The AirPods 4 with ANC just hit their lowest price ever — but this is the way better Prime Day deal

Tom's Guide09-07-2025
With Prime Day now in full swing, the deals are really getting going. That means some great low prices on some of our favorite products. In fact, a great price just landed on Apple's ANC variant of the AirPods 4 for the lowest price ever.
The AirPods 4 with ANC are now just $119 at Amazon after a $60 discount. That's the largest savings we've ever seen. Yet still, I believe there are better options out there for slightly less in the Prime Day sales.
The AirPods 4 with ANC just recieved their lowest price ever in the Prime Day sale. If you're not a fan of silicone eartips, then these might just be your best ANC-flavored option. They sound okay, and the ANC is surprisingly effective — it led them to a 4.5-star review, after all. This $60 saving is the biggest we've ever seen.
I can understand why so many want to buy the AirPods 4, especially the ANC variant. Not everyone likes the invasive eartip fitment of most earbuds, and the ANC model means they get the best of both worlds. A less 'forward' fit and noise blocking.
But the AirPods 4, in my mind at least, are compromised in some key areas. Battery life is a particular hangup of mine, with the buds only lasting around 4 hours with ANC enabled.
They don't sound amazing either, and there are definitely better-sounding options for a similar price or less. If you opt for an alternative, you'll miss the Apple ecosystem interoperability (which remains seamless) and the ever-popular AirPods aesthetic, but you'll get a significantly better pair of buds in the process.
The CF-710N are some of our favorite affordable earbuds, not least because of their excellent transparent blue colorway. They sound excellent, and their ANC is much better than what you'll find on the AirPods 4. This deal price brings them down to their lowest ever price as well.
Take Sony's WF-C710N, for example. They sound much better, and offer much longer battery life. They're proper in-ears with silicone tips, but that just makes the ANC even stronger. The WF-C710N are now just $78 in the Prime Day sales at Amazon — nearly $50 less than the AirPods.
Or you could spend even less and nab yourself Nothing Ear (a). They sound better, and there's ChatGPT integration for the AI nerds out there. The Nothing Ear (a) are also down to $69 at Amazon for a Prime day treat.
Look, if you're dead set on AirPods then the AirPods 4 with ANC are going to be just fine. But you could do so much better.
There are plenty more deals to be had this Prime Day — make sure you check out our Prime Day live blog to make sure you're staying on top of all the latest sales and offers.

The Only Thing Hotter Than the Weather Is This Shark Attachable Misting Fan Deal, Record Low Since Launch

Want to talk about rapid evolution? You don't have to be that old to remember when turning on a fan to cool down meant turning the switch on a simple box fan. One propeller, three speeds, and the only other feature is that it makes your voice sound funny if you talk into it. Fast-forward to today and behold the Shark FlexBreeze pedestal and tabletop oscillating fan, which is at its lowest price ever right now at Amazon, just $130. The list of the Shark FlexBreeze's features is pretty incredible, and this 35% off Amazon deal is arriving just in time as an August heat wave settles in across much of the country. The Shark FlexBreeze's cooling breeze can be felt from as far away as 70 feet, and when you use the Instacool misting attachment, that breeze can make you feel up to 10 degrees cooler. It has a separate pedestal pole and base to toggle between floor and tabletop use, it's UV- and water-resistant for outdoor use, and when you take it outside you don't have to worry about running an extension cord, because it has a rechargeable battery with a 24-hour runtime. See at Amazon The Shark FlexBreeze weighs just 13 pounds, and has a built-in handle that is key to expanding the FlexBreeze from tabletop to floor fan and back again, and also to carry the fan anywhere you need it — indoors or outdoors. Yet despite its relatively small size and sleek design, the FlexBreeze packs a tremendous cooling punch. Put it in BreezeBoost mode and you can feel the air moving from up to 70 feet away. And even with that kind of power, the Shark FlexBreeze is amazingly quiet, so you can run it while you're working or sleeping without interruption. If you're unfamiliar with the amazing cooling power of a misting fan, they've long been the key to allowing outdoor eating and other activities in places like Phoenix and Las Vegas during the brutal summer months. Add the Instacool misting attachment to the FlexBreeze and bring that simple yet effective technology wherever you need it — the mist cools you by as much as 10 degrees without getting you even a little bit damp. The Shark FlexBreeze's rechargeable battery has a robust 24 hour runtime, and if it begins to run down or if you don't necessarily need to go wireless, it also plugs in so it can run while recharging the battery. Bring it outside and fire up the misting attachment without fear of damage — the FlexBreeze is UV- and water-resistant. The Shark FlexBreeze could be the most innovative and versatile fan we've seen in a long time, and it could be an essential addition to your home during the hottest days of summer which may yet to come. This Amazon limited-time deal is your big chance — it's the lowest price ever for the Shark FlexBreeze, just $130. See at Amazon

