human dignity, fundamental rights, and media responsibility. The comments were humiliating to the women and culture of Andhra Pradesh. The broadcast of this offensive content suggested a failure of editorial oversight. He said the right to free speech could not be weaponised to demean women and it should be ensured that women's dignity was not sacrificed for mere TRPs.
