Royal tour reflects concern of the royal institution for the people
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said this was conveyed by Sultan Ibrahim in his Royal Address at an investiture ceremony in conjunction with His Majesty's official birthday celebration at Istana Negara yesterday.
He expressed his gratitude for the message and pledged his full commitment to supporting and realising His Majesty's noble wishes.
'The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) will work closely with the Prime Minister's Department and relevant agencies, including local authorities, to implement this special programme in phases,' Mohd Na'im said in a post on his official Facebook page today.
He said the main objective of the Royal Tour initiative is to personally deliver zakat to the poor and needy, assess the actual needs of the people through a grassroots and people-friendly approach, enhance the effectiveness of the zakat distribution system, and strengthen the bond between the Royal Institution and the rakyat.
'Indeed, the concern and compassion shown by His Majesty serve as a meaningful source of inspiration to all leaders and agencies, for them to uphold the values of compassion, social justice and the culture of giving in our society.
'Daulat Tuanku, May Allah SWT bless His Majesty's reign, grant strength and wisdom for His Majesty to lead the nation and its people,' he said.

IPOH: Efforts are being taken to ensure the 42 Malaysian umrah pilgrims who were reportedly stranded in Jeddah since last week return to the country safely, says Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar. The Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) said the government, through the Malaysian Embassy in Saudi Arabia, are making arrangements for the pilgrims. "I am deeply concerned and sympathise with the plight of 42 Malaysian umrah pilgrims who were reportedly stranded in Jeddah since July 25 due to the issue of unavailability of return flight tickets. "The embassy is paying full attention and arranging immediate measures to ensure the welfare and safety of all pilgrims, including efforts to bring them back home safely," he said in a statement on Monday (July 28). Dr Mohd Na'im said the government views such cases seriously and would not compromise on any party that tries to deceive or defraud umrah pilgrims, especially those involving senior citizens and civil servants. "Strict action, including through legal channels, will be taken against those who are complicit or guilty. "Since the beginning of this year, I have repeatedly reminded the public to check the status of companies and Umrah packages offered through official Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry channels, including a special portal and application for checking licensed travel agents," he said. "I call on Muslims in this country to always be vigilant and only choose legitimate, licensed, and registered Umrah operators with the authorities. I hope that such incidents will not occur again in the future," he added.

King appoints new Chief Justice, judges at Istana Negara
KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, today presented the instrument of appointment to the new Chief Justice, President of the Court of Appeal, Court of Appeal Judges, and High Court Judges at Istana Negara. The ceremony, held at the Singgahsana Kecil (Minor Throne Room), was also attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar. According to a Facebook post, during the ceremony, Sultan Ibrahim presented the instrument of appointment for the position of Chief Justice to Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh, who then took his oath of office and loyalty before the King. His Majesty also presented the instruments of appointment for the President of the Court of Appeal to Datuk Abu Bakar Jais, followed by the appointment of Datuk Azizah Nawawi as Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak.
