Ava Max strips down to a bikini for patriotic new single ahead of her July 4th concert

Ava Max transformed herself into a patriotic pin-up model for the racy music video for her new single Wet, Hot American Dream arriving just in time for the States' July 4th Independence Day.
In it, the 31-year-old pop star paraded her petite 5ft1in figure in a red string bikini and matching high-heeled boots in front of a massive American flag.
Ava (born Amanda Koçi) whipped around her signature lopsided extensions in the wild clip filled with clichéd American summer tropes like pick-up trucks, playing with a garden hose, eating hot dogs, and licking watermelon.
Max - who's frequently accused of being a derivative Lady Gaga lookalike - made sure to flash her underboob cleavage while swinging around a baseball bat in a dangerously-cropped jersey.
'So, don't, don't be shy / Show me yours and I'll show you mine,' the Wisconsin-born daughter of Albanian immigrants sang.

'Tell me all your dirty secrets (Uh-huh) / All your fantasies (Like me?) / I wanna be your blue jean, white tee, wet, hot American dream / I'm not like other cowgirls (Uh-huh) / Unless you want me to be.'
Ava's suggestive lyrics also included: 'Hit you up, Friday night / Pick up truck, baby, let's drive / Nice and slow, take control / This ain't my first time ridin' at the rodeo.'
The gratuitous, lingering shots of Max's body prompted X fan account @nicci_avamax to tweet: 'She knew exactly what she was doing.'
The Wonderful World of Disney star is set to perform live during Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular, which airs this Friday at 8pm ET on NBC.
The free concert featuring a firework spectacular over the Brooklyn Bridge will be hosted by Ariana DeBose and it will also feature Lenny Kravitz, Jonas Brothers, Trisha Yearwood, Keke Palmer, and Eric Church.
On August 22, Atlantic Records will release Ava's third studio album Don't Click Play featuring previously released singles Lovin Myself and Lost Your Faith.
Max will then kick off her 31-date Don't Click Play Tour on September 3 at the Greek Theatre in LA.
'I love it so much. I can't wait for everybody to hear,' the Whatever singer gushed to People on May 30.

Ava admitted she had previously 'let the comments get to me the last two years, and I changed who I was for other people.'
'I switched management, but I also took some time for myself,' Max said of her transformation.
'I started loving myself. I started working out more. I started taking time for myself. I didn't feel like I had that time before or was allocating that me time.'
The Forever Young singer currently boasts 13.4M social media followers and averages 32M monthly listeners on Spotify.
Ava first found fame in 2018 with her breakthrough single Sweet but Psycho, which reached No. 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 in 22 other countries.

Scientists define six traits that make a person ‘cool' – and they transcend borders

People deemed 'cool' boast six surprisingly similar personality traits across cultures, according to a new study that hints at the role played by broadcast media in standardising the meaning of the term. While their cultures vary greatly, the definition of a cool person in Eastern and Western social circles seems to be identical, according to the study published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology. The study is based on psychology experiments conducted from 2018 to 2022 with about 6,000 adult participants from the US, Australia, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Germany, India, Mexico, Nigeria, Spain, South Africa, South Korea, and Turkey. Each participant was asked to think of someone they thought was 'cool', 'not cool', 'good', or 'not good', and then rate that person's personality and values. Using this data, researchers assessed how cool people differed from 'uncool' and 'good' people. 'Everyone wants to be cool, or at least avoid the stigma of being uncool, and society needs cool people because they challenge norms, inspire change, and advance culture,' study co-lead researcher Todd Pezzuti explained. 'The concept of coolness started in small, rebellious subcultures, including Black jazz musicians in the 1940s and the beatniks in the 1950s. As society moves faster and puts more value on creativity and change, cool people are more essential than ever.' In spite of cultural variations, cool people were universally perceived as being more extroverted, hedonistic, powerful, adventurous, open, and autonomous, researchers from the American Psychological Association found. In comparison, 'good' people were perceived as more conforming, traditional, secure, warm, agreeable, universalistic, conscientious, and calm. While there are some overlapping traits, researchers point out that being cool isn't necessarily considered 'good' in a moral sense. The growth of fashion, music and film industries globally has seen the meaning of cool 'crystallise on a similar set of values and traits around the globe', becoming 'more commercially friendly', the study noted. 'Coolness has definitely evolved over time but I don't think it has lost its edge. It's just become more functional,' Dr Pezzuti said. Researchers said their findings could help better understand the role played by 'coolness' in establishing social hierarchies and changing social and cultural practices and norms. 'The fact that cool people are seen as having a similar attribute profile around the world and that these attributes are distinctly cool rather than good in general makes a strong case that coolness is a meaningful construct that can help explain how people understand, order, and structure their social world,' they wrote. 'If coolness emerged as a status granted to those who inspire and facilitate cultural change, then perhaps we shouldn't be surprised that cool people, from San Francisco and Santiago to Sydney and Seoul, show traits that would make them more likely to question convention, innovate, and persuade others to change.'

