Unlike Cong, Modi govt struck back after terror attacks: Amit Shah in Jaipur
Addressing the 'Sahkar and Rozgar Utsav' in Dadiya on Jaipur outskirts, Shah said that under the PM's leadership, the country has jumped from the 11th position to become the fourth largest economy in the world and 27 crore people have come out of poverty line.
'But the biggest work done by Narendra Modi ji is to secure the country. Under Congress rule, the country was plagued by terror attacks every other day. Pehle Uri mein hamla hua, Modi ji ne surgical strike ki; Pulwama mein hamla hua, air strike kari. Aur Pahalgam mein hamla kiya, Operation Sindoor karkar Pakistan ke ghar mein jaa kar, aatankvadiyon ke parkhacche udaye. (First there was an attack in Uri, Modi ji carried out surgical strikes; there was an attack in Pulwama, air strikes were carried out. And then following the Pahalgam attack, Operation Sindoor was carried out, (we) went inside Pakistan and eliminated the terrorists).
'Aur ek mazboot sandesh poori duniya ko bheja ke Bharat ke nagrik, Bharat ki sena, aur Bharat ki seema, iske saath cherhkhani nahi karte warna natije bhugatne padte hain. Aur Modi ji ne ye sandesh de kar ek samruddh surakshit aur viksit Bharat ke swapan ko sachha karne ka, zameen par utarne ka kaam kiya hai. (And a strong message was sent to the whole world; those who mess with the citizens of India, the Indian army, and the Indian borders, will have to face consequences. And by giving this message, Modi ji has made the dream of a prosperous, secure and developed India a reality,' Shah said.
Shah also praised Rajasthan's Bhajan Lal Sharma government saying it 'has done a lot of work in a very short time.'
He said that 'earlier the entire state was plagued by paper leak cases, but the Rajasthan government has sent a strong message to the paper leak mafia by forming an SIT. At the Global Investment Summit, MoUs worth Rs 35 lakh crore were signed under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and work has also started on MoUs worth Rs 3 lakh crore.'
He said that the Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel was reduced, LPG cylinder was given for Rs 450. Along with this, DPR of Yamuna was approved to bring water from Ram Jal Setu Link Project, Navnera Barrage, Tajewala Barrage and under Jal Jeevan Mission, tap water supply was started in many villages.
He said that today Rajasthan is making a huge contribution to the agricultural development of the country. More than 90 per cent of the country's Gwar (Cluster Beans) is being produced in the state. He said that 46 per cent of mustard, 44 per cent of pearl millets (Bajra), 22 per cent of oilseeds and 15 per cent of millets are being produced in Rajasthan itself. Rajasthan ranks first in the country in the production of these crops, and 18 per cent of groundnut is being produced in Rajasthan and it ranks second in the country in its production, whereas Rajasthan ranks third in the production of jowar, gram, pulses and soyabean. He said that in past 11 years, PM Modi has increased the MSP of wheat by 73 per cent, gram by 82 per cent, and mustard by 95 per cent and groundnut by 82 per cent.
He also said that PM Modi has established an independent Union Ministry of Cooperation with the goal of extending cooperation to every village, poor person, and farmer. He said that today, cooperation plays an active role in 98 per cent of rural areas, and the next 100 years will belong to cooperation. Shah said that cooperatives contribute approximately 20 per cent to the country's procurement of paddy and wheat, while 35 per cent of fertilizers and 30 per cent of sugar production is done through cooperatives. Over 20 per cent of fair price shops are also run through cooperatives. He added that 31 crore people are connected to cooperation through 8.5 lakh cooperative bodies.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot questioned the Home Minister over the alleged delay in Udaipur's Kanhaiya Lal case, pointing out that his government caught the culprits within four hours but the case is still pending even after three years.
'When will the family of the late Mr Kanhaiya Lal get justice? I want to ask Amit Shah ji, you have come to Rajasthan, you are welcome, but at least in today's meetings, give an answer to the people of the state, why hasn't this incident resulted in punishment for those people yet, why hasn't there been punishment till now? It's possible that if the Rajasthan government had handled it — if the SOG or the ATS had handled it — it's possible that by now they would have been punished with life imprisonment or the death penalty, something would have happened, but punishment would have been ensured, it was such a big case.'

Kolkata man found dead, family says he ended life fearing NRC deportation
The family of a 63-year-old man who was found dead in his Kolkata residence Sunday alleged that he died by suicide since he was living in fear of being deported to Bangladesh under the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC), police said. A suicide note purportedly written by the victim, Dilip Kumar Saha, an Indian citizen, was found from the spot, police said. Saha, who reportedly moved to Kolkata from Nawabganj in Dhaka in 1972, was found hanging in his room in the Anandapally West area of Regent Park. Police said Saha's wife Arati Saha, and another relative broke into the room after he did not respond to their repeated calls. He was declared dead on arrival at a hospital. Arati claimed that her husband was under mental stress as he feared being sent to a detention camp and eventually deported to Bangladesh even as he possessed valid voter ID and other documents. Saha worked as a non-teaching staffer at a private school in Dhakuria in south Kolkata. The matter is under investigation, police said. Meanwhile, local TMC MLA and Power Minister Arup Biswas, who visited the family, said, 'This is what the fear of being thrown out of the country could do to a man. What they (Centre) have started in the name of the SIR shows their anti-people attitude, and the result is in front of you.' Later in the day, the TMC held a press meet, with party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh holding the BJP-led Centre responsible for Saha's death. Ghosh accused the Centre of creating 'an atmosphere of terror' that is causing 'valid Indians' to fear for their lives, especially those who may struggle to produce their parents' documents. Education Minister Bratya Basu also condemned the incident, calling the BJP's 'insulting and harassing' notices to Hindu Bengalis regarding the NRC. 'The way in which the BJP has been sending NRC notices to Hindu Bengalis, is to insult and harass them. Not being able to tolerate this, Dilip Kumar Saha has ended his life. In the last over 11 years, the PM has visited this office only once, however, several ministers and other party leaders do visit the place. During the PM's trip to his constituency on Saturday, the PM met the staff on the backside of the dais after his public meeting. The PM spent a very few minutes with the staff and also stood for pictures with them. " Chidambaram called Election Commission's SIR exercise in Bihar "an insult to migrant workers and a gross interference in the rights of the electorate in Tamil Nadu," a day after DMK and its allies opposed the poll body's decision to register migrant workers in the states of their domicile.
