Springfield home for its playoff run
The Springfield Cardinals will have the home field advantage for their first half playoff run.
In our Cardinals Nation update.
Springfield will open a two week home stand Tuesday night against the Tulsa Drillers.
It's the only time this season that the Cardinals will be at Hammons Field for back to back series.
And it couldn't come at a better time.
Springfield will open the series with a three game lead on the Texas League North.
If the Cardinals are still in first place on June 22nd they would win the North's first half championship.
And with that comes a ticket to the Texas League playoffs in September.
Tulsa is in for six games, then Corpus Christi is in from June 17th through the 22nd.
Springfield took five of the six games played at Tulsa in May.
And they have not faced the Hooks yet.
Both Tulsa and Corpus Christi are in last place in their respective divisions.

And I'll see you then.

Back to back 62's for Blanchet at Charity Championship
SPRINGFIELD, Mo–We're halfway through the 36th annual Price Cutter Charity Championship. And a golfer from Florida burned up the course in round two. Ozarks First's Chris Pinson has that story from Highland Springs. The second round of the 36th annual Price Cutter Charity Championship turned into a one-man show. As Chandler Blanchet set the tournament record for the lowest 36 hole total. The overnight leader began his day at 10 under par, but quickly found his groove and added to his lead with six birdies on the front 9 including an eagle to race out to minus 16. Chandler Blanchet/36-hole leader -20:'Rolled it really, really well today. Probably played the par 5s a little better yesterday but took care of everything else on the par 4s and 3s.' After making the turn, Blanchet birdied the par 5 11th, but then found trouble off the 12th tee. However, he managed to scrape out a par thanks to a great up and down from the bunker to remain bogey free. 'Ya know, 10-under's pretty special round and you're not gonna have those every day and I'm super thankful I had it today but who knows what I'll have tomorrow. Ya know so, I figured there'd be some point today where we'd miss a fairway or green it's ok, so I handled myself really well today,' said Blanchet. After that, Blanchet recorded three more red figures, vaulting him to 20 under par. He could've gotten to 21-under but missed his birdie putt on 18. 'Not much changes I've played this course write a few times now. So same targets same gameplan I feel super comfortable out here just attack the par 5s and get birdies when I can,' said Blanchet. Blanchet's 2-day total of 164 breaks the previous mark of 168 set back in 2015 by Dawie Van Der Walt. He's six shots clear of the field heading into the weekend. Putting himself in perfect position to win his first Korn Ferry Tournament. Reporting at Highland Springs Country Club, Chris Pinson Ozark's First.> Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. $4M Cowboy earns 1st-place votes, 'best guard in football' praise in ESPN iOL rankings
When the Dallas Cowboys drafted Tyler Smith out of Tulsa, they had grand intentions. The plan was that he would play next to future Hall of Famer Tyron Smith, then take over as the left tackle of the future. Of course, front office plans aren't always viable once things start flying, and Smith has settled in at left guard in the Cowboys' offensive line. Settled in doesn't quite do justice to what has transpired, as the 2022 first-round pick has become one of the NFL's top interior protectors, recently making the top-10 list composed by NFL executives at the behest of ESPN. Not only did he rise from Honorable Mention (following his All-Pro 2023 campaign), he landed at No. 2 overall and as the top guard in the entire exercise. Smith even garnered multiple first-place votes, along with a ton of high praise. Highest ranking: 1 | Lowest ranking: UnrankedAge: 24 | Last year's ranking: Honorable mention Replacing Martin in Dallas is a tough task, but Smith has the ability to do just that. The buzz surrounding Smith popped in the voting. He wasn't on every top 10 ballot, but most of the votes he did get were for first or second place. "Most physically gifted guard in the league who could legitimately be a top starter at LT if they wanted to play him there," an NFL general manager said. "Strong, athletic, nasty, and cut his holding penalties in half last year." Smith edged out Indianapolis Colts veteran Quenton Nelson for the honor of best guard, and finished one spot below Kansas City Chiefs center Creed Humphrey. "Best guard in football," an NFL defensive line coach said. "Perennial Pro Bowl guy. Quick explosive, violent, strong hands, above-average pass pro, can reach second level." Smith is scheduled to play for $2.5 million in 2025, with a cap hit of $4.2 million. The team invoked his fifth-year option, so he's also under their control for 2026 for $21.2 million, but with the way he's regarded around the league, Dallas is going to need to pony up for a big, long-term contract in the near future.
