The Police Department has announced an increase in the number of constables to be recruited from 9,617 to 10,000 and issued a notification for holding a written examination, followed by a physical efficiency test. Applications have been called till May 17 for the posts, which include constables, drivers, operators and police band players.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said here on Tuesday that providing employment to the youth was one of the highest priorities for his government. 'The recruitments to 1.88 lakh posts will help ensure people's access to public welfare schemes in the remote areas. The Personnel Department has initiated action for making the appointments,' he said.
Mr. Sharma reviewed the progress of implementation of the 2025-26 budgetary announcements at a high-level meeting here and gave instructions for framing timelines for each subject. He said each department would prepare progress report on the implementation of announcements and review them regularly.
The Chief Minister said a new global capacity centre policy would be brought in shortly to create employment opportunities and increase investments in the service sector. The trade sector would be developed with the framing of the trade promotion policy, he said.
Guidelines were issued on the occasion for widespread dissemination of circular economy and speeding up the e-bus service, the proposed amnesty scheme, the vehicle scrap policy, and connecting the domestic consumers to the piped cooking gas supply.

‘Supari To Kill Me…Time To Bring Out Sudarshan Chakra': UP Energy Minister AK Sharma's Power Tussle
Last Updated: In his headlong clash with power sector employees, AK Sharma has alluded to a 'supari' being taken out to finish him and invoking the 'Sudarshan chakra' Once a powerful bureaucrat of the nation, Energy and Urban Development Minister AK Sharma seems powerless in his political avatar. In his headlong clash with power sector employees first over controlling line losses, corruption and then proposed privatisation of discoms, Sharma has in recent days alluded to a 'supari" being taken out to finish him and invoking the 'Sudarshan chakra" to deal with his alleged conspirators. His anger against top officers and engineers burst out on July 24, when at the end of a high-level meeting in Lucknow he said that officials had lost touch with the problems people face on the ground and he was not there to listen to their false data and 'bakwaas". He said that officials were neck-deep in corruption and sending inflated bills to customers and then reducing them after taking bribes, malfunctioning transformers were not being replaced for weeks on end, vigilance raids were being carried out on small defaulters sparing the bigger ones and manpower deployment had become a source to extort money. 'You all don't realise the kind of resentment on the ground that I have to face. People are constantly complaining to me and other politicians but there is no effort to deal with their problems. It seems some people have taken a supari to tarnish my image. I know where you are being instigated from" Sharma had lashed out. — AK Sharma Office (@AKSharmaOffice) July 28, 2025 Who is AK Sharma? A Gujarat cadre IAS officer of the 1988 batch, Sharma enjoys the reputation of a 'doer' and ensuring 'fast delivery'. He worked closely with Narendra Modi when he was the CM of Gujarat and was credited with orations the 'Vibrant Gujarat" summit and later moved into the PMO when Modi became the Prime Minister in 2014. He served in the PMO till suddenly taking a VRS at the start of 2021 and was shortly afterwards made the Vice President in the state BJP and an MLC. When the BJP rode back to power in 2022, he was made a cabinet minister and given the two big departments of Power and Urban Development. His troubles seem to have started when the UP government proposed Privatisation of power distribution companies (discoms). This had thousands of engineers and linemen up in arms who protested the move and struck work. In a social media post put out by Sharma's official account on Monday, it is stated that 'the move to privatise Discoms has been taken collectively by the government at the highest level. When officials are aware that AK Sharma cannot transfer a Junior Engineer, how can he take such a big decision as to privatize discoms all alone. Frequent protests and strikes are being carried out and inappropriate language has been used against me and my family at one such protest outside my residence. There is a planned effort to tarnish the image of the power minister and it seems all those who are jealous of me have come together". Sharma's outbursts have come after weeks of being pilloried on social media where he is seen by heckled by people for power cuts while on visits to to districts and reports of power outages while he has been holding meetings. Sharma's social media account has blamed 'some anti-social power department employee union leaders are conspiring to show the minister in bad light. This is because the minister refuses to bow to their wishes. Their union leaders did not resort to such protests when the Agra discom was privatized during the Mayawati government. They were silent as they were obliged and sent on foreign tours". Sharma has been vocal against union leaders for the last few weeks. In a public meeting held in Mau recently, he said, 'I have been trying to reason and motivate the power employees to improve their functioning for the last three years but to no avail. Now the time has come to weild the Sudarshan Chakra like Lord Krishna did against the Kauravas. But I am showing restraint. Those who think that the minister holds no power and cannot discipline them let me tell them that if like Lord Ram release the arrow nobody will be able to save them from here to the Rashtrapati Bhawan (President's House). Sharma has been in the offensive over the past few days and his office social media account recently released an audio clip of a former MLA and an Executive Engineer, where the later refused to heed to the former legislators complaint over a 12 hour power outage in the city and repeatedly telling him to seek redressal from the helpline number. Sharma was quick to reprimand officials taking out a press release to state 'helpline numbers are only a secondary form of receiving complaints. Engineers will have to take complaints directly and solve them. This has been clarified earlier also but some officials deliberately hide behind official procedures to avoid work and are sabotaging the department". With Sharma being in the offensive, senior officials have pulled their socks up but clearly it seems that it is not the end of the chapter yet. Monsoon misery persists in Sanganer despite CM's repeated visits
