Eddington Trailer Previews Ari Aster's Polarizing Western Movie With Pedro Pascal
A new trailer for has been released.
Eddington is the forthcoming A24 movie that is written and directed by Ari Aster. A contemporary Western starring Pedro Pascal and Joaquin Phoenix, the movie will be released in United States theaters next month.

The Eddington trailer previews tension between Phoenix and Pascal's characters, as both of them live in a small town in which everyone is angry at their neighbors, largely because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
'In May of 2020, a standoff between a small-town sheriff (Joaquin Phoenix) and mayor (Pedro Pascal) sparks a powder keg as neighbor is pitted against neighbor in Eddington, New Mexico,' the official synopsis reads.
The cast of the movie also includes Austin Butler, Emma Stone, Luke Grimes, Deirdre O'Connell, Michael Ward, Clifton Collins Jr., Amélie Hoeferle, and William Belleau.
Eddington had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last month. The movie received polarizing reviews from critics; some, like Indiewire's David Ehrlich, praised its satirical take on COVID and modern times, while others, such The Times' Kevin Maher, felt that Eddington feels 'unsure of what it wants to say.' The film currently has a 65 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes with 49 reviews.
Aster found himself in a similar position when Beau Is Afraid was released in 2023, as that movie also received mixed reviews. Prior to that, Aster directed Hereditary in 2018 and Midsommar in 2019.
'I felt like [Aster] wrote something that was all our worst fears as that lockdown experience was already a fracturing society,' Pascal said of the movie, via IndieWire, at Cannes. This was building toward an untethered sense of reality. There is a point of not going back. I was overwhelmed by that fear, and it's wonderful that it was confirmed by Ari.'
Eddington will be released in United States theaters on July 18, 2025, from A24.

The jury in Harvey Weinstein's New York retrial reached a partial mixed verdict on Wednesday, June 11, finding the disgraced former movie mogul guilty of one count of criminal sexual assault against former 'Project Runway' assistant Miriam Haley and not guilty of a separate count of criminal sexual assault against model Kaja Sokola, per reporting in the Associated Press. The jury has yet to reach a verdict on a third charge of third-degree rape against aspiring actress Jessica Mann, and is expected to resume deliberations on Thursday. As the jury deliberated on Monday, the foreperson approached Judge Curtis Farber to discuss a private matter, per the AP. The judge later explained that the juror did not want to return to the deliberation room. 'He said words to the effect of 'I can't go back in there with the other jurors,'' the judge said, adding that the juror was being pressured to change his position by other jurors. 'He did indicate that at least one other juror made comments to the effect of 'I'll meet you outside one day,' and there's yelling and screaming.'Weinstein's lawyers saw the situation as cause to ask for a mistrial, with defense attorney Arthur Aidala saying 'I don't think the court is protecting this juror. Pitbull, the Miami native and club-rap superstar, is embracing a viral trend where fans show up to his concerts wearing bald caps and fake beards to copy his signature look. Why it matters: It's the latest iteration of the concert uniform, as the New York Times describes it, popularized by artists like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and — historically — the late Florida singer Jimmy Buffett. Catch up quick: The social media-fueled phenomenon started after COVID-19 but has gone "to a whole other level" during Pitbull's current European tour, the rapper — real name: Armando Christian Pérez — told BBC News.
