Dinner by Heston Blumenthal
(Credit: Dinner by Heston Blumenthal)
One of the most famous chefs in the world, Heston Blumenthal, opened a restaurant in the eye-popping Atlantis The Royal in 2023.
And two years later, it still hits all the high notes. A stunning experience from start to finish, the service is impeccable, grape list wide ranging and dishes creative and expertly prepared. You'll have seen the Insta posts of the famed 'meat fruit' and if you're a carnivore it's well worth trying.
As is everything else on the British menu, especially the steak and a dessert from circa 1810. Quirky, fun and elegant at the same time, this is one for a special occasion that will be truly memorable.

Highly Commended:
Bull & Bear

This formerly North American restaurant (New York-inspired to be exact) has completely shifted its focus to a European offering led by British chef Marc Hardiman. The lovely grown-up vibes and slick service, however, have stayed the same.
It's a truly refined dining experience with a short and sweet menu that features just 19 thoughtfully crafted dishes, which highlight local ingredients and sustainability. Some unmissable dishes include a purple potato wrapped in seaweed and caviar, a sustainable crab sandwich and a satsuma wagyu steak with duck fat fries.
To really get a deeper experience, make sure you go for one of the three tasting menus on offer starting from Dhs295 per person.

Lana Lusa

We've long been fans of Lana Lusa's traditional Portuguese cuisine (that's why you'll find it in Time Out Market Dubai), but in its new home at the Four Seasons Private Residences, both the food and the dining experience have levelled up.
It's a gorgeous space for a start, with a dreamy terrace overlooking Dubai Canal, and while there's still that home-cooked vibe, with recipes from the founder's grandmother, the menu also includes more diverse Mediterranean dishes.
It's licensed as well, with Portuguese grape and mixed drinks to pair with your meal.

carine
A cute Mediterranean restaurant from famed chef Izu Ani, carine is a charming space for a catch-up with friends or a romantic date night.
With chic interiors full of neutral tones and delightful accents such as bowls of lemons and bottles of olive oil, there's a low-key, friendly vibe, while the large outdoor terrace overlooks the rolling greens of the golf course.
Coming from chef Izu, the food is particularly impressive with standouts including watermelon salad, tuna tartare, onion tart, lobster linguine and perfectly grilled lamb chops. Save room for dessert – the tarte tatin is a buttery, sweet plate of joy.

City Social Dubai
(Credit: City Social Dubai)
Coming from renowned British chef Jason Atherton, this is a sister to his popular City Social in London. Set on the 43rd floor of Grosvenor House Dubai, City Social Dubai is one of the best European restaurants in Dubai and affords stellar views across the Marina to Bluewaters and the Palm.
The vibe is elegant and the menu is modern European, with a hint of Asia thanks to ingredients such as Hokkaido scallops, which are served with charred corn and red pepper confit for a delicious combination.
Other hits include stuffed tomato, shellfish raviolo, while the grills shouldn't be missed either – especially the tender steaks. While at City Social, be sure to stop into Atherton's cool speakeasy bar 7 Tales for a drink, too.

Jara by Martín Berasategui
(Credit: Jara by Martín Berasategui)
In the hands of Spanish masterchef Martín Berasategui, whose restaurants have earned 11 Michelin stars to date, the rustic cuisine of the Basque Country gets a serious glow-up at The Lana.
Serving up some of the finest European food in the city, Jara's menu is centred around charcoal-grilled meats and seafood, from dry-aged Spanish ribeye to Cantabrian carabineros.
The anchovy duo starter and smoked brioche caviar demand your attention, as do Berasategui's signature croquettes. That's if you can take your eyes off the spectacular views.

Maison Revka
(Credit: Maison Revka)
Arriving in Dubai via Paris and St. Tropez, this French import is actually a celebration of food from central Europe, from Poland and Slovakia to Bulgaria and the Ukraine.
Inspired by Slavic culture and cuisine, the menu puts caviar, smoked salmon and raw dishes centre-stage and recommends ordering plates to share. Desserts are another highlight here, with four different types of pavlova begging to be tried.
More than just a restaurant, you can spend the day at Maison Revka with a plush lounger by the pool and even stock up on gourmet treats and posh tableware at the boutique.

