Farmer 'raped wife, underage daughter and a cow... and made his partner watch other acts of bestiality with calves'
The dairy farmer allegedly told his wife about having sex with his cows and made her watch as he made the calves perform sexual acts on him.
The man, whose name cannot be reported to protect the identity of his accusers, is on trial in New Zealand where he faces 38 charges of sexual assault, including 15 of rape, one of bestiality involving cows and one of performing indecent acts on calves.
His stepdaughter said the offending began when she was under 10 years old and escalated to near-nightly rapes for the next decade, Whangārei District Court heard.
She claims she was raped nearly 300 times, Crown Prosecutor Geraldine Kelly told the jury.
The victim said she felt relief when her stepfather got a vasectomy, The New Zealand Herald reported.
Kelly said: 'Getting pregnant had been a concern for her before she was 12.'
The girl did not speak about the offending out of love for her stepfather as well as 'confusion' over her body's response to the abuse, Kelly said.
The court heard the man had a 'daily requirement' for sex which also led to his alleged sexual offending against his wife.
He allegedly believed rape did not exist, saying that all women give in eventually and enjoy sex.
He also told his wide that 'no means yes', Kelly told jurors.
The man allegedly admitted to his wife that he had been having sex with some of the cows and showed her how he did it.
During calving season, the man allegedly made the calves perform oral sex on him, which his wife also saw.
Kelly said that on at least 20 occasions he would make his wife have sex with him after the act with the calves.
Kelly added: 'She told him she found it repulsive but he would just do it'.
The farmer's lawyer Matthew Ridgley said the alleged bestiality with the cows was nonsense.
He told the jury it was for them to decide whether what happened was indecent.
He said the farmer acknowledged he had sex with his stepdaughter but argued it was consensual and when she was over the age of 16.
Ridgeley said that any sex with the man and his wife was also consensual
The trial is expected to last three weeks.

Trans Met Police volunteer, 27, told 12-year-old that he loved her before sexually assaulting her, court hears
A transgender Met Police volunteer had daily video chats with their alleged rape victim before sexually assaulting her at the age of 12, a court has heard. James Bubb, who now identifies as a woman named Gwyn Samuels, regularly spoke to the girl over text and video call before the alleged attack, Amersham Law Courts was told. The court heard the pair met on video chat site Omegle in 2018, when the complainant was 12 years old and the defendant was around 21. They then met in person for the first time at a Christian festival a few months later, jurors were told. Of their first encounter in person, Adrian Amer, defending, asked: 'At the time of meeting, did you believe you were in a relationship?' Giving evidence, the witness, who cannot be named for legal reasons, replied: 'Yes I did, yes.' Mr Amer asked: 'What sort of relationship?' 'An emotional, romantic relationship,' the witness said, adding that she believed the defendant was her 'boyfriend'. The alleged victim said that at the time, the pair would speak every day, including on video call. 'He'd tell me that he loved me, "good night", every day,' she added. Of this first meeting, the witness said that although they did not tell the defendant their age, it would have been 'evident'. She said: 'I didn't sound or look like a 17-year-old, I looked probably younger than I was.' 'I was dressing as a child,' she continued, and added that she had sent the defendant a photo of herself wearing a My Little Pony t-shirt. 'I was acting like a child, I was a child,' she said. The witness said Bubb assaulted her on Shepherd's Bush Green while she was visiting London with her parents to celebrate her 13th birthday. Of this alleged incident in 2019, Mr Amer asked the witness why she did not leave if she was uncomfortable. 'He was my boyfriend,' she replied. 'But he wasn't your boyfriend, was he?' Mr Amer said. 'No, now I recognise him to be my abuser,' the witness said. 'I didn't feel that I had any autonomy,' she added. 'I didn't have an understanding of consent.' She continued: 'I firmly believed that James and I were in a mutual loving relationship and that's what girlfriends and boyfriends do. 'I was scared to speak out, I didn't realise I could,' she added. On another occasion at Shepherd's Bush, the witness said Bubb had 'scoped out the area' and told her there was 'no CCTV', before asking her to remove her tights and sexually assaulting her. The alleged victim said she was later raped by the defendant at Bubb's home in Harrow, London, when she was 13 years old. She told the jury the volunteer officer was 'choking' and 'restraining' her during the attack and that she had asked them to stop. 'It's safe to say I was scared,' she added. The defendant dabbed their eyes and shook their head at points while the witness was giving evidence. The 27-year-old has denied one count of rape in relation to one complainant, and two counts of rape, two counts of sexual activity with a child, one count of assault of a child under 13 by penetration, one count of rape of a child under 13 and one count of assault by penetration in relation to the other complainant. A not guilty verdict on one of the rape charges in relation to the second complainant was returned on Wednesday after the prosecution offered no evidence. All accusations are alleged to have taken place between January 1, 2018 to April 2, 2024. The defendant, from Chesham, Buckinghamshire, denies all charges and the trial continues.

Harvey Weinstein to be tried a third time for rape charge
Harvey Weinstein will face a New York jury for a third time after his rape conviction was overturned and jurors failed to reach a verdict at his second trial. Last month, the film mogul was found guilty of sexually assaulting former Project Runway production assistant Miriam Haley, and not guilty of sexually assaulting Polish model Kaja Sokola. The jury was unable to reach a verdict on his charge of rape against the aspiring actress Jessica Mann. Weinstein denies the rape charge. Ms Mann previously said she would repeatedly testify until 'justice' was served. 'I have told the district attorney I am ready, willing and able to endure this as many times as it takes for justice and accountability to be served,' she said, after a mistrial in her case was declared. 'Today is not the end of my fight.' Weinstein was serving a 23-year Sentence in a prison in up-state Rome, New York, when the 2020 conviction for rape and a criminal sexual act was overturned. Weinstein was found guilty of several counts of sexual assault, including rape, in a Los Angeles trial in 2022. The California conviction and 16-year prison sentence still stands. After the rape conviction was thrown out in April 2024, Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan district attorney, opted to charge Weinstein again almost immediately. During the trial, prosecutors sought to show Weinstein used his power in Hollywood to sexually assault and 'exert enormous control' over the three women, all of whom were seeking work in the film and television industry. He was accused of abusing them in hotel rooms between 2006 and 2013, using his power and influence to manipulate his victims into keeping quiet. Justice Curtis Farber had initially said that the jury would continue its deliberations over the rape charge after failing to reach a verdict. Trial beset with jury issues The six-week trial, which Weinstein, suffering a litany of health issues, sat through in a wheelchair was beset with jury issues. Earlier on in the trial, the foreman had shared with the judge that he was concerned about 'something going on in the jury room' and one person was being treated unfairly by the group of five women and seven men. The judge subsequently met privately with one person on the 12-member jury referred to as Juror One. The judge then stated in open court that there had been 'fighting' in the jury room. 'Juror One has made it very clear that he is not going to change his position,' Mr Farber said, adding that Juror One did not tell him what his position was. 'He indicated that at least one other juror made comments to the juror that, 'I'll meet you outside one day', and there's yelling and screaming.' Weinstein will be sentenced over his conviction relating to Ms Haley on Sept 30.
