'Prince Harry's fallen short with unexpected move - the irony is hard to ignore'
Prince Harry's surprise appearance in China appeared to fall short with the 'irony' of the trip hard to ignore, according to an expert. The Duke of Sussex jetted all the way to Shanghai to be at a global travel and tourism conference in the city, where he gave a keynote speech urging the travel industry to support sustainable travel and tourism and shared climate goals. Harry is the co-founder of the not-for-profit organisation Travalyst, which promotes sustainable travel. However, the timing of the visit came just as his estranged father King Charles was arriving in Canada for a historic visit, where he gave a speech in parliament. But despite Harry's trip to China also marking a first, as it was his first trip to the country, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond believes it didn't make the waves Harry might have been hoping. She told the Mirror: "Fortunately it seems not to have overshadowed Charles and Camilla's trip to Canada. In fact, it seems to have made very little news at all. If the idea was to garner as much publicity for the cause as possible, it would seem to have fallen rather short. "There was no advance information about it and not much of a splash when he was there. But he is clearly employed by Travalyst to make keynote speeches like this, and I'm sure he made a good job of it. The timing of the conference would have been coincidental to the King's trip to Canada, certainly not deliberate. "However, the irony of flying across the world to promote sustainable, environmentally friendly travel is hard to ignore. Surely a video speech would have been more ethical? The same criticism could be lobbed at William flying around the world to host the Earthshot Awards but sometimes it just raises the profile in a way nothing else could. I'm not sure that Harry's presence did the same." Harry's trip came amid reports that have suggested that all that could be set to change as he attempts to find a 'new purpose'. It is reported that Harry could be launching his own commercial venture in the next few months, while also concentrating on his Invictus Games Foundation. There are no details so far on what the venture could be, which will be one of the first tasks for the Sussex's newly formed team of advisors. But Jennie said: "Personally, I think this commercial route opens him up to all sorts of accusations of trading on his royal status which would make him an even angrier young man than at present. "I think Harry is still trying to figure out where he goes from here. By normal standards, he's a very rich man, but life in Montecito doesn't come cheap, especially with all the security costs he deems necessary. "So is he content for his wife to be the breadwinner while he concentrates on the children and charity work? There's nothing wrong with that but he might feel he needs to pursue commercial ventures too." Prince Harry's recent appearances have seen him promote his charitable and non-profit causes. And Jennie added: "There's nothing wrong with being a stay-at-home dad and using his influence to help charities around the world. He's brilliant at interacting with people and at just being Harry. He should perhaps stick to what he's born to, trained for and truly good at." Ncuti Gatwa gives real reason he quit Doctor Who as fans say it 'wasn't planned'
Ncuti Gatwa shocked Doctor Who fans last night during the BBC show's big finale, which revealed that the star would be leaving the role of The Doctor after just two series Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa is set to go down in the show's 62 year history for many reasons but one reason being as one of the few actors who served the shortest time. After just two series of the iconic sci-fi drama, Ncuti shared with fans that he was stepping down from his role as the Time Lord. While he blamed the physical and mental demands of the show, especially his character, as the reason he quit, fans have speculated that his exit was not a planned one. Ncuti, 32, has been replaced by Billie Piper who starred in the BBC sci-fi drama alongside Christopher Ecclestone, who only lasted one series. Ncuti recorded a video explaining to fans his reason to quit and said: "It's a role that demands a lot of you physically and emotionally and mentally. The actors playing the Doctor are only actors playing the Doctor. Unfortunately, we are mere mortals." He added: "I would love to have the energy and the youth to be able to do this full time for the rest of my life, but my knees are telling me it's time." But die-hard fans think there may be another reason behind his exit. Taking to X, a fan named Mr Tardis wrote: "In October 2024, Ncuti Gatwa was on 'The Graham Norton Show' saying he was going to be filming another series of DW next year. In June 2025, he officially leaves the show and regenerates. This was never the plan. What a shame. He deserved so much better." Another said: "In situations like that, they'll often shoot two different alternative scenes: one where the series continues, and one to finish things off. Ncuti may well have actually thought he'd be staying on back in October 2024, even after filming a regeneration scene just in case." Meanwhile another fumed: "i am so f****g sad. its one thing to see your doctor regenerate because they chose to, another to see it happen because of behind the scenes s**t. i loved literally every episode this era. ive been defending it the whole time. this.. this kinda broke me." Adding to his exit speech, Ncuti said: "You know when you get cast, at some point, you are going to have to hand back that sonic screwdriver and it is all going to come to an end, but nothing quite prepares you for it. This journey has been one that I will never forget and a role that will be part of me forever. He added: "There are no words to describe what it feels like to be cast as the Doctor, nor are there words to explain what it feels like to be accepted into this iconic role that has existed for over 60 years and is truly loved by so many across the globe." The former Doctor Who star continued: "The fans are truly the final character and beating heart of this show and I can't thank the Whoniverse, and the Whovians, enough for welcoming me in, and making this such a touching experience. I've loved every minute of it, but now is the time to hand over the keys to that beloved blue box and let someone else take control and enjoy it every bit as much as I have. I'll truly miss it, and forever be grateful to it, and everyone that has played a part in my journey as the Doctor." Meanwhile showrunner Russell T. Davies expressed his sadness over Ncuti's decision to step down. He chimed: "What a Doctor! Thank you, Ncuti! As his final words say, this has been an absolute joy, and the team in Cardiff and everyone who has worked on this show for the past few years, are so lucky to have been part of Ncuti's great adventure as he shoots off to stratospheric new heights." He added: "Billie once changed the whole of television, back in 2005, and now she's done it again! It's an honour and a hoot to welcome her back to the Tardis, but quite how and why and who is a story yet to be told. After 62 years, the Doctor's adventures are only just beginning!" A spokesperson for Doctor Who declined to comment.

Patsy Kensit reveals Emmerdale and EastEnders return chances
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Former Emmerdale star Patsy Kensit revealed that she'd 'give anything' to return to EastEnders if the opportunity arises. The Lethal Weapon 2 actress played Emma Harding, mum to former mainstay Lola Pearce, on the long-running BBC serial two years ago. To soap audiences, this wasn't Patsy's first role in the genre, having played schemer Sadie King on Emmerdale between 2004 and 2006. Sadie is a character that fans have longed to stage a comeback and therefore we couldn't resist asking her about the chances of such a thing on the red carpet at the British Soap Awards. 'I had an amazing time on Emmerdale but I loved EastEnders also very very much,' said Patsy. 'I would give anything to get back on that show because it was a joy, as was Emmerdale but if I could put a wish out, it would be to go back to Walford.' When Emma last left the Square, she had slept with Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) in a story that resulted in the patriarch's marriage to Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) coming to an end. There was subsequent discussion among fans about whether or not we'd see her stage a return – and if she could perhaps return with Phil's baby. Weighing in on such a theory, Patsy said: 'I mean, age allowing! That would be a medical miracle, would it not? But I think that would be a great way to come back – pushing a pram! More Trending 'But also Lexi, because she's got the teenage years yet. Isabella [Brown], who plays her is such a brilliant actress. 'There's a great relationship and conflict that could happen. But it's in the hands of the gods! And the gods are the writers on these shows – and the writing is brilliant. As it was on Emmerdale.' View More » Make it happen, EastEnders!
