It ends with Elphaba saying 'I'm off to see the Wizard' before flying on a broom into the distance with her winged monkeys.
The film, directed by Jon M Chu, shows Elphaba continuing her fight for the freedom of Oz's silenced animals while Glinda lives at the palace in Emerald City.
Wicked also stars English actor Jonathan Bailey as roguish and carefree prince Fiyero, American actor and singer Ethan Slater as altruistic munchkin student Boq, and Jurassic Park's Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard.
The films have been adapted from the musical, which was based on Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel of the same name – which was in turn based on the story first told in Baum's 1900 children's novel, adapted into the 1939 film starring Judy Garland as Dorothy Gale.
Wicked: For Good will show in cinemas in the UK and Ireland from November 21.

New Wicked: For Good trailers teases final showdown

The first full trailer for W icked: For Good has been released, offering fans a glimpse into how the Wizard of Oz-inspired story will conclude. Cynthia Erivo returns as Elphaba, with Ariana Grande once again playing Glinda. The trailer shows Glinda watching an angry mob armed with torches as they search for Elphaba. The trailer ends with Elphaba declaring she's "off to see the Wizard" before soaring away on her broomstick. The sequel picks up where the first film ended, following the fallout from Elphaba and Glinda's parting. Elphaba is now an outlaw in Oz, while Glinda has become a carefully managed public figure under the Wizard's control. Director Jon M. Chu said: "Our heart was broken when Glinda couldn't make the choice we wanted her to at the end of movie one. But it felt empowering for Elphaba to leave society behind. In movie two, we see the consequences. The temperature is up." The two-part adaptation is based on the hit musical, itself inspired by Gregory Maguire's 2005 novel. Wicked: For Good is due in Irish cinemas on 21 November. Both films were shot at Elstree Studios in the UK between December 2022 and January 2024, with production halted midway due to the Hollywood actors' strike. Wicked was one of the highest-grossing films at the Irish box office in 2024 and earned 10 Oscar nominations, winning two - for costume and production design. The first film ran for 2 hours and 40 minutes, nearly matching the stage show's entire runtime. Erivo and Grande's chemistry made headlines, and the pair opened the 2025 Oscars with a Wicked medley. The sequel features two brand new songs, which Chu says were "necessary to help tell the story." Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey and Jeff Goldblum also return, with Goldblum reprising his role as the Wizard.
