Bongo's Bingo to return to Dubai in August: Tickets, venue and more

The world's wildest bingo night is coming back to Dubai later this year. Bongo's Bingo will return on Friday August 29, at Bla Bla Dubai with tickets still available, from Dhs150. If your first thought of a bingo night is your gran and her pals straining to hear what numbers have been called, then you'll be in for a huge shock if you head to this session. The chaotic event is returning with a 90s special, promising a nostalgia-filled evening with an old-school rave, crowd karaoke and dance-offs. Think Spice Girls meets glow sticks. It takes regular bingo and makes it even better with music and dance moves to go with basically every number. If you're heading along, then you're fully encouraged to dig through your wardrobe for nineties-inspired fancy dress to really take part in the silliness. Special prizes will also be on offer throughout the event, which will be held at The Tent at Bla Bla. It's a night full of colour, and bad singing as well as a spot of bingo and is one of the best nights out you can have in Dubai. Bongo's Bingo has come to Dubai multiple times including a Halloween special and an ABBA singalong in recent years. The first Bongo's Bingo event started in Liverpool back in 2015 with a playlist on a laptop and an empty warehouse and has been a smash hit all over the UK. Events have been held in locations all across the world since the bright idea started. Dhs150. Fri Aug 29. Bla Bla Dubai, JBR. Looking for more great things to do? Why Prophet Muhammad's Birthday (PBUH) could mean a long weekend in Dubai

There's another UAE public holiday coming up next month, and it looks like it's going to be a big one. Prophet Muhammad's Birthday (PBUH) is set to arrive in the first week of September and give us not only a day off work but a long weekend too. It is one of several UAE public holidays that rely on the Islamic Hijri calendar to be determined, with Prophet Muhammad's Birthday (PBUH) falling on the 12th day of the month of Rabi Al Awwal every year. Islamic months are based on cycles of the moon and are not confirmed until closer to the date, but can be predicted in advance. Dates will shift around the calendar by between 10 and 12 days every year. Rabi Al Awwal is the third month in the Hijri calendar, and we will only know which date Prophet Muhammad's Birthday (PBUH) will fall on once we know when the month of Safar has ended. (Credit: Canva) Current astronomical predictions indicate that the holiday should fall on Friday September 5, and, when combined with Saturday and Sunday, will mean a three-day long weekend for most UAE residents. And if Prophet Muhammad's Birthday (PBUH) happens to fall a day early, then it's likely that Dubai residents will still enjoy a long weekend due to the UAE public holiday law. The law states that official public holidays, such as Islamic New Year, Prophet Muhammad's Birthday (PBUH) and UAE National Day, can be moved to the beginning or the end of the week. Which means that if Prophet Muhammad's Birthday (PBUH) officially falls on Thursday September 4, then the public holiday will likely be moved to Friday September 5.