1 2 3 4 5 6 Jaipur: The arrival of monsoon has not only brought the much-needed rains to Rajasthan but has also seen Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma making his second visit this year to his constituency, Sanganer. On Wednesday, he issued fresh directives to Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) and Jaipur Municipal Corporation-Greater (JMC-G) officials, urging them to repair broken roads, address water supply issues and expedite sewer line work. The reality on the ground, however, tells a different story. Sanganer continues to reel under the same age-old problems: crumbling infrastructure, choked drains and monsoon misery. Take the Malpura underpass, for instance. Once meant to ease movement, it's now riddled with potholes, nearly impossible for two-wheelers to navigate without swerving dangerously. Just a few metres ahead, a broken cement block intended to cover an open drain lies partially collapsed. During heavy downpours, water rushes past with such force that the drain's gaping void becomes clearly visible. Rajeev Jaga, who runs a nearby shop, said, "It's been nearly 15 days since this block broke. Just two days ago, rainwater overflowed onto the road. We locals know where to step but for a stranger, it could be fatal." The same chaos spills into public schools. At Mahatma Gandhi English Medium School in Dada Gurudev Nagar, water has flooded not only the approach road but the school playground as well. "Two days ago, the road outside was completely submerged," said staffer Ashok Jangid. "As for officials? No one ever shows up here, forget about acting." Even as the Diggi Kalyan Ji pad yatra drew large crowds Thursday, basic arrangements were lacking. Babulal, who was setting up tents for the pilgrimage, remarked, "What's the use of the CM's visits? He comes, gives orders, leaves. Nothing changes. Even today, when everything should've been perfect, the roads are still broken and waterlogged." Outside the CM's own local office building (Mukhyamantri Camp Karyalay), the main road is no better. One side is a stretch of potholes, the other a mini-lake formed by stagnant rainwater deep enough to submerge a four-wheeler's tyres. In Engineer's Colony near Mangyawas, the road caved in after Monday's downpour. Local resident Aman Saini says, "This road was once solid. Ever since they dug it up for the sewer line, it turns into a mess after just one rain. Now it's all mud and slush." Perhaps the most symbolic of all is the RIICO Kata area, where the CM himself laid the foundation stone for road widening on Jan 12. Today, only the stone remains. Around it, nothing but water, cracked roads and a disappointed public. Sanganer's struggle reveals a deeper rot where govt visits, foundation stones and grand declarations rarely translate into real change.

CM slams Cong over appeasement politics
Jaisalmer: Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Thursday accused the Congress of indulging in appeasement politics and vote bank strategies. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of an eye camp at Ramdevra in Jaisalmer, Sharma said that the recent verdict in the Malegaon blast case has exposed what he described as Congress's long-standing appeasement tactics. He accused Congress of spreading misinformation, including the narrative of Hindu terror, and targeting innocent saints and the dignity of society. Sharma reiterated his belief that Hindus can never be terrorists, citing their values and the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which teaches that the world is one family. Sharma said Congress members often question his visits to temples and ask whether they too can visit their places of worship. He urged them to change their mindset, suggesting that it is now their turn to sing hymns. Without naming former chief minister Ashok Gehlot, Sharma said that false promises and political tricks would no longer work as the people of Rajasthan are now fully aware. He also criticised attempts at religious conversion in the country, declaring that such efforts would not succeed. The eye camp is being held for the first time on the sacred land of Lok Devta Baba Ramdev. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Japanese AI invention allows you to speak 68 languages instantly. He praised Baba Ramdev for establishing social harmony and highlighted the importance of the event for the local community. Sharma visited the Baba Ramdev panorama before walking barefoot from the Panorama to the Ramdevra temple to offer prayers. He inaugurated the mega eye screening camp, inspected the OPD facilities, and interacted with devotees along the way. The CM was welcomed by crowds with flower showers and garlands, and walked about a kilometre through the main market to the shrine, where he offered prayers for the prosperity and well-being of the state. He also visited the shrine of Dalibai and listened to devotional hymns at the Jammu Jagran site, marking the occasion as both a religious and social milestone for the region.
