Saudi Crown Prince Discusses Iran-Israel Escalation with US, European Leaders

The Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, has discussed the ongoing escalation between Iran and Israel with the leaders of the US, France and Italy, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). On Friday, the Saudi Crown Prince held a phone conversation with the US President, Donald Trump. During their call, they discussed the latest developments in the region, including Israeli military strikes on Iran. Both leaders stressed the need for self-restraint and de-escalation. They also emphasized the importance of resolving disputes through diplomatic means, reiterating the need for continued joint cooperation to establish security, peace and stability across the Middle East. On Saturday, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received separate phone calls from the French President, Emmanuel Macron, and the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni. During both calls, leaders discussed the latest regional developments and the implications of Israel's military operations against Iran. Moreover, they underscored the urgency of exerting all possible efforts to de-escalate the situation. The leaders also reaffirmed the need for restraint and resolving all disputes through diplomatic means. On Friday morning, Israel launched its biggest air offensive against Iran, targeting military and nuclear sites in an attempt to prevent Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. In response, Iran launched barrages of drones and ballistic missiles against Israel. The ongoing escalation raises fears over an all-out war between the two longstanding foes, which could spark a wider conflict across the region. Saudi Arabia expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the Israeli aggressions against Iran, which undermine its sovereignty and security and constitute a clear violation of international laws and norms, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday. King Salman Directs Full Support for Stranded Iranian Hajj Pilgrims

King Salman ordered Saudi authorities on Friday to assist Iranian Hajj pilgrims stranded in the Kingdom as regional tensions flared. He emphasized that these pilgrims must receive all necessary support until it is safe for them to return home. This directive highlights Saudi Arabia's commitment to ensuring the well-being of all pilgrims during the Hajj season. Israeli Airstrikes Trigger Regional Tensions The King's order followed early-morning Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian nuclear sites, nuclear scientists, and military chiefs. Consequently, Tehran immediately closed the country's airspace, impacting travel for many and leaving numerous pilgrims unexpectedly unable to depart. However, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman presented the comprehensive aid plan to the King, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah assuming full responsibility to provide Iranian pilgrims with the essential care and provisions. The annual Hajj pilgrimage concluded on Monday, marking a significant event for Muslims worldwide. This year, tens of thousands of Iranians participated, contributing to the total of over 1.6 million pilgrims. Authorities described the pilgrimage as a success, showcasing Saudi Arabia's ability to host large gatherings safely and efficiently. Escalating Tensions Later on Friday, Iran retaliated against the Israeli attack by targeting Tel Aviv with missiles. This escalation raises concerns about prolonged and dangerous exchanges of fire in the region. The situation remains tense, and the international community watches closely as events unfold. Saudi crown prince, Macron discuss repercussions of Israel-Iran clash

RIYADH: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and France's President Emmanuel Macron had a phone call on Friday to discuss the latest developments in the region, according to the Saudi Press Agency. The two leaders discussed the repercussions of Israeli strikes on Iran, which has killed 78 people, including generals and scientists, and wounded 320 others. Iran retaliated later in the day, raining missiles and weaponized drones on Israeli cities, causing destruction. In their phone conversation, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Macron "emphasized the necessity of making every effort to de-escalate the situation, the importance of exercising restraint, and resolving all disputes through diplomatic means," the SPA report said. Macron had earlier announced that a UN conference on a two-state solution for Israel and the Palestinians that France and Saudi Arabia planned to co-chair next week in New York had been postponed because of the Israel-Iran clash. "While we have to postpone this conference for logistical and security reasons, it will take place as soon as possible," Macron said at a press conference.