Jimmy Swaggart: Pioneer televangelist dies aged 90

Jimmy Swaggart - a pioneer of televangelism in the US - has died aged 90. Last month, the American Pentecostal preacher suffered a cardiac arrest at his home in Louisiana and was taken to a local hospital. His death was announced on Tuesday on his public Facebook page, though no cause of death was given. At one point, Mr Swaggart was the most famous TV evangelist in the US - preaching the word of God to millions of followers at home and abroad. But his vast audience dwindled when he was caught on camera with a prostitute in 1988. Mr Swaggart was serving as a co-pastor of the Family Worship Centre in Baton Rouge when he died. He was born in 1935 - and "after a dramatic salvation experience at the age of eight, felt the call of God on his life." According to his website: "He spent hours reading the Bible, praying, and, after a certain revival meeting, decided to ask God for the talent to play the piano." Mr Swaggart's first album, Some Golden Daybreak, was released in 1958. Since then, 17 million recordings have been sold. The Grammy-nominated pastor took up evangelistic work full-time in 1954 and was ordained by the Assemblies of God in 1961. He preached the gospel on TV for longer than any other American evangelist, according to his ministry's website. The Campmeeting Hour, Mr Swaggart's first radio programme, aired in 1969 - and within five years, the show was broadcasting on 700 radio stations in the US. His career in TV started in 1973 with the 30-minute weekly programme, The Jimmy Swaggart Evangelistic Association Presents Jimmy Swaggart, also known as the Jimmy Swaggart telecast. In 2010, Mr Swaggart launched the SonLife Broadcasting Network (SBN), a 24-hour Christian channel. Prostitute scandals He was defrocked by the Assemblies of God in 1988 after pictures surfaced of him with a prostitute. The pictures were handed in by rival TV evangelist Marvin Gorman, who was also defrocked after Mr Swaggart accused him of "immoral dalliances" in 1986. Following the scandal, Mr Swaggart delivered his famous "I have sinned" speech in front of a congregation of 7,000 in Baton Rouge, where he sobbed and asked for his wife's forgiveness, while falling short of detailing what his sin was. Mr Swaggart carried on as an independent Pentecostal preacher - but in 1991, he was found by police in California in the company of another prostitute after being stopped for a traffic violation.

EXCLUSIVE Pete Davidson reveals shocking family illness while debuting new appearance on stage

