The Repair Shop's Jay Blades charged with two counts of rape
TV presenter Jay Blades has been charged with two counts of rape, police have said.
The 55-year-old, who hosted the hugely popular BBC programme The Repair Shop, will appear in court next week over the charges.
West Mercia Police said on Tuesday: "Jason Blades, 55, of Claverley in Shropshire, has been charged with two counts of rape.
"He is due to appear at Telford Magistrates' Court on 13 August 2025."
Blades is best known as the presenter of The Repair Shop, which launched in 2017 and became a huge hit for the BBC, although he stepped down from hosting duties last year.
He has also hosted the programmes Money for Nothing, Jay and Dom's Home Fix and Jay Blades' Home Fix.
Blades, who has dyslexia, also fronted a documentary in 2022 in which he talked about how he learned to read when he was in his 50s.
He was awarded an MBE in 2021 for services to craft.

"Alfie Evitts, 22, from Oldbury, has now been charged with wounding and possession of an offensive weapon. "He appeared before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today and was remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at the city's Crown Court on 3 September. "The other man, aged 42, currently remains in hospital and will be questioned in due course. "We fully understand how shocking this incident will be to the community and we have increased patrols in the area. "Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 and quote 3908 of 3 August."

Third man tragically dies after horrific Dudley crash
A third man has sadly died following a three-vehicle collision in Upper Gornal this morning. The 22-year-old was taken to hospital but despite the efforts of medics has this afternoon passed away. Investigators are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision involving a Ford Transit van, a white Seat and a white Hyundai i20 vehicle, just after 7.30am today, Wednesday, August 6. The driver of the van was taken to hospital with minor injuries and has since been discharged. All three men who have died were in the Seat car. Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: 'This is a truly awful tragedy and our thoughts remain with loved ones of all those affected. 'Specialist family liaison officers are continuing to supporting them at this most dreadful time. "Investigations are progressing and we'd urge people not to speculate on the circumstances.
