Chief Minister to inaugurate Kusum-C project on June 11
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyaan (PM KUSUM)–C project, which will provide farmers with reliable daytime electricity by installing solar units near agricultural electricity feeders will be officially launched by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on June 11 at Gauribidanur of Chikkaballapura district, said Energy Minister K.J. George.
Speaking at a curtain raiser press conference on Monday, he said, 'Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy and Consumer Affairs, Food and Ration Distribution Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Nayak, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Ministers Krishna Byre Gowda, M.C. Sudhakar, and others will be participated.'
The KUSUM–C scheme aims to provide farmers with reliable daytime electricity by installing solar units near agricultural electricity feeders. These units will generate power locally, which will then be supplied to agricultural pump sets through the feeders. This localized generation ensures the delivery of high-quality power, the Minister noted.
In Gauribidanur taluk's Thondebhavi Hobli, a 20 MW solar unit has been established across approximately 60 acres in the villages of Hanumenahalli and Charakamattenahalli. This is the largest solar installation under the KUSUM–C scheme in Karnataka to date, which is why Gauribidanur was chosen for the scheme's official launch. The land for the project has been leased from private owners for a period of 25 years, he added.
Further the Minister stated that, the KUSUM–C scheme, introduced four to five years ago, was initially put on hold in the State. However, after our government came to power, we decided to implement the scheme and invited tenders.
The central government provides a subsidy of ₹1.05 crore for generating 1 mw of solar power, which significantly reduces the cost of establishment of the Solar Power System for the RESCO developers. 'The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission has fixed a maximum rate of ₹3.17 per unit of electricity, ensuring affordable and reliable power supply for farmers. In the first phase of the scheme, we aim to generate 2,400 megawatts of solar electricity through the solarisation of agricultural feeders. This will provide quality daytime electricity to around 6,19,000 (6 lakh 19 thousand) agrarian pump sets, significantly reducing their energy costs and ensuring a reliable power supply,' he explained.

Union minister blames Kerala govt for teen's electrocution death in live wire wild boar trap, cites ‘deliberate negligence'
Kozhikode: Union environment minister Bhupendra Yadav faulted state govt for the electrocution death of 15-year-old Anandu near Kalikavu in Nilambur from a live wire trap set up to capture wild boars on Saturday night. Speaking to the media in New Delhi on Monday, Yadav said that the electrocution was due to state govt's deliberate negligence. "Anandu, who was killed in electrocution from wild boar trap, is the latest in the series of deaths by electric fences in the last few years. In 2025 alone, three persons were killed in the district (Malappuram). The electrocution was the result of deliberate negligence by state govt of Kerala and the local authority claiming several innocent lives," Yadav said. To address the wild boar issue, Centre has issued guidelines to the state to implement a few measures, including giving powers to panchayats to kill the animals if they posed a threat to human life and crops, he said. On state govt's demand for amendment in Wildlife Act to enable killing of wildlife which posed threat to life and property, Yadav said Centre had already given state govt the power to kill wild boars and it is being carried out. Centre had in 2021 rejected Kerala govt's request to declare wild boar as vermin and Union minister's remarks pointed to no change in Centre's stand. Yadav said there were a total of 344 deaths in state during the last five years, of which 180 (around 60%) were due to snake bites outside forest limits. Besides that, 103 deaths were due to elephants, 35 by wildlife, nine by gaur, four by tiger and 13 by other animals, he added. Anandu had died after coming into contact with a live wire trap set for hunting wild boars at Vellakatta near Vazhikadavu in Nilambur. Police have arrested Nambyadan Vineesh, 36, of Puthiripadam, who had allegedly laid the live wire trap near a stream along the forest fringes for poaching of wild boars. He was booked under section 105 of BNS (culpable homicide not amounting to murder). The investigation into the case has been handed over to district crime branch.

