Johor EXCO pays tribute to late special officer who died in Makkah
He said Misnan, 60, who was part of the Johor Government Delegation (RKJ) for the Hajj pilgrimage, was more than just a colleague—he was a trusted friend who always placed the people's interests above his own.
'His passing is a great loss, not only to me personally but also to our entire team and the many communities he touched with his kindness and service.
'I truly value his dedication and sacrifices throughout his time in service. His sincerity and commitment will continue to inspire us all,' said Mohd Hairi in a Facebook post.
Misnan, a pilgrim from flight KT46 and a guest at Maktab Diary Al Saad in Makkah, was confirmed to have died on May 31 at 7.50 am (local time) at King Abdul Aziz Hospital due to a heart attack.
He is the fifth Malaysian pilgrim to die in Makkah this year.
Mohd Hairi, who is also the Larkin state assemblyman, extended his condolences to Misnan's family and prayed that they be given strength and patience during this difficult time.
Johor state secretary Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani also offered his condolences in a Facebook post, praying for the soul of the deceased to be blessed and placed among the righteous.

The non-profit organisation recently visited Voon Mei Fong, 47, who lives in Demak Laut here. During the visit, Voon shared that her marriage fell apart as she strove to escape from domestic abuse. However, she was grateful her children aged six and 11 did not go through any abuse. As she has no transport, Voon aspires to find a job which does not require her to travel far. Presently, she is unemployed. 'Since her separation from her husband, Voon's elder sister has been supporting her as much as she could. However, with Voon being unable to secure a stable income, the burden is too much,' said Hope Place. Voon said her in-laws have been helping to send the children to school every day, and the house they are staying in belongs to her in-laws. 'But financially, Voon and her children still face an uncertain future,' it added. Having worked as a quantity surveyor in Melbourne, Australia, for years, Audrey Seet first began her journey towards mastering Chinese ink painting in 2017 after seeking a hobby to distract herself from work burnout. 'The challenging but very expressive strokes of each brushwork I made were almost therapeutic as I felt my mind clear itself from all the daily stress of work life. 'It not only allowed me to return to work with a clear mind, but also helped me to develop a better connection to nature and appreciate the little things in life. 'This relaxed state also made me more caring and thoughtful, which eventually led me to use my art for the greater good,' she said in an interview yesterday. Having studied under the guidance of many professional art teachers, the now 62-year-old has since turned her mastery of the art into a way to raise funds for the less fortunate and support local education in Malaysia. She began her dream earlier in April this year by selling her beautiful works of art in an exhibition in Melbourne, where she raised RM20,000 from the sale of four paintings that were then donated to Manna Food Bank. 'The massive turnout gave me a lot of confidence, and I then decided I needed to do one in my home country as a way of giving back to society,' said the Gombak-born Seet. Her newest exhibition, named Discover 'Colours Unbound', showcases 120 pieces of art from both herself and her teachers at Laman Seri Harmoni 33 (LSH33). The exhibition ends today. The diverse variety of work features many recognisable intricately drawn shapes from flowers of various shapes and vibrant colours to scenic locations to various animals like fish, rabbits, pandas, and tigers. She said proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to the nearby SMJK Chong Hwa in Gombak to support its development to improve education for students.

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon (1 August) when a school worker was putting up flags before finishing work for the day. Due to carelessness, one of the Malaysian flags was hung upside down. A member of the public recorded the incident and posted it on social media, where it quickly spread online. The school received notification around 5 PM and immediately corrected the flag's position. In a joint statement released on Saturday (2 August), the School Board of Management, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), and school administration apologised. We sincerely apologize to the public for this incident. This was completely unintentional and happened due to a worker's oversight during preparation work.