StreetXO
With StreetXO, acclaimed avant-garde chef Dabiz Muñoz has created something that shouldn't work, but that absolutely does.
A riotous mish-mash of Asian and Spanish cuisine, perhaps most easily summed up by the kimchi croquette with tuna sashimi or the crazy paella with shrimp and king crab cooked in a tom yum broth, this is food that is genuinely exciting.
Challenge your perceptions with street food amped up to the max in an uber-luxurious setting – and a surprisingly refreshing price tag. It's unlike any European restaurant you'll have visited before, and that's what makes it one of the best.

Studio Frantzén
(Credit: Studio Frantzén)
Hands down one of the best European restaurants in Dubai, Studio Frantzén from Swedish chef Björn Frantzén is just a really cool place to go for dinner.
The dining room is buzzing, but if you can take a seat at the kitchen counter for a more intimate experience, do it. Watch classic Nordic cuisine come to life with a dash of Asian umami, discover Scandinavian sushi (it's a thing), and pile up your plates with some of the most brilliant sides we've ever tried.
Oh, and prepare to get totally giddy in the Candy Room, where dessert is an experience all of its own.

Twiggy
Credit: Twiggy by La Cantine
Perched above Twiggy Lagoon at the chic Park Hyatt Dubai is oh-so-elegant Twiggy by La Cantine. All neutral tones, rattan furnishings and gorgeous boho-chic décor, this spot is perfect for a lazy lunch or romantic dinner.
As well as views over the lagoon pool, you'll be treated to a view of Dubai Creek and the Downtown skyline, with the twinkling Burj Khalifa front and centre. From sushi to salads, a brilliant burrata, superb lobster ravioli and a range of expertly grilled meat and seafood, everything is fresh, fragrant and adds to the holiday feels. One of the best European restaurants in Dubai, with one of the best settings, too.

