BJP MP Krishnaiah urges BCs to support Kavitha in ‘Rail Roko'
Hyderabad: BC Welfare Association leader R Krishnaiah on Sunday urged the Backward Caste communities to support BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha on increasing the reservations to BCs in the local body elections. The Jagruthi president sought Krishnaiah's support for the proposed 'Rail Roko' on July 17. MP R Krishnaiah extended his full support for the BC movement being led by Telangana Jagruthi President Kalvakuntla Kavitha. He said that the association would stand firmly with and participate in every program, including the 'Rail Roko' scheduled for July 17, jointly organized by Telangana Jagruthi and United Phule Front. He urged all BCs to become stakeholders in MLC Kavitha's movement.
On Sunday, Kavitha met Krishnaiah at his residence in Hyderabad. Kavitha requested his support for the 'Rail Roko' program, which aims to pressure the central government to approve the bill passed by the assembly to provide 42 per cent reservation for BCs in local body elections.
Speaking to reporters, Kavitha lauded Krishnaiah for leading numerous democratic and social movements. She stated that they have been fighting vigorously for two years to implement the Kamareddy BC Declaration given by the Congress party. She recalled that as a result of their struggle for 42 per cent reservation for BCs in local bodies, the assembly had passed two bills.
However, she criticized the government, stating that despite the possibility of providing 42 per cent reservations through a GO under Article 243(D) of the Constitution, the government was not doing so and was instead shifting the blame entirely onto the President, planning to go into elections without providing reservations. She accused the Congress government of limiting its love for BCs to words and not showing it in actions. She expressed the need to collectively confront this anti-people policy, especially with leaks suggesting that the cabinet meeting might decide on local body elections. She explained that public movements appear to be the only way to pressure both central and state governments, hence the 'Rail Roko' initiative. She declared, "Aur Ek Dhakka... BC Bill Pakka..."
Krishnaiah alleged that the state government was diverting public attention by rejecting the fact that the Constitution grants the state government the authority to determine the percentage of reservations in local bodies. He demanded that a GO be issued if there is genuine commitment to provide 42 per cent reservations. He warned that holding elections without providing reservations would be a historic betrayal of the BCs. He warned that elections must be held only after providing 42 per cent reservations for BCs, otherwise, there would be a 'war' in the state.

Shashi Tharoor Calls PM Modi "Prime Asset For India" In New Provocation For Congress
New Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor - who led the ruling BJP's anti-terrorism diplomatic outreach to the United States, Brazil, and three other nations last month, after Operation Sindoor - has called for more support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "energy, dynamism and willingness to engage (with other countries)" and labelled it "a prime asset for India on the global stage". In an article published by The Hindu (paywalled) Monday morning, Mr Tharoor said the outreach - seven cross-party MP delegations visited 32 countries, including the US, the European Union and member nations, Saudi Arabia, and Russia - was "a moment of national resolve and effective communication (and) affirmed that India, when united, can project its voice with clarity and conviction..." He said the delegations explained the "calibrated and measured" nature of India's military response to the Pahalgam terror attack, underscored Pakistan's continued links to terrorism. He specifically referenced the crossover of Indian and Pak delegations in the US and said, "Even as a Pakistani delegation was simultaneously present, we found US representatives... echoing our concerns and urging decisive action against terror groups... our arguments, grounded in facts and consistent advocacy, were reinforcing the legitimacy of India's position." "We consistently highlighted the severity of the threat from across our borders, aiming to build global consensus to hold perpetrators accountable," he wrote, calling the outreach a success. Mr Tharoor was one a dozen opposition leaders who were part of these delegations; the list included high-profile figures like Mr Tharoor and others from the Congress, as well as AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, the Shiv Sena (UBT)'s Priyanka Chaturvedi, the DMK's Kanimozhi. The Thiruvananthapuram MP's selection increased friction between himself and his party; the two already have a frosty relationship over several issues, including continuing positive words for the PM. That friction has led to talk of a blockbuster political switch, i.e., the four-time Lok Sabha MP, who was also a former top United Nations official and a former External Affairs Minister, was preparing to jump from the Congress to Mr Modi's side. In fact, after news of his appointment to lead the US-bound delegation, arguably the most important of the seven, sections of the Congress called him a 'super spokesperson' for the BJP's 'publicity stunts' and accused of flattering Prime Minister Modi. However, Mr Tharoor has repeatedly dismissed talk of a switch, insisting he could not swap the Congress for the BJP. Speaking to NDTV last week he again played down any friction with the party, calling such incidents "differences of opinion... with only some elements of leadership". When NDTV asked him how he would define his relationship with the Congress today, Mr Tharoor pointed out he had been loyal to the party and its ideology for the last 16 years.

Yatnal lashes out at BJP leadership in Karnataka
Vijayapura, June 23 (UNI) In a blistering attack on the BJP's state leadership, suspended BJP leader and senior MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal on Monday hinted at launching or joining a new political outfit, citing deepening disillusionment with the party's direction and alleged dynastic politics. Addressing reporters, Yatnal declared, "I am fighting this battle alone. One day, this isolation will become my strength — and I will become the Chief Minister of Karnataka. That could happen with BJP's support or even through a new party." Strongly opposing the elevation of BY Vijayendra, son of veteran leader BS Yediyurappa, Yatnal warned that pushing forward one family would spell doom for the BJP in Karnataka. "If Vijayendra continues to be projected, I will seriously reconsider my position. We will not follow a party that runs on dynasty," he said. Referring to Bihar politics, he said, "Nitish Kumar has just 30 MLAs and BJP has 80 — yet he's CM. I may have only 14, but with the right situation, I too can become CM." In a scathing critique of the Congress leadership, Yatnal alleged that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar's caste census politics was hollow and divisive. "Their claim of caste justice is a lie. Real social justice is about giving benefits to poor Hindus, Dalits — not vote-bank appeasement like 15% reservation for Muslims," he said. He also rejected any speculation of warming up to Congress, saying his ideology was firmly rooted in Hindutva. "Our politics must be Hindu-centric. Karnataka needs a system built on Hindutva values — not appeasement, not fake caste narratives," he said. Yatnal further alleged massive corruption among Karnataka's political elite. "Leaders are building assets in Dubai, Muscat, and Singapore while farmers and their children suffer. Go see the 4-star hotels in Shivamogga — who owns them? The people know," he remarked, in a veiled swipe at the Yediyurappa family. He also revealed that several senior leaders from both the BJP and Congress had reached out to him, suggesting the formation of a new party. "People say, forget BJP, forget Congress — let's start something new. But I won't take such a bold decision rashly," he clarified. Reiterating his loyalty to the BJP at the national level, Yatnal said he wants Narendra Modi to return as Prime Minister and Yogi Adityanath to succeed him. However, he asserted that "if Vijayendra remains the face of BJP in Karnataka, we will not be part of it." On not attending Vijayendra's wedding, he said, "I did not attend. That is my principle. I have no contact with them." He warned: "If this continues, BJP's future in Karnataka will be in jeopardy. We will then chart our own course — with a new party, a new vision, and a Hindutva foundation." UNI BDN PRS
