QARS participates in Int'l Amateur Radio Exhibition

The Qatar Amateur Radio Society (QARS) participated in the world's biggest event for amateur radio enthusiasts, the International Amateur Radio Exhibition in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
QARS's pavilion at the exhibition, which wrapped up Sunday, drew significant interest from participants, who were introduced to the specifications of Qatari satellite Es'hail-2 launched in 2018.
The Es'hail-2 presentation was the most watched among all the other presentations delivered by participating amateur radio clubs and societies.
The International Amateur Radio Exhibition hosts the largest gathering of amateur radio organisations from around the world, along with numerous manufacturers of amateur radio equipment and devices, and several international and regional bodies involved in the hobby.
The participants also take part in seminars and lectures held alongside the exhibition.
The event includes a global forum for amateur radio enthusiasts, where topics related to the hobby and ways to develop it are discussed, particularly in light of the rapid growth in communications and information technology.
The exhibition also features displays of the latest and most advanced amateur radio equipment and devices, the holding of international licensing exams for aspiring amateur radio operators, in addition to honoring international enthusiasts who have long supported the hobby.
QARS Chairman Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah expressed his happiness with the Society's participation in the International Amateur Radio Exhibition, following several successful past appearances.
Al Attiyah emphasised the importance of Qatari members attending such international events, where the QARS sets up its own pavilion to showcase Qatar's key achievements in recent years, along with the Society's notable accomplishments in the amateur radio community both regionally and globally.
He added that the exhibition presents a valuable opportunity for Qatari amateur radio enthusiasts to gain international experience, exchange knowledge with global experts, and stay updated on the latest technological advancements in amateur radio equipment and systems.

MCIT opens nominations for 9th edition of Qatar Digital Business Award 2025
QNA Doha The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has announced the opening of nominations for the 9th edition of the Qatar Digital Business Award (QDBA) 2025. Submissions will be accepted until August 24, 2025. In a press statement on Thursday, MCIT said that the award aims to recognise and foster innovation and creativity in digital projects, thereby strengthening Qatar's leading position in the telecommunications, information technology, and digital innovation sectors. The 9th edition continues to focus on fostering innovation within advanced digital fields by highlighting notable achievements and best practices across several categories, including the 'Best Digital Transformation – Corporate; Best AI Solution – Corporate; Best Digital Experience – Corporate; Best ICT Service Provider – Corporate; Best Digital Transformation – SME; Best Digital Experience – SME; Best AI Solution – SME; Best Startup of the Year; Best Scale-Up of the Year; Research and Development Excellence; Best Smart Solution; Best Cybersecurity Solution; and Entrepreneur of the Year. Assistant Undersecretary for Digital Industry Affairs at MCIT HE Reem Al Mansoori said, 'The 9th edition of the Qatar Digital Business Award reflects our continued commitment to building a diverse and innovative digital economy. This award stands as a pioneering national initiative designed to stimulate digital innovation and promote a culture of excellence within the nation's digital business landscape. MCIT trains 22 Dreama students in AI and programming
QNA Doha The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), through its 'Studio 5' initiative, organised its first Summer Camp of 2025, focusing on artificial intelligence and programming. The camp was held in collaboration with the Orphans Care Centre (Dreama). A total of 22 students from Dreama, aged seven to 18, participated in an interactive training programme that combined theory with practical application. Designed to accommodate different age groups, the camp focused on three key areas: programming, AI, and robotics, to open new pathways for learning and creativity in a stimulating digital environment. Structured over two weeks, the camp catered to different age groups from Dreama Centre. Younger participants (aged seven to 10) attended the first week, followed by older students (aged 11-18) in the second week. Both groups received three days of training, with daily two-hour sessions. The camp's activities focused on developing participants' skills in programming, artificial intelligence, and robotics, through practical projects to build a smart city and monitor weather changes. The camp concluded with students presenting their projects in an inspiring experience that reflected their advanced skills and growing understanding of modern technologies. The summer camp stands as a key highlight in the 2025 summer programme series. It reflected a shared commitment to empowering the emerging generation with advanced knowledge and technical skills in technology and digital manufacturing. Studio 5 is an innovative Fab Lab established by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to empower children, youth, and educators through immersive technology education. As a dynamic community platform, it provides cutting-edge technology and hands-on experiences, fostering problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, and innovation skills. Mada launches MadaInnovation Award 2025
QNA Doha As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting innovation and promoting digital inclusion for persons with disabilities and the elderly, the Qatar Assistive Technology Center (Mada) has officially announced the launch of the 2025 edition of the Mada Innovation Award. This strategic initiative aims to foster the development of innovative technological solutions that improve the quality of life for target groups, with a focus on solutions powered by artificial intelligence (AI). This unique initiative is funded by the Social and Sport Contribution Fund (Daam), reflecting the alignment of national efforts to achieve sustainable community development. The Mada Innovation Award is the first of its kind in the region to focus on innovation in digital accessibility and assistive technology. It aims to empower emerging entities and entrepreneurs by transforming their creative ideas into practical and impactful solutions that address the needs of persons with disabilities and the elderly in today's evolving digital environment. The 2025 award introduces three new funding categories, based on the maturity and impact level of each project: • Emerging Innovations (QR 50,000 - 70,000): For early-stage solutions with strong potential in the field of digital accessibility. Two winners will be selected. • Promising Innovations (QR 71,000 - 100,000): For mid-stage innovations seeking to accelerate development into deployable applications. Two winners will be selected. • Rising Innovations (QR 101,000 - 150,000): For mature solutions that have demonstrated measurable impact and effectiveness. One winner will be selected. Applicants can submit their entries through two main tracks: the first is 'Direct Grant Track', which targets innovative entities that already have a proven concept for a product or service in the assistive technology domain. Qualified applicants will receive direct financial support under the 'Mada Innovation Program' to further develop their solutions in line with the needs of the local and Arab markets, ensuring readiness for real-world deployment in inclusive and sustainable environments. The Second track is the 'Localization Track', which focuses on international solutions that are already operational in the fields of ICT and assistive technology and are seeking to localize their products into Arabic. It reflects Mada's commitment to expanding global innovation into Arabic-speaking contexts, thereby making digital accessibility tools more usable and culturally relevant across the Arab world. The award process includes several phases, starting with the application period, open until September 24, 2025, via the official award website: This is followed by internal evaluation and a review by an expert jury panel of ten specialists in innovation, technology, and inclusion. The top 20 shortlisted projects will advance to the mentorship phase, where participants will receive specialized advisory support across five innovation areas. The journey culminates in a Final Pitch Day, during which applicants will present their solutions to the jury. The winners will then enter a four-and-a-half-month development phase, where they will benefit from technical guidance and advisory support to transform their projects into scalable, market-ready solutions.
