Comedian Milton Jones diagnosed with prostate cancer and forced to cancel tour dates
Comedian Milton Jones has announced he has been forced to cancel a raft of tour dates after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. The funnyman took to Instagram on Monday to update fans as he confirmed his health battle is 'treatable'. Apologising to his 71,000 followers, Milton, 60, promised that 'abnormal service will resume as soon as possible' and revealed he will have an operation over the next few weeks. The BBC Mock The Week star said: "I'm so sorry about this, but I need to announce the cancellation of several dates from my ongoing Ha!Milton Tour. Ticket holders for the cancelled shows will be contacted directly by the venue box office.." He went on in a statement: "The affected shows are in Leeds, Coventry, Basingstoke, Sterts, Launceston, Durham, Hexham, Ilkley, Wakefield, Lichfield, Tunbridge Wells, Portsmouth, and Lyme Regis which were all due to take place this summer. "This difficult decision comes following a recent diagnosis of treatable prostate cancer. I'll be undergoing surgery soon and will need time afterwards to fully recover. "In addition, the Summer dates in Colchester, Bridlington, Stroud, and London will be rescheduled to the Autumn. "All dates currently scheduled for the Autumn leg of the tour remain unaffected. "Ticket holders for the cancelled shows will be contacted directly by the venue box office. "Thanks for your support and respecting my privacy during this time. This decision has not been taken lightly. "Trust me, abnormal service will resume as soon as possible and I'm looking forward to being back out on the road again soon—though probably not on a bike!' Milton, who was set to play 70 venues in the tour this summer, has appeared on a raft of the biggest shows on UK TV including Mock the Week and Live At The Apollo and is known for his hilarious, dead-pan take on life. The comic also wrote the surreal, semi-biographical novel Where Do Comedians Go When They Die?: Journeys of a Stand-Up in 2009. Fans and famous faces flocked to Instagram to send well wishes, with Scots Olympic hero Sir Chris Hoy leading the sentiments. The cyclist, who was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer in 2023, said: "Really sorry to hear it mate, best of luck." Comedian Al Murray said: "All the best Milton for a speedy recovery." One fan said: "All good fishes coming your way from me!" One added: "Health before humour Milton. wishing you a speedy recovery sir." One said: "Thinking of you at this time, Milton." And one added: "Best of luck Milton. Get yourself well and you'll be back on the road soon enough."

The family of Race Across The World contestant Sam Gardiner have issued a message of thanks for the love and support following their son's death and also thanked people for donations to a fundraising campaign set up in his memory. The 24-year-old, who competed in the BBC One series alongside his mother Jo, died following a car crash last month. A JustGiving page launched in his memory by his family, in aid of National FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder), has so far raised more than £10,000. His mother said: 'We have been overwhelmed by the tens of thousands of messages of love and support on social media and in comments to press reporting. 'We would like to thank the BBC, Studio Lambert and everyone at Race Across The World production, fellow contestants and fans of the show for all their support at this terrible time. It has been very comforting to know that Sam touched so many people. 'I have been particularly moved by all the messages that Sam was an inspiration to many who have been impacted by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. 'We adopted Sam and he was diagnosed with FASD. As viewers of season two will recall, this was a big challenge both for Sam and for us as his parents. 'National FASD helped us on that journey. If some good comes of this tragedy, it will be that FASD is better understood.' Mr Gardiner was driving a white Volkswagen Golf R estate when it came off the road and rolled before landing on its side. The accident happened on the A34 in Gatley, near Cheadle, on Monday May 26 and he died on May 29 from his injuries, his family said last week. Broadcast in March 2020, Sam and Jo ventured across Mexico and Argentina as part of the second series of the BBC show. Mr Gardiner's father Andrew said: 'When the news broke last week, friends asked how they could help. 'After some thought, I decided to set up a JustGiving page to raise money for National FASD in memory of Sam. The page is called Sam Gardiner; Super Human. 'I set the target at £500 thinking a few friends might be generous enough to make a donation. So far it's raised 20 times that. It's very humbling to see the RATW family rally to this worthy cause.' The National Organisation for FASD says on its official website that it 'provides support to people with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, their families and communities, campaigns to raise public awareness, and promotes relevant policies and practices'. The website also describes FASD as resulting 'when prenatal alcohol exposure affects the developing brain and body.. It says: 'FASD is a spectrum. Each person with FASD is affected differently. 'While more than 400 conditions can co-occur, FASD is at its core a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition. All people with FASD have many strengths. Early diagnosis and appropriate support are essential, especially for executive functioning.' A message on the official National FASD Instagram account said: 'Sam lived his life full of love, exuberance and adventure as seen on BBC's Race Across the World. 'National FASD is both humbled and honoured to help carry on his legacy via donations coming from hundreds.' A private funeral will be held later this month.

Freddy Brazier smiles in first appearance since announcing he's entering rehab
Freddy Brazier has been spotted for the first time since announcing that he's entering rehab for an addiction to smoking. The 20-year-old son of Jeff Brazier and late Big Brother star Jade Goody revealed that he is seeking treatment at a facility in Spain. In a lengthy message posted to his Instagram account, Freddy admitted that he had picked up the habit at the age of 12. 'I've decided that I will be cutting down And I want to go to Rehab In Marbs [Marbella] as I feel if I'm in England I won't take getting clean seriously,' said Freddy, whose mother died when he was only four years old. 'I've been smoking from the age of 12 and it's time to stop it was a bad coping mechanism that turnt into an addiction something I relied on and something that made me feel sane and some what ok.' Freddy seemed in high spirits as he arrived at Jurassic World: The Experience at NEON this Saturday, at Battersea Power Station Posing in front of one of the franchise's iconic Velociraptors, Freddy wore a £2,000 Louis Vuitton patterned denim jacket with a plain black T-shirt and beige trousers and trainers.
