Sennheiser to debut wireless audio system Spectera at CABSAT 2025

At CABSAT 2025, Sennheiser Middle East, in collaboration with Venuetech, will unveil and demonstrate Spectera, reportedly the world's first bidirectional wideband wireless audio solution, powered by cutting-edge WMAS (Wireless Multichannel Audio Systems) technology. This system is set to transform wireless audio by drastically simplifying system design while boosting performance and enabling comprehensive remote control and continuous spectrum monitoring.
Spectera will be showcased at Sennheiser's booth in the Sheikh Saeed Halls 1, where visitors can participate in live demonstrations. The system features advanced bidirectional bodypacks that simultaneously handle digital IEM/IFB and mic/line signals. Its robust resistance to RF fading and flexibility in utilising a wideband RF channel enable digital IEM latency as low as 0.7 milliseconds.

Spectera directly addresses common issues in wireless audio such as intricate frequency coordination, complicated rack setups, and bulky system footprints. By using a proprietary variant of OFDM-TDMA tailored for reliable, low-latency, bidirectional multichannel communication, it replaces multiple narrowband carriers with a single 6 or 8 MHz wideband RF channel. This enables seamless integration of IEM and mic signals within the same channel, eliminating the need for separate frequency bands and significantly reducing RF fading thanks to high diversity across the channel.
A key highlight of the system is its Base Station, which condenses the capabilities of a full rack of mic receivers and IEM transmitters into a compact 1RU unit with up to 32 inputs and 32 outputs. This innovation, along with versatile bodypacks that serve both transmission and reception functions, drastically minimizes the hardware footprint and simplifies logistics for both engineers and performers.
'Having just one pack is not only a great asset for performers,' added Ryan Burr, Head of Technical Sales & Application Engineering, Sennheiser Middle East 'it also makes the work of the sound engineer easier, who has just one type of pack and can, if required, quickly add an IEM to a mic. Warehousing also becomes less complex, with just one Base Station and two frequency variants – UHF and 1G4 – for bodypacks and antennas.'
Spectera represents a total shift in control and monitoring: It doesn't just offer a back channel, but continuous two-way communication throughout, for truly complete remote control. Via the permanent control data stream, audio settings can be adjusted, IEM and mic levels adapted, RF health and battery status monitored, and much more. AES 256 encryption (AES 256 CTR Mode with >10kYears expiry) for both audio and control data ensures the necessary data privacy.
Also, all units help in continuously sensing the spectrum, meaning they scan for potential interference from other RF sources. With Spectera, it is possible for the first time to see 'behind' the RF channel that is actually being used and detect interference.
Spectera delivers signature Sennheiser digital audio quality for mics, instruments and IEMs, employing different application-optimised audio codecs, which are all internally processed with 32-bit-float precision.
Eleven Audio Link Modes allow for selectable control of audio quality, latency, channel count and operating range for each and every audio link, flexibly throughout a production. The operator can always use the RF channel to the maximum, either by giving fewer audio links a high quality or by allowing more links and reducing the quality accordingly.