If Your Phone's Auto-Brightness Is Irritating You, Adjust These Settings Now

Not every setting on your iPhone is helpful all the time. Auto-brightness is intended to make it easier to see your screen, even if the light around you shifts. Sensors adjust the brightness reading the light levels around you to ensure you're not straining your eyes to see what's on your phone. However, this particular feature can end up being more of a hindrance than a help. The problem can be that your display automatically dims when you're out in the sun. If you're partially in the shade, your phone might get tricked into automatically dimming your screen, even if it doesn't need to. This can make it difficult to see what's on your screen. If you manually increase the brightness, it'll just go back down again because of auto-brightness. Fixing this issue isn't always as easy as toggling off the necessary settings -- but that's a good place to start. We'll show you two settings you need to disable to help prevent your iPhone from automatically dimming. Be advised, your iPhone might still auto-adjust its brightness even when those two settings are disabled. While you're here, you should also check out everything we know about the iPhone 15, and what you need to know about the iOS 17 Beta. First, disable auto-brightness Yes, this may seem a bit obvious, but the first thing you want to do is to make sure that you have automatic brightness disabled in your settings. The feature is pretty self-explanatory -- it automatically adjusts your brightness depending on the light in your environment. If you want to prevent your display from always trying to adjust, you must disable this feature. In the Settings application, go to Accessibility > Display & Text Size and toggle off Auto-Brightness at the bottom of the page. You would think that this setting would exist in Display & Brightness, so it's not uncommon that auto-brightness would be enabled without you knowing since it's tucked away in Accessibility. Auto-brightness is tucked away in the Accessibility settings. Screenshots by Nelson Aguilar/CNET If your brightness continues to automatically adjust, there's another setting you need to disable. You also need to turn off True Tone If you have an iPhone SE (2nd gen) and later, the True Tone feature measures the color temperature and brightness in your environment and then adjusts its display to match it. True Tone is useful when you want it -- it not only helps show more accurate colors across various lighting situations, but it's also easier on the eyes, which you need if you're constantly reading on your phone. Again, if you don't care about the feature, don't use it or are simply annoyed that your brightness continues to automatically adjust, you need to disable it. In Settings, go to Display & Brightness and toggle off True Tone under the Brightness header. As long as auto-brightness is also disabled, turning True Tone off should prevent your iPhone from automatically adjusting your brightness. If Auto-Brightness is disabled and your display continues to adjust on its own, this may be the culprit. Screenshot by Nelson Aguilar/CNET One exception applies. Don't let your iPhone overheat Your iPhone has several ways of protecting its internal components, and that includes automatically dimming your display. Even if you have both auto-brightness and True Tone turned off, if your iPhone is overheating, it will automatically adjust the display intensity. According to Apple, to help prevent this from happening, you should use your iPhone in temperatures between 32 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit (zero and 35 degrees Celsius) and store it in temperatures between 4 and 113 degrees Fahrenheit (between minus 20 and 45 degrees Celsius). If you leave your iPhone in your car or on the sidewalk on a hot day, or even if you try to use it by the pool or beach on a hot day, there's a good chance that it will overheat and cause your display to automatically dim. You'll see a warning message if your phone gets too hot. Jason Cipriani/CNET Overheating doesn't occur only because of a sunny day. A faulty battery can also cause your iPhone to overheat. Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health and check if your battery needs to be replaced. Another reason could be buggy software. Go to Settings > General > Software Update and make sure to always be on the latest update to deal with any software bugs and issues.

The following FAQs were answered by senior deals editor Rikka Altland, based on reporting and research she conducted. When is Labor Day? When is Labor Day? Labor Day 2025, unofficially known as the end of summer, lands on Monday, Sept. 1. So there's just under a month left to enjoy the season before fall begins rolling in. When do Labor Day deals start? When do Labor Day deals start? Early deals are already beginning to go live. I've been covering holiday weekends like Labor Day for almost a decade. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that year after year, the deals keep starting earlier and earlier. Just about every major retailer will be offering Labor Day deals. As summer comes to an end and shoppers begin shifting their focus to the winter holiday months toward the end of 2025, Labor Day serves as a first look at what those end-of-year deals will look like. The savings this year will include everything from big-name storefronts like Amazon, Best Buy, Target and Walmart, as well as specialized retailers like Apple, Lululemon and Sephora. I also expect massive sales at home improvement stores such as The Home Depot and Lowe's. Who has the best Labor Day deals? Who has the best Labor Day deals?
