ITV Coronation Street star issues 'nine year' exit message as fans fume over same thing
Former Coronation Street star Paula Lane has marked nine years since her dramatic exit from the popular soap as Kylie Platt. The actress made her debut on the cobbles back in 2010.
Introduced as Becky McDonald's half-sister on the ITV soap, she initially sold her son Max to Becky before battling to regain custody. Paula took maternity leave from her role as nail technician Kylie in 2014.
This followed a storyline that saw her character spiralling out of control by abusing her son's ADHD medication and seeking drugs from her ex, Callum Logan. Her husband David threw her out, caring for Max and their daughter Lily as a single dad.
However, Kylie returned to the street in 2015 and soon found herself at the heart of the soap's live episode. As ITV viewers will recall, she killed her ex Callum by striking him with a wrench when she discovered him assaulting her sister-in-law Sarah.
Paula bid farewell to the ITV soap as she prepared to welcome her second child. This marked a bittersweet conclusion for Kylie, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.
Kylie had just revealed her family's plans to relocate to Barbados at the time of her death, to join her sister Becky, following her murder of ex Callum.
However, her anticipation about the move was disrupted when she spotted close pal Gemma Winter being attacked by teenager Clayton. Kylie rushed to assist Gemma but was shockingly knifed in the chest by Clayton, who escaped the scene, leaving David to hold his dying spouse in his embrace.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, nearly a decade after the scenes were broadcast, Paula uploaded a behind-the-scenes photograph from filming her devastating departure, showing herself lying on the cobblestones, chuckling in the arms of fellow actor Jack P Shepherd, who portrays David.
"9 years! My memory feed always goes crazy around this time," Paula captioned the image before mentioning Corrie and Jack, who then shared the post on his own Instagram.
However, some Corrie viewers expressed disappointment that the milestone wasn't acknowledged on the show, with one fan complaining: "Why didn't David or Lily bring up the fact its also the 9th anniversary of Kylie especially whilst discussing/processing another violent attacker? #corrie @itvcorrie it is like @Corriepedia doesn't exist."
Recently, Paula has been spotted featuring in Emmerdale. She became part of the cast of the ITV soap in 2024 last year as Ella Forster, who was evidently concealing something significant.
It emerged that Ella possessed a troubled past at the age of 11, having caused her best pals death and was imprisoned for the offence. Following her release, Ella, previously called Ruth, spent years relocating but ultimately sought security in the Dales.
She had secured employment and was developing romantic feelings for Dr Liam Cavanagh. As the reformed killer's world fell apart once more, Ella was implicated in drugging Liam's current fiancée, Chas Dingle.
Despite her denials, her pleas of innocence fell on deaf ears, resulting in her leaving the village. However, Ella made a final comeback to clear her name, but nearly caused Liam's death during a heated encounter in the woods.
Fortunately, Liam survived the incident and encouraged Ella to get professional assistance. Following this, Ella was arrested again, marking her departure from Emmerdale.

Bethenny Frankel, 54, sizzles in skimpy thong bikini after jaw-dropping SI Swimsuit runway appearance
Bethenny Frankel put her enviable bikini body on display in her latest Instagram post. The former Real Housewives of New York star, 54, showed off her trim figure in a tiny terracotta thong bikini, in a video she shared to her social media on Thursday. The 5′ 7″ star flaunted her trim midriff and toned legs in the two-piece, and added more height to her look with a pair of open-toe pink heels. In the clip the entrepreneur was advertising a t-shirt which featured three of the bikini looks she wore during the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit runway show last month - an appearance that left fans in awe of her age-defying physique. She began the clip in just her bikini, then transitioned to the t-shirt and heels. The mom-of-one further accessorized with a gold necklace, a watch and pink-tinted sunglasses. The clip was set to RuPaul's song 'Call Me Mother.' Frankel performed a runway walk on the dock next to her pool, mouthing the lyrics as she went. 'Shop the #Supermodel shirt now on her caption read. Frankel's Supermodel Tee retails for $55 on her website. Fans praised her svelte physique, with one writing, 'Dammmm girl you are a supermodel.' 'Wow Bethenny your body is ROCKING!!!' 'You just keep getting better and better,' another added. The brunette beauty also shared another bathing suit snap to her Instagram Stories, this time wearing a beige and white one-piece along with a straw hat as she lounged near the ocean. Last month Frankel stunned fans around the world as she strutted her stuff on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit runway in a barely-there bikini. She left little to the imagination at the event, leaving many wondering how exactly the reality TV star achieves her enviable physique. During the show, the Skinnygirl founder wore multiple looks, showing off her toned legs and stomach in a sultry pink polka dot bikini and black cover-up, which she later ripped off to reveal a thong bikini bottom underneath. In the clip the entrepreneur was advertising a t-shirt which featured three of the bikini looks she wore during the SI Swimsuit runway show last month When she reached the end of the runway, Frankel turned around to show her backside to the audience, as she jokingly covered her mouth in surprise. Later on during the runway show, she emerged in a denim bikini top and black bottoms, which she paired with a cowboy hat; she also flashed some side boob in tiny leopard-print one-piece swimsuit. As clips of the former Real Housewives of New York star circulated around the internet this weekend, many viewers couldn't help but wonder what the star has been doing both diet and fitness-wise to look that good. 