Delta Airlines passengers injured after Amsterdam flight extreme turbulence
Delta Airlines flight DL56 for Amsterdam was forced to make a diversion following extreme turbulence. Dozens of passengers have been rushed to hospital with injuries suffered when their flight experienced severe turbulence. At around 4am this morning (UK time), Delta Airlines flight DL56 had to divert to Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport in Minnesota following the significant turbulence after leaving Salt Lake City, Utah, reports the Mirror. However, 25 of the 275 passengers needed care in hospitals following the difficulties the flight had encountered in the air. They were taken to local hospitals, the airline confirmed. A spokesperson said: "Delta flight DL56 - flying from Salt Lake City to Amsterdam - diverted to Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport Wednesday after the flight encountered significant turbulence while enroute. "The aircraft, an Airbus A330-900, landed safely at MSP, and medical personnel met the flight upon arrival to evaluate customers and crew. Twenty-five of those on board were transported to local hospitals for evaluation and care. "We are grateful for the support of all emergency responders involved. Safety is our No. 1 value at Delta, and our Delta Care Team is working directly with customers to support their immediate needs." Firefighters and paramedics were waiting for the plane before it landed. The nature and extent of the injuries are unclear at this stage. The passengers will head for Amsterdam at the next safest opportunity, it is understood. Research conducted this year by Turbli, a turbulence forecast site, found the world's most turbulent route is between Mendoza in Argentina and Santiago in Chile, which achieved a 24.684 eddy dissipation rate (edr). Turbulence levels are split into categories, with light measuring between zero and 20 edr, moderate measuring between 20 and 40 edr, severe measuring between 60 and 80 and extreme measuring between 80 and 100 edr. The second most turbulent route was found to be Cordoba in Spain to Santiago, which measured 20.214 edr. For the airports with the most turbulence, Santiago in Chile took the number one spot, followed by Mendoza in Argentina and Salta, in Argentina. Turbulence is irregular and often unpredictable movements of the aircraft caused by disturbances in the air. It can range from mild to severe and is typically associated with changes in air pressure, atmospheric conditions, and wind patterns. In May 2024, Singapore Airlines Flight 321 experienced severe turbulence which caused unrestrained passengers and flight crew onboard to be thrown about the cabin. A 73-year-old British male passenger suffered a suspected heart attack during the incident and was pronounced dead upon arrival in Bangkok. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! 'TikTok's perfect face trend is a fast track to making people feel like they're not good enough'
Editing celebrities' faces to fit a 'perfect' mould has become a popular trend online, regularly gaining millions of viewers. But a beauty expert warns it could be damaging people's self esteem We're taught that beauty is subjective – but is it? As part of a popular online trend, creators are editing celebrity faces to fit a 'perfect face' template. But how does it affect the audience watching it? If you type 'perfect face' into the TikTok search bar, you'll be instantly met with hundreds of videos from a multitude of creators. They all follow a similar format: they take a front-facing photo of a popular celebrity and then place a 'perfect face' template over it, before using editing software to warp their features to fit. They then reveal a 'before' and 'after', which in many cases shows the celebrity contrasted with a face almost unrecognisable to their own. One of the most popular of these accounts is @artgasmm, a digital artist with over 34K followers and whose videos regularly rack up millions of views. Some of the most recent subjects include Lola Tung and Christopher Briney, stars of The Summer I Turned Pretty, and Jojo Siwa. While, together, these videos drew almost 10 million viewers, many of the commenters have expressed their upset and discomfort with the warped features. Under Jojo's video, one wrote: 'She's a beautiful girl, don't think she needs you describing what her perfect face would be." Another said: 'Hey so let's not normalise this perfect face s**t…can you not see the damage a filter like this could do to young people???' Viewers were also upset under the comment section of Lola Tung's video. Commenters pointed out that the actress, who is biracial, appeared more European after having the filter applied. 'Good to know having a perfect face means erasing any feature that isn't white,' one user wrote. But where does it come from? The perfect face template is based on the 'Golden Ratio', which dates back to Ancient Greece and which is supposedly a mathematically accurate formula for beauty. It's basically an attempt to measure attractiveness through facial symmetry. However, this Euro-centric beauty ideal often doesn't fit many different faces and (quite literally) doesn't make room for unique features. This can be incredibly problematic, especially if it's part of media women are regularly consuming. For more stories like this subscribe to our weekly newsletter, The Weekly Gulp, for a curated roundup of trending stories, poignant interviews, and viral lifestyle picks from The Mirror's Audience U35 team delivered straight to your inbox. Saffron Hughes, a make-up artist at believes these videos can have a detrimental impact on women's self esteem. She says: 'These 'perfect face' edits might look slick on TikTok, but they're a fast track to making people feel like they're not good enough. As a makeup artist, I work with women every day who already feel under pressure to look a certain way, and this just adds fuel to the fire.' She adds: 'You're taking real faces and editing them to fit a mould that doesn't actually exist in real life. Even the celebrities being edited wouldn't recognise themselves. It pushes this idea that beauty has to mean flawless skin, high cheekbones, big eyes, a tiny nose, and anything outside of that doesn't measure up.'

Jess Glynne slams Trump officials for using song in deportation video
"This post honestly makes me sick. My music is about love, unity, and spreading positivity - never about division or hate," the Grammy-winning artist wrote in a July 30 Instagram story. The message was written next to a screenshot of the White House's post, whose caption read "When ICE books you a one-way Jet2 holiday to deportation. ?? Nothing beats it!" In the Trump administration's video, people are escorted out of a van and marched onto a plane while their hands and ankles are handcuffed. Though federal agents' faces are blurred, the detainees' faces are not. USA TODAY has reached out to Jet2 for comment. The 2024 Jet2 TV commercial, which has blown up on TikTok with nearly 2 million videos using the audio, features British actress Zoe Lister heartily declaring, "Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday. And right now, you can save ?50 per person! That's ?200 off for a family of four." Know your meme: The Jet2 holiday audio, explained In an interview with NBC News, Lister called the trend "really funny and joyful." Many users feature the upbeat sound in their videos juxtaposing it with a horrifying vacation incident or a funny, candid moment. One post depicts a traveler standing in a construction zone after allegedly being stranded in Croatia because their hotel "hasn't actually been built yet." Another shows a person spraying a fire extinguisher around an airport terminal after attempting to sneak on an airplane. President Donald Trump has vowed to carry out mass deportations of unauthorized immigrants, citing threats to public safety. However, there are reports of people, including schoolchildren, farm workers, and those who are married to U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents without criminal records also being targeted by the Department of Homeland Security.