Himachal Deputy CM urges Nitin Gadkari to increase validity of All India taxi permit to 15 years
New Delhi [India], June 9 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri met Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari at his residence in New Delhi on Monday and thanked him for extending a generous hand towards the state. He informed the Union Minister that the state government has requested the Union Ministry of Road Transport & Highways to increase the validity of all India taxi permits from the existing 12 years to 15 years, keeping in view the operators' demand. The all India taxi permit should also be granted for 15 years, keeping in view the vehicle scrapping policy period of 15 years. Gadkari assured that he would look into the matter sympathetically and also directed the authorities concerned to process the case accordingly, a Himachal Pradesh government release said. He stated that in view of its diverse topographical conditions, the development of hilly states like Himachal Pradesh solely depends upon expanding the road and bridge also urged the Union Minister to release the remaining funds to the tune of Rs.7.63 crores under the scheme for special assistance to the State for capital investment (incentives for scrapping of old vehicles). He also demanded that the Nangal to Jaijon road be declared a national highway, as it would also cater to the proposed bulk drug park. Agnihotri stated that a DPR to the tune of Rs . 429 crores has already been prepared and it would be submitted to the Government of India under the Gati Shakti scheme. He also urged that the proposed four-laning of NH 503 A from Amritsar to Hoshiarpur may be extended from Bankhandi (HP boundary) to Jhaleda. This is a stretch of approximately 15 kms and would connect Shree Anandpur Sahib and Mata Chintpurni, which would also benefit the pilgrims visiting these two shrines. Agnihotri also raised the issue of connectivity between Chandigarh and the Baddi industrial area. Gadkri stated that the Centre is actively considering this issue. The Deputy Chief Minister also raised the issue for approval for up-gradation of link road Jaijon Modh to Tahliwal Chowk via Bhai-Ka-Modh and three bridges for which Rs. 48.69 crore will be provided under CR|IF. The Union Minister assured that he would approve it on priority. The Union Minister directed that the DPR under the Gati Shakti scheme may be prepared and submitted to the Ministry accordingly. (ANI)

Earlier on Sunday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed the Kisan Samman Samaroh in Auraiya, highlighting the government's efforts to support farmers. He emphasised that farmers have become a crucial part of the government's political agenda since 2014 thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiatives. Adityanath did an aerial survey of the maize crop on his way from Lucknow to Auraiya. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while addressing the Kisan Samman Samaroh, said, 'You must have seen for the first time in 2014 that the farmer who provides food can also become a part of the political agenda of a government, when PM Modi started the Soil Health Card Scheme.' He highlighted various initiatives of the central government to secure farmers' future - Soil Health Card Scheme; Prime Minister's Agricultural Irrigation Scheme; Prime Minister's Agricultural Insurance Scheme against crop failures and Prime Minister's Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme, 12 crore farmers nationwide benefit from this scheme, receiving financial support. 'After the Soil Health Card, the Prime Minister's Agricultural Irrigation Scheme and then the Prime Minister's Agricultural Insurance Scheme were implemented and the Prime Minister's Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme was implemented,' said the UP CM. The government's efforts have shown positive results, with PM Kisan Samman Nidhi emerging as the world's largest direct benefit transfer scheme. Over Rs 3.25 lakh crore have been transferred into farmers' bank accounts, benefiting crores of farmers. '12 crore farmers in the country benefit from the Prime Minister's Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme. This double-engine government is also working towards making the future of its farmers beautiful and secure in the state. When our government came in 2017, farmers were committing suicide. There were no facilities anywhere,' he added. Yogi Adityanath also said that in 2017, the government implemented a Rs 36,000 crore loan waiver program for 86 lakh farmers. 'In 2017, when we came, first of all, we took forward the loan waiver program of Rs 36000 crore for 86 lakh farmers, and after the loan waiver, we resorted to the Prime Minister's Agricultural Irrigation Scheme to develop the irrigation capacity in the state,' said the UP CM.
