Ryan Truex looks to enjoy Mexico weekend driving Denny Hamlin's car
MEXICO CITY — Over the past couple of weeks, Ryan Truex admits that when crew chief Chris Gayle texted him 'my heart would stop.'
Did Denny Hamlin, awaiting the birth of his son, need Truex to drive his car?

'Is it yes or no?' Truex said. 'Every time it was a maybe.'
Until Wednesday when Hamlin's fiancee had the couple's child and Hamlin decided to skip this weekend's race at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. Truex — who is Joe Gibbs Racing's reserve driver and also does much of the team's simulation work — was on plane Thursday for Mexico.
The last time a Truex raced in Mexico, Martin Truex Jr. won the inaugural Xfinity race at this track in 2005. After Ryan Truex texted his big brother about his news, Martin texted back: 'Truex's are one-for-one in Mexico.'
As Ryan Truex noted: 'So, no pressure.'
Dustin Long,
This will be his first Cup start since 2014.
'My last time in Cup was not a fun experience,' Truex said of his time with BK Racing, an underfunded team that later went into bankruptcy and had to sell its charter. 'It didn't go well for me. I didn't enjoy it. That was probably not the right move for me, career-wise, and I've kind of been fighting back since then.
'I enjoy everything I do at JGR. I've been able to race part time the last couple of years, and do all of this stuff away from the track. It has been nice. It has been fun to race part-time and have some Saturdays at home, but it is also fun to be at the track, so I feel like I've had a good balance the last few years and the Cup cars then are so different than what they are now.'
Nate Ryan,
Truex has 102 career Xfinity starts. He three career series wins have come in his last 18 Xfinity starts.
In Friday's first practice session, Truex was 36th on the speed chart among 37 cars.
Truex says he has modest goals for this weekend.
'Really just want to enjoy it,' he said ahead of Friday's practice sessions. 'I don't really have any set goals or expectations – I just want to enjoy the weekend. I'm driving a Cup car for Joe Gibbs at an international race – this is not something I ever dreamed of doing, just want to take it all in and have a good time.'

ALL SET FOR THE 2025 MILAN CUP IN CATTOLICA
Everything is ready for the eleventh edition of the Milan Cup, the traditional sporting event dedicated to young Rossoneri. Again this time, in its third consecutive year, the Cup will take place in Cattolica, a choice that confirms its success there in the last few seasons, as well as the warmth of locals. Crowded stands and enthusiastic support can be expected at the Giorgio Calbi Stadium that will host a weekend of sport, friendship and shared values. The official inauguration will be on Friday 13 June, while the matches will be played throughout the day on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 June. On Saturday, the schedule will have matches from 9:00 until 17:30, whereas Sunday will be dedicated to the second phase of the tournament ahead of the prize ceremony. At the 2025 Milan Cup, 48 AC Milan affiliated teams will partake, representing different parts of the youth sector, even from abroad (those two teams are coming from Romania and Switzerland). Advertisement In total, there will be around 750 boys and girls involved, split into three categories: Primi Calci, Pulcini 1° anno and Pulcini 2° anno. Guiding them will be a team of 96 managers - two for each team - and accompanied by around 100 members of technical staff. The event also expects to welcome around 1500 spectators made up of family, friends and youth football lovers, ready to support young footballers in this event full of celebration and sport. There will also be some great guests at the event: Nelson Dida, former Rossoneri keeper and club legend will be there, together with Karen Appiah, a Women's First Team player, Ernesto Perin and Alessandro Longoni, a Primavera midfielder and keeper, both in the Italy youth set up. Furthermore, there will be exclusive videos from men's and women's first team players that will be shared with participants to give them encouragement and inspiration. A special moment will be dedicated to Kindness, with ad hoc spaces created to reflect on respect, solidarity and educational values that characterise AC Milan's youth system. Throughout the event, the theme of kindness will be at the centre of many activities: inspirational sayings will be displayed throughout the Sport Centre, while on the Tournament's Official App, there will be a "Virtual Wall" where videos and photos exemplifying kindness will be uploaded. Furthermore, every gesture of fair play will be highlighted with a "Green Card", a symbol used to reward positive behaviour. Advertisement The Milan Cup is not only a competition: it's about growth, sharing and passion, in line with the Rossoneri Academy's philosophy both on and off the pitch. The event, that closes the Rossoneri Academy's season, shows the attention of the Club and our partners (particularly Banco BPM) towards developing talent and spreading values that AC Milan, and our whole project, looks to promote. The host of the 2025 event will be the journalist Romina Minadeo, from Milan TV, who will bring her energy and professionalism with her. Entertaining the crowd, with their unique and ironic style, will be Il Milanese Imbruttito, aka Germano Lanzoni, the official voice of AC Milan in all of our important sporting events. There will be a banner parade on the opening day, on the theme of Fair Play. The Football School that has the most original idea will be invited to display their banner at San Siro and the text, as per normal, will become the slogan of the next edition of the Milan Cup.

Liberty's Breanna Stewart speaks up about 9-0 Lynx
The post Liberty's Breanna Stewart speaks up about 9-0 Lynx appeared first on ClutchPoints. The New York Liberty are rolling. After an 85-66 win over the Chicago Sky at Barclays Center, the Liberty have pushed their unbeaten streak to a flawless 9 and 0. Advertisement But as much as the Liberty are dominating, Breanna Stewart knows they are not alone at the top. When asked about the Minnesota Lynx matching their perfect start, Stewart smiled and kept it honest. 'It's human nature just wondering who's kinda at the top of the standings,' she said after an all-around performance of 18 points, seven rebounds, and five assists against the Sky. Her words capture the silent tension building between two of the hottest teams in the WNBA. For now, both New York and Minnesota sit side by side as the only teams still undefeated. The Liberty's latest win over Chicago was another example of how deep and balanced this squad has become. Following Stewart closely in the charge was Sabrina Ionescu, dropping 23 points while dishing out seven assists of her own. The Liberty wasted no time taking control, making a 17-0 run in the third and never looking back. Advertisement With this victory, New York joins an elite list as only the ninth team in league history to open a season 9-0. The offense has been clicking on all cylinders while the defense continues to suffocate opponents. Chicago struggled all night to find any rhythm against New York's pressure. Even with Angel Reese posting a double-double, the Sky could not close the gap. On the other side of the league, Minnesota continues to match New York win for win. The Lynx recently took care of business against Dallas, led by Napheesa Collier's 28 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams now stare each other down from a distance, knowing a collision course may be inevitable. Stewart's acknowledgment of the standings shows she feels that growing energy. She understands what is building. Every win adds to the pressure. Every perfect record fuels the conversation. Both teams are not just winning, they are dominating. The Liberty has already picked up several blowout victories this season, while the Lynx continue to impose their will defensively. As the Liberty turn their attention to the Commissioner's Cup, their unbeaten run in both the regular season and the Cup only adds fuel to the fire. For now, Stewart and the Liberty are enjoying their place at the top. But everyone knows this quiet battle with the Lynx is far from over. The real fireworks may be just around the corner.
