Congratulations Pouring In For Nathaniel Hackett On Thursday
The last three years have been pretty rough for Nathaniel Hackett. He was fired midway through his head coaching job with the Denver Broncos and had two brutal seasons as offensive coordinator of the New York Jets before being axed six months ago.
But after months and months without a job in football, Hackett has finally landed on his feet.
On Thursday, Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur announced that Hackett is returning to the team as defensive analyst. Hackett previously served as the offensive coordinator in Green Bay for three years under LaFleur, during which quarterback Aaron Rodgers won two MVP awards.
Hackett is getting congratulations for his new job, though maybe not in the normal way. Many have been offering backhanded compliments to him for "being able to stop an offense" due to how awful his offenses were outside of Green Bay for the past three years.
"Good role for Hackett as there might not be a better coach who knows how to stop an offense," one user remarked on X.
"If anyone knows how to show the Defense what the Offense is going to do before the play, it's Nathaniel Hackett," wrote another.
"He certainly knows how to stop an offense," a third wrote.
"Nathaniel Hackett isn't a bad coach. He's simply just been coaching the wrong side of the ball the whole time!"
Hackett's run as offensive coordinator in Green Bay from 2019 to 2021 earned him the head coaching job for the Broncos in 2022. Unfortunately, things went off the rails for him quickly and he wound up getting fired just 15 games into his coaching career.
In 2023, when the New York Jets were still courting Aaron Rodgers, they tabbed Hackett as their offensive coordinator, hoping that he could recreate the magic that Rodgers and Hackett had created in Green Bay.
To put it briefly, it did not work out that way.
Perhaps this role with the Packers will be the springboard Hackett needs to get an even bigger job somewhere down the line.Congratulations Pouring In For Nathaniel Hackett On Thursday first appeared on The Spun on Jul 24, 2025

Former Jets Teammate Sends Stern Warning to Aaron Rodgers
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Aaron Rodgers played the last two years with the New York Jets. In both of those years, the team underperformed and that led to the two sides parting ways this offseason. Now, the future Hall of Fame quarterback is a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Shockingly, Rodgers and the Jets will not have to wait long to face off against each other. New York and the Steelers will play in Week 1. Both sides will be out to prove something. Rodgers will want to show that the Jets made a mistake by giving up on him, while New York will be looking to prove that without him, they can get back to being a playoff-caliber contender. Read more: Chicago Bears Connected as Suitor in Micah Parsons Trade Scenario Will McDonald, one of New York's pass rushers, is hoping to sack his former quarterback. "I always wanted to sack Rodgers from when I was a little let me not say that cause as a little kid I wasn't even interested in playing football. I did watch him though, I watched him a lot," McDonald said. There could not be a clearer warning for Rodgers. He is going to be facing a team that wants to make him fail. The Jets want to defeat him and prove that they made the right decision to move away from Rodgers and bring in Justin Fields to replace him. During the 2024 NFL season, Rodgers proved that he still has good football left in him. He completed 63 percent of his pass attempts for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, while playing in all 17 games. Being able to produce those numbers one year removed from a torn Achilles was an impressive showing. The Steelers want to win a Super Bowl and they made aggressive moves to pursue that goal. Outside of signing Rodgers as a free agent, the front office went out and traded for DK Metcalf, Jalen Ramsey, and Jonnu Smith. Needless to say, Week 1 is going to be pure football entertainment. Rodgers will be going up against his former team and that former team is hoping to make him suffer through a miserable game. 4 players who could get contract extensions next from Broncos
One down, four to go? The Denver Broncos signed wide receiver Courtland Sutton to a four-year contract extension on Monday, securing the receiver through the 2029 season. Broncos general manager George Paton might now turn his attention toward four other players scheduled to become free agents in 2026. Here's a quick list of the players who could be next on Paton's to-do list. Broncos contract extension candidates 1. DL Zach Allen: Allen (27) is coming off the best season of his career with 40 quarterback hits and 8.5 sacks. After earning second-team All-Pro honors last season, Allen is said to be seeking $25 million per season on his next contract. 2. OLB Nik Bonitto: Bonitto (25) earned his first career Pro Bowl nod and a second-team All-Pro selection after totaling 13.5 sacks and scoring two defensive touchdowns in 2024. He is now expected to start negotiations for a new deal at $23 million per year. 3. DL John Franklin-Myers: JFM (28) has made it abundantly clear on social media that he wants an extension sooner rather than later. Spotrac estimates JFM has a market value of $8.5 million, but the defensive lineman has hinted that estimate is too low. 4. DL Malcolm Roach: Roach (26) was dubbed perhaps the team's best free agent addition of 2024 by Paton, so he is clearly valued by the team's front office. Roach's contract will likely be more affordable than the three other players on this list, which might help his chances of getting an extension sooner. Stay tuned as we wait to see which player could get a deal next. Social: Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X! Did you know: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans.
