Virgin River fans baffled by character ages as timeline gives no clues
Fans of the hit Netflix show Virgin River have been left scratching their heads after a recent Reddit thread sparked confusion over the ages of some of the show's main characters.
Despite the show's strong storytelling, viewers say the timeline is becoming increasingly hard to follow, particularly when it comes to determining how old the characters are meant to be.
As viewers of the show know, Virgin River's timeline is completely different in comparison to the time frame the series has been released in. The timeframe is around five months from season one to season six, where as the season first premiered in 2019 - six years ago.
Due to the awkward timeline, fans are extremely confused when it comes to Jack and Brady, and what age they are supposed to be in the show.
One viewer took to Reddit with the question: "How old is Brady supposed to be if he served in the military with Jack? I know Jack is 50 but Brady still looks to be 25-30?!"
This caused an influx of fans to comment, giving their suggestions on the character ages. One fan replied, confirming that Jack was not 50, instead suggesting he is "around 40".
A third fan suggested: "Jack says he enlisted right after college at 18, served for 20 years, and then lived in Virgin River for 7 years. That would make him about 45, I think. Brady is probably around 30 to 35."
One thing that seemed to confuse fans the most was Jack's confession in season three regarding his previous marriage to his high school sweetheart. One viewer stated: "Jack said he got married and divorced at 18, which he said was 30 years ago, so he's at least 48."
Another had a guess, penning: "I agree that Brady looks a lot younger. He doesn't have the greying hair and the lines in his face that Jack has. He can't be much younger, though, if they served together when Jack was young."
However, one fan had a hilarious response, telling fans to completely ignore the ages of the characters. They stated: "In Virgin River ages don't make sense in the same way Grey's Anatomy ages don't make sense. I try not to think about it too much haha. Just remember in VR - age and time do not exist."
Despite the fan confusion, in Robyn Carr's novels, which the series is based on, Mel is approximately 32 while Jack is 40.
Brady is one of the younger male characters and is thought to be around 35.
However none of the characters ages have been confirmed within the Netflix series and, with the slow moving timeline of the show, it means almost all of the character haven't aged or celebrated a birthday since episode one of season one.

Outlander favourite lands huge new role in highly-anticipated romance series
One of Outlander's biggest stars has been cast in a hotly-anticipated romance series alongside actors from The Bear and The White Lotus. Tobias Menzies, who is best known for portraying Jonathan 'Black Jack' Randall in the Starz show Outlander, has joined the cast of a star-studded new series. Menzies, also famed for playing Prince Philip in Netflix's The Crown, is set to star in upcoming Apple TV+ show Prodigies, which will also star The Bear's Ayo Edebiri and The White Lotus star Will Sharpe. Created by Sharpe, the series follows two ex-child prodigies in their early 30s, who are starting to question whether their very ordinary existence is living up to the exceptional potential they once showed in childhood. The ensemble also includes your Honor's Andrene Ward-Hammond, Loki actress Sophia Di Martino, Nabhaan Rizwan from Netflix 's Kaos, Roar star Meera Syal and The Franchise's Lolly Adefope. Fans of Netflix's Black Doves will also be thrilled to know that Prodigies comes from the same series producer, Sister.
