The cell and helpline aid cops in obtaining information to verify smuggling-related activity, create profiles on persons of interest and understand the nexus of different gangs. They also help identify drug hotspots, and monitor and act against illegal drug supply in NCR coordinated through the dark web.
Speaking on the commissionrate's future drug control plans, commissioner Singh said that their focus will be on de-addiction programmes. Police will run continuous awareness programmes to inform residents, particularly youths, of the ill effects of drugs.