Pete Davidson has revealed a family tragedy as he took the stage over the weekend, with the comedian opening up about his complicated feelings around his grandfather's health. The 31-year-old comedian performed at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on Friday with Jon Stewart and John Mulaney as part of the North to Shore Festival. Pete stepped out on stage with a different look as he revealed his growing facial hair - a beard and mustache, Daily Mail can exclusively reveal. He's normally clean shaven and sporting a hoodie. But, for the show, he wore a navy blue T-shirt, a crewneck sweatshirt, skinny jeans, and a New York Yankees baseball cap. The Saturday Night Live alum shared childhood stories during his set, avoiding talk about his past and current A-list dating life. He's now dating model Elsie Hewitt, who was supporting him backstage during his set. Instead, he spoke about his 'dying' grandfather - his mom Amy Davidson's dad. Pete revealed his growing facial hair - a beard and mustache. His outfit consisted of a navy blue T-shirt on top of a crewneck sweatshirt, skinny jeans and a New York Yankees baseball cap 'He got the lung cancer and I'm not that close with him. I'm close with my dad's dad. I don't like my mom's dad,' he explained to the crowd. The Bupkis star then made the shock allegation: 'He used to beat the s**t out of me and I don't like him very much.' Pete continued his stand up by describing his 81-year-old grandfather: 'He's old school, he's very Irish. You know those old Irish Jews that are so Irish, they're like pink, right? 'His veneers are somehow brown. He's just an old school dude, and he's dying.' Unlike her mom's dad, Pete's other grandfather, from his late father's side, Stephen Davidson, has a close relationship with the actor and the 85-year-old was even featured in his film, The King of Staten Island, back in 2020. He continued: 'I want to be there for my mom. She's sad about it.' He then revealed his hopes for his grandpa's future: 'I'm low key, thrilled. I'm like, die slow motherf**er.' Pete explained that his grandfather has emphysema, a chronic lung disease that makes it difficult to breathe, and told the audience that he hopes his grandpa 'f**king rots.' He added that it's a 'tough' situation because he wants 'to be there' for his mom, but, deep down, he's 'so stoked' about his grandfather's impending death. 'I don't want to be rude to my mom. I think I have the best mom in the world. I'm very, very lucky. So I've been trying to remember a good time that me and my grandpa had so I could hold onto it,' he said. The SNL alum went on to share a childhood story with the crowd to touch base on a 'few positive experiences' he's had with his grandfather growing up, including an inside joke they shared about their enjoyment over a popular online entertainer, 'cake fart girl.' He ended his story reiterating that his grandfather is 'going to die soon.' A source close to Pete told Daily Mail, 'Pete loves his family and like most family dynamics, his is just as complicated. 'He normally opens up about his upbringing during his standup and like all comedians, he pushes boundaries. This joke, specifically, was made in jest.' Pete suffered a well-known tragedy in the past when his father, Scott Davidson, died during the horrific September 11th attacks as he was working as a FDNY firefighter. Pete recently told People that he had a 'really sh**ty childhood' and the 'worst thing that ever could have happened' to him was when he was seven years old and his father died. He said, 'At the end of the day, it's like your family matters and your two or three friends that you have matter. 'Everybody else can go f**k themselves,' he added, 'And you don't have to put all this pressure on yourself.' Pete's change to his appearance comes after he revealed he had removed his sleeves of tattoos - a long process which he has undertaken over the last few years. As of April, he revealed he's made significant progress after spending over $200,000 on the procedure, with most of his head, neck, and arms largely cleared of tattoos. According to the comedian, he decided to remove the ink because his tattoos reminded him of a 'sad person' and a bad time in his life. 'I used to be a drug addict, and I was a sad person, and I felt ugly and that I needed to be covered up,' he previously confessed to Variety. 'And I don't think there's anything wrong with tattoos, but mine, when I look at them, I remember a sad person that was very unsure. 'So I'm just removing them and starting fresh because that's what I think works best for me and for my brain. When I look in the mirror, I don't want the reminder of "Oh yeah, you were a f**king drug addict. Like, that's why you have SpongeBob smoking a joint on your back." They should have meaning.' In July 2024, he checked into a wellness facility to seek mental health treatment. While not much was revealed at the time, he admitted to still using marijuana, after quitting both cocaine and ketamine use, shortly before he entered treatment. He appears to be doing well after starting a new relationship with Elsie, a 29-year-old model who has shared rare photos of the two of them together on social media. The pair made their red carpet debut in New York City last month at the 13th Annual Blossom Ball, where Elsie was open about her fight with endometriosis. The outspoken 'endo warrior' told Daily Mail that she was feeling much better after undergoing treatment for the condition that causes severe pain in the pelvis area. 'I feel so much better it's actually insane,' she said before gushing about how Pete takes 'very good' care of her. 'He has all the heating pads, all the water bottles ready to go, feeds me. It's very sweet.' She added that she and Pete are 'very happy' together and that she felt 'really lucky that he came out and wanted to support.' She added, 'I know this is important to him; it's super important to me, so I feel very lucky.' The couple is now living together, according to TMZ. A source revealed that the lovebirds are balancing time between Davidson's home in upstate New York and a Brooklyn brownstone they're renting.
