Dallas Jenkins previews ‘The Chosen' Season 5: Big biblical moments and theatrical release dates

Express Tribune20-03-2025

The Chosen Season 5 is set to bring some of the most well-known biblical stories to life, according to series creator, writer, and director Dallas Jenkins.
The upcoming season will depict key events from Holy Week, including Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, the Last Supper, the cleansing of the temple, and Judas' betrayal.
Jenkins stated that the season will showcase big, epic moments while also focusing on the intimacy, authenticity, and relationships between Jesus and his disciples. He emphasized that Season 5 will provide a deeper, human perspective on these biblical events, portraying how Jesus' closest followers reacted in the days leading up to his crucifixion.
For new viewers, Jenkins strongly recommends starting from Season 1 to fully grasp the character development and storyline. He believes the stories will hold more meaning when viewed from the beginning.
Like previous seasons, The Chosen Season 5 will premiere in theaters before becoming available on streaming platforms. In the U.S. and Canada, Part 1 (Episodes 1-2) will release on March 28, 2025. Part 2 (Episodes 3-5) will release on April 4, 2025, and Part 3 (Episodes 6-8) on April 11, 2025.
Internationally, Part 1 will release on April 10, except in Nigeria and Ghana, where it debuts on April 4. For those who miss the initial screenings, a full theatrical release will take place on Palm Sunday, April 13, and Easter weekend, April 19-20. No official streaming release date has been announced yet.

Andor season 2 finale connects directly to Rogue One with major Star Wars references and character reveals

The final episodes of Andor season 2 have brought the series full circle, linking directly to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and including more than three dozen Easter eggs and references to the broader Star Wars universe, as detailed by ScreenRant. Set in 1 BBY—the year of the Battle of Scarif—the final episodes strengthen the narrative bridge between the series and Rogue One. Key moments include intelligence gathered about Scarif and Galen Erso, Saw Gerrera's operations on Jedha, and the closing visual of Director Krennic overseeing the Death Star, mirroring his appearance in the 2016 film. The finale also explores character arcs and visual callbacks: Cassian appears in his Rogue One outfit, while K-2SO stages a hallway battle that echoes Darth Vader's iconic finale. Luthen Rael's shadowy legacy is further unpacked, showing him as a divisive figure within the Rebellion, comparable to Saw Gerrera. Fans are treated to appearances by Mon Mothma, Bail Organa, Admiral Raddus, and General Merrick. Flashbacks reveal Luthen's past in the Imperial Infantry, while Nemik's manifesto, now circulating galaxy-wide, is even heard by ISB officials like Partagaz. The finale includes deep-cut references, from Twi'lek kalikoris to a possible Gungan skull displayed in Luthen's gallery. Altogether, Andor season 2 solidifies itself as a compelling prelude to Rogue One. All episodes of Andor season 2 are now streaming on Disney+.

Shannon Sharpe may already be banned from ESPN, as per insider

Shannon Sharpe may never return to ESPN following a string of misconduct allegations and legal battles, according to an insider who claims the former NFL star is 'possibly already banned' from the network. Shannon Sharpe's future in sports broadcasting is under serious threat as multiple allegations of sexual misconduct and a $50 million lawsuit bring his career into question. Sharpe, 56, is reportedly no longer welcome at ESPN, according to unnamed network sources, and may already be banned following a lawsuit filed in Clark County, Nevada, on Easter Sunday. The former NFL tight end has already denied all allegations, calling the lawsuit a "shakedown." The lawsuit centres on a woman identified as 'Jane Doe,' who claims she and Sharpe had a consensual relationship that later became abusive. She alleges that Sharpe assaulted her twice, the second time in 2025 during a visit to deliver Christmas and birthday gifts. Further damaging to Sharpe's public image are leaked chat messages and a phone call recording—allegedly involving Sharpe—where threats were reportedly made against the accuser. The lawsuit also references an Instagram livestream incident involving Sharpe and another woman, which the plaintiff says caused her additional emotional distress. The accuser was later identified as an OnlyFans model named Gabriella Zuniga. The lawsuit is being handled by attorney Tony Buzbee, known for previously representing clients against high-profile figures, including rapper Jay-Z. Sharpe's past also includes a 2010 domestic violence allegation which led to a temporary restraining order, though no criminal charges were filed. The fallout from the latest claims has significantly damaged Sharpe's standing in the media industry, with some insiders suggesting his exit from ESPN is imminent, if not already in effect. Sharpe joined ESPN's First Take in 2023 after leaving FS1's Undisputed, where he was known for his animated debates with Skip Bayless. He also hosts the Club Shay Shay podcast, which has featured cultural figures such as Steve Harvey and Katt Williams. Though Sharpe gained popularity for his dynamic personality and candid commentary, the mounting legal troubles and backlash may force an abrupt end to his broadcasting career.

Khloe Kardashian announces 'The Kardashians' spinoff on Hulu; 'Calabasas Behind the Gates'

The Kardashians are once again expanding their empire in Calabasas. Khloé Kardashian has officially announced a brand-new reality spinoff series titled Calabasas Behind the Gates on Hulu. Speaking at Hulu's inaugural Get Real House event on Tuesday 22 April, Khloé appeared alongside Scott Disick to tease the upcoming show. 'It's very exciting, very new, very excellent,' she said. 'We're excited to continue developing.' The new series will focus not on the core Kardashian-Jenner family, but on the friends, neighbours and inner circle surrounding them. Rob Mills, executive vice president at Disney, Hulu's parent company, also offered more details, saying, 'We all want to know what's happening behind the gates of Calabasas—who are all these people in the extended lives of the Kardashians? So, we're developing a show that we're actually, at least for now, calling Calabasas Behind the Gates.' Khloé, 40, who shares daughter True, 7, and son Tatum, 2, with ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson, did not confirm whether any of her famous family members would appear on the new show. Disick, 41, who shares three children with Khloé's sister Kourtney Kardashian Barker, also stayed quiet on his potential involvement. However, Khloé did express hopes that her brother Rob Kardashian might return to screens. 'I really do,' she said. 'I always have my faith and confidence in Rob.' The 38-year-old, who has largely stayed out of the spotlight, recently made a rare appearance in Kim Kardashian's Easter family photo roundup. During the event, Khloé also shared that her family receive equal pay across their reality shows, and retain creative control over what is shown in each episode. No official release date has been set for Calabasas Behind the Gates, but excitement for the project is already building.