'Show us the fitness routine now. Goals,' one person wrote in a comment on TikTok. Another agreed, 'We need a workout routine asap please.' It even caught the attention of her pal Lauren Sanchez, who reposted a clip of Frankel on the catwalk and gushed, 'We all need this energy. And this body. Wow.' After the big response to her walk, Frankel took to TikTok to share more about the buzz around her looks. She explained that although the internet was 'fascinated' by her age, weight, and appearance, it took a lot of contouring makeup and spray tanning to look like that. And though people may be begging her for her workout routine, it actually turns out that the star doesn't exercise - at all. 'I did not crash diet, I don't go to a gym, I don't have a workout, I walk on the beach,' she admitted. 'Everything I do has balance, I self-regulate, so I have a good relationship with food and exercise.' 'It wasn't always that way, this is not that I have a good metabolism or just good genes, because I used to be 25 pounds heavier in my early thirties,' Frankel continued. 'Why? Because I was fixated and obsessed, and I would binge and then starve.' Now, Frankel said that she approaches everything with balance. In the past, she's explained that the only form of activity she does is walking, sharing that she primarily enjoys long strolls on the beach. 'I walk now everyday, for the past several years I didn't really do much of anything, unless I was in a beach place, I'd walk on the beach, or if I was away snowboarding, I'd do that, but that's not something regular,' Frankel admitted in a video posted to her TikTok account last summer.

Oasis fan spent £700 'on thin air' after waiting years for Noel and Liam Gallagher reunion
Nevile Root, 20, was due to see the two brothers perform at their third night at Heaton Park on Wednesday (July 16) along with his girlfriend An Oasis fan has expressed his disappointment after spending £700 on tickets for their gig that turned out to be 'essentially spent on thin air'. Nevile Root, 20, had planned to watch the Gallagher brothers perform at their third night at Heaton Park with his girlfriend. A devoted follower of the band, Nevile has seen Noel and Liam perform solo numerous times over the years and stated that 'money was no object' when it came to the rare opportunity to see the band reunite after many years. However, his excitement was short-lived when he discovered that the two tickets he had purchased via the re-sale website Twickets had actually been sold to another customer through Ticketmaster's resale option seven months prior, reports the Manchester Evening News. The couple had taken the day off work and were looking forward to travelling from Preston to Manchester for the much-anticipated concert. They received the disappointing news on the morning of the show, leaving them with no choice but to miss the gig and request a refund. Including booking fees, they paid £724. The original ticket seller, based in Australia, had secured two tickets before the band announced additional world tour dates, which include performances in Sydney and Melbourne later this year. Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, he said: "Having looked forward to a potential reunion for many years, I was desperate to get hold of two tickets. I've seen Liam and Noel's solo projects several times so was dismayed that I'd missed out on both the presale opportunity and also tickets in the general sale. "I persevered and followed the guidance to use the only 'official' resale site, Twickets. I was made up when I managed to secure two tickets in early January to see them in Heaton Park." Neville added: "For me, this was the one gig where money was no object. But over £700 is a whole month's rent. It's more money than most 20-year-olds can spare on gig tickets, but I didn't want to miss the opportunity. "I emailed back and forth with the seller, a man from Australia, who had bought the Manchester tickets prior to the announcement of the Australian leg of the tour. No alarm bells rang, and he forwarded me all the confirmation emails from the original ticket purchase." Neville talked with the initial ticket seller, who informed him that the Ticketmaster app wouldn't allow the tickets to be transferred until the event was closer, typically between 48 and 24 hours before the show. Neville was stunned on the morning of Wednesday's gig to discover from the seller that his long-awaited tickets, bought via Twickets, were marked 'sold' on Ticketmaster's app, revealing a breach of Twickets' reselling rules. Twickets said: "I am sorry to hear what has happened. If the tickets appear as 'sold' in [the seller's] Ticketmaster account, than that would indicate that they have also listed and sold them on Ticketmaster resale, in contravention of the terms and conditions of our site unfortunately. "We therefore have no alternative but to withdraw the sale and issue you with a full refund, which should show on your card account in the next 2-3 working days." Expressing his disappointment, Neville said: "The most frustrating thing now is just not being able to go. On one hand, I haven't lost out financially but its the fact that there isn't much safeguarding in place and that seller's can do this. "They had already been sold in January but I didn't find out until the day of the show. We are incredibly disappointed after making travel arrangements, booking annual leave and purchasing t-shirts in preparation for today only to be told the morning of the event that we wouldn't be able to go." Neville felt misled by processes that seemed secure: "I feel as though we have been led down the garden path with having instruction to be patient and purchase resale tickets only to then to find these weren't legitimate to begin with. "I've essentially spent over £700 on thin air, and left with no chance of sorting it now because it's all so last minute. Had I have known months ago, I may have had a chance. This wasn't just like buying a ticket for a band who comes round every year, this was a big deal."