Satellite operator Eutelsat has teamed up with Rotana Media Services and consumer electronics giant Vestel to introduce geographic-based targeted advertising for satellite television channels. The partnership, unveiled at CABSAT 2025, aims to transform Free-to-Air (FTA) broadcasting by enhancing monetisation through precise audience targeting. Building on the success of its service—which has already improved the way FTA viewers discover and engage with content—Eutelsat is now reengineering delivery, playout and reporting mechanisms across mass-market satellite receivers. This new strategy is designed to accelerate the adoption of targeted advertising to 35m households in the MENA region within five years, from a total audience of 66m households currently served by the Eutelsat-Nilesat 7/8°West orbital position. Re-engineering delivery, playout and reporting mechanisms of mass market satellite receivers, Eutelsat and partners are driving the rapid rollout of satellite-targeted advertising to tens of millions of satellite households within a five-year timeframe. A multi-solution architecture will give broadcasters complete control to schedule and trigger advertising, or a managed approach for those who prefer to minimise the technical and administrative details. Aymeric Genty, President of the Eutelsat Video Business Unit, commented: 'Targeted advertising multiplies the revenue potential of each ad minute. Most advertisers are interested in the specific market segments that they are targeting. This enables broadcasters to expand their number of advertisers. As part of the collaboration, Quadsat will create dedicated test and measurement protocols tailored specifically for Arabsat, along with a standard test report format, enhancing both consistency and reliability in antenna performance verification. Quadsat, a provider of UAV-based antenna testing and RF measurement solutions, has entered into a strategic partnership with Arabsat, the satellite operator in the MENA region. The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at CABSAT 2025, outlining plans to collaborate on advanced spectrum management and antenna qualification technologies. The partnership aims to define clear protocols for selecting antenna vendors that meet Arabsat’s stringent performance standards, validate new antenna installations, and maintain and calibrate existing ground infrastructure. It will also support the detection and geolocation of unauthorised or interfering signals across Arabsat’s satellite fleet. With the satellite communications environment becoming increasingly complex, Arabsat sees this agreement as a critical step in ensuring optimal performance of its network. The operator intends to use Quadsat’s innovative testing solutions to evaluate flat panel antennas for multi-orbit operations and develop a data-driven system for vendor assessment. The collaboration will help Arabsat maintain the integrity and reliability of its services by streamlining antenna testing and promptly identifying sources of interference. The streamlined single-mic system comes in a compact bag and includes a second USB charging cable instead of the charging bar of the two-channel version launched in late 2024. Designed to be lightweight and ultra-portable, the one-channel version covers typical usage scenarios of solo creators, while allowing for later expansion of the system by including the same two-channel receiver as the Profile Wireless 2-channel system. Also, a 32-bit float firmware update for all Profile Wireless systems is available for download on the Sennheiser website from today. The Profile Wireless 1-channel mic system includes a clip-on mic with mini windshield and magnetic mount, a two-channel receiver, two USB cables, USB-C and Lightning adapters, a camera cable and a shoe mount adapter Streamlined one-channel version 'Following the huge success of the Profile Wireless 2-channel system, we're now catering to the solo creator, who does not require the full two-channel package but would rather like to save on weight and cost and still have Sennheiser audio quality,' says Hendrik Millauer, Product Manager Broadcast & Film at Sennheiser. It can be used on cameras, with smartphones and computers, and can be combined with an external lavalier microphone or even used to create a wireless boom. The mic has an operating time of up to seven hours, and 16 GB of memory for up to 30 hours of internal recording. Profile Wireless can also be used to create a wireless boom, here in combination with an MKE 400 mini-shotgun mic The Profile Wireless 1-channel mic system comes in a rugged pouch that includes the clip-on microphone with mini windshield and magnetic mount, a two-channel receiver, two USB cables, USB-C and Lightning adapters, a camera cable and a shoe mount adapter. As all Profile Wirelesss components can also be bought separately, nothing stands in the way of expanding the system to two channels at a later point in time. 32-bit float update for Profile Wireless 'With the latest Profile Wireless firmware update, we're addressing user requests for a 32-bit float functionality,' says Millauer. 'This will allow creators to record with extremely high dynamic range, and help them to recover clipped audio.' For 32-bit float recording, Profile Wireless combines the audio signals of the two A/D converters inside the Profile Wireless mics to create a single 32-bit float audio stream. Creators who prefer 24-bit recording due to its lower memory requirement still have the option to deactivate 32-bit float recording and turn on the Safety Channel Mode. This will output a -6dB version of the audio in addition to the original sound level and thus help protect against clipping. To update their Profile Wireless system to firmware version V4.1.0, creators are asked to visit . Under Downloads, they will find various firmware updates for Mac and PC, with a smart tool guiding them through the update process for the receiver and transmitter(s). Please note that the first batches of the Profile Wireless 1-channel mic also need to be updated to firmware version V4.1.0. Millauer concludes, 'With the addition of the one-channel system and 32-bit float recording, Profile Wireless becomes the most versatile tool for creators who value excellent sound and see it as a key differentiator for quality content.'
