The Voice contestant from the 'elbow crease' of Massachusetts advances
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (WWLP) – The Voice contestant from Massachusetts who sang in the blind audition Monday night on 22News received a four-chair turn.
Conor James performed on stage in front of an audience with coaches Adam Levine, Kelsea Ballerini, John Legend, and Michael Bublé. The song he chose was 'I Say A Little Prayer' by Aretha Franklin.
Western Mass. music students place first in international competition, play Carnegie Hall
John Legend and Michael Bublé simultaneously turned their chairs within seconds of Conor's performance. Adam Levine was the third to turn around before Kelsey had a chance to block him, she turned around.
When Conor told the judges he was 28 years old from Bridgewater, Massachusetts, John Legend asked what part of Massachusetts. 'It's not the armpit of Massachusetts, but it's like the elbow crease,' Conor replied.
Conor ended up choosing veteran coach Adam Levine. Watch his full performance on The Voice. Season 27 returned on February 3rd and can be watched on Mondays at 8 p.m. on 22News.

New 10-week free concert series, 'The Pitt,' coming to downtown Pittsfield
PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A brand-new live music series is set to become the soundtrack of summer in downtown Pittsfield. Beginning June 13, The Pitt—a free, 10-week Friday night concert series—will take over Dunham Mall, offering a mix of live music, food, and local craft beer. Springfield Park celebrates renovation with new patio
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A local park in the north end of Springfield has welcomed a newly renovated patio area to the neighborhood. Italian Feast returns to Springfield's South End with reopening of historic social club The Jaime Ulloa Park is a stomping ground for many residents in the north end of Springfield. Some issues with the pavilion in the park made it hard for retired groups like the Domino Club to enjoy. 'The water was leaking from the roof, you couldn't play when it was raining, and it was uncomfortable,' said Jose Riveria, a Domino Club member. City Councilor Maria Perez brought the concerns to Mayor Domenic Sarno once she learned of the current conditions, and in a joint effort along with park management, it was time for a change. 'I came here every afternoon and I check how they are doing, what is needed,' said Perez. This t$225,000 project helped renovate new tables, posts, but a few benches were kept to keep the nostalgic feel of the area. It was all made official in a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Morgan Street Domino Club has been playing in the same spot for over 30 years, it's their home, and they're glad that they were heard. Playing dominoes isn't just an activity for the Latino community here; it's essential to embracing their culture. 'This is the beautiful things that happen to us. And we appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts,' said Tony, another Domino Club member. A new mural is possibly in the works as an addition to the new pavilion, and it might even honor the local legacy of the Domino Club. Door County offers concerts in the park six days a week in 2025. Here's your guide
Some things are new for Door County's "concerts in the park" series in 2025 – a couple of new names and locations, for example. But one thing that isn't new is the plethora of opportunities – eight different concert series, six afternoons or nights a week – to see and hear bands from across the area, across the state and in some cases across the country play free, outdoor concerts in scenic parks on the Peninsula. For 2025, that includes several performances during the first week of August that are part of the first-ever Door County Jazz Festival. Sundays through Fridays, music buffs can kick back back on some green space to check out these bands. Bring blankets or lawn chairs if you want to sit at most of these concerts. And of course, all schedules are subject to change, and in case of bad weather on performance nights, check out the concert series' social media sites for updates and information. Here's a look at Door County's concerts in the parks in 2025. There likely are a number of reasons the Sunset Concert Series at the Peg Egan Performing Arts Center, an outdoor amphitheater in Eames Cherry View Park, draws some of the county's largest audiences (2,000 or more) to its Sunday evening concerts. One of them certainly is its lineup, which annually includes award-winning national and international touring and recording artists. Such is the case for 2025, with world famous acts The Lettermen and Pure Prairie League among those taking the stage. And, like a concert in the park series, it's free to attend. Along with a big name or two, the Sunset Concert Series schedule traditionally includes returning favorites who've played this series or at other venues on the Peninsula. Award-winning and Grammy-nominated bluegrass duo Dailey & Vincent have played the Egan PAC every year the series has taken place since 2012, and other returnees include Celtic rock band Skerryvore, "The Voice" runner-up Chris Kroeze and jazz vocalist Janet Planet. All concerts start at 7 p.m. Sundays at the Peg Egan PAC, 7840 Church St., one block east of State 42. The outdoor amphitheater offers sweeping landscapes and sunsets over the harbor. In case of rain, performances will be held under a tent at the Alpine Resort, on County G on the south side of the village; no carry-ins are allowed at Alpine concerts.
