The Miami Dolphins had a rollercoaster of a 2024 season.
After starting the year 2-6 — and dealing with a very serious Tua Tagovailoa concussion — Mike McDaniel's club rebounded to finish the year with a respectable 8-9 record.
To make sure they come out of the gates swinging this year, the team signed projected starters James Daniels, Ifeatu Melifonwu, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Ashtyn Davis and backup quarterback Zach Wilson in the event Tagovailoa gets injured again.
Then, in the draft, they selected Michigan defensive tackle Kenneth Grant with the 13th pick.
These offseason acquisitions join Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, De'Von Achane, Jalen Ramsey and Pro Bowler Jonnu Smith on this year's roster.
'Right now, I feel extremely strong about whose in the room knowing that it will grow by two to three people,' McDaniel said in a press conference at the NFL Combine.
And, now that the schedule release has come and gone, we have a better idea of what's ahead for the club.
Just a few of the most notable home games on the horizon this year include playoff teams Los Angeles Chargers (Oct. 12), Baltimore Ravens (Oct. 30), Buffalo Bills (Nov. 9) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Dec. 28).
Also, of note, the squad will also take on the Washington Commanders at Madrid's Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, Nov. 16 in the NFL's first-ever game in Spain.
If you want to be there to root on Tua, Tyreek and the team, tickets are available for all nine 2025 home games at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium on Vivid Seats.

With Dolphins tight end Smith's future in limbo, agent Drew Rosenhaus addresses the matter

Dolphins tight end Jonnu Smith wants a new contract and has been the subject of trade talks with Pittsburgh. While agent Drew Rosenhaus did not specifically address those issues in his weekly TV segment late Sunday night, he made clear that Smith wants to remain a Dolphin. 'Here's what I will say on behalf of my client: Jonnu would definitely like to stay in Miami,' Rosenhaus said on WSVN-7. 'That's his first choice. This is where he lives in the off-season. He had a record-breaking season last year. 'It was the best season ever for a Miami Dolphin tight end... He broke the team record for receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns for a tight end and was the team's single Pro Bowl player. He's an incredibly valuable part of this team... He went to college at FIU. His dream team is the Dolphins. 'Hopefully, everything works out where he can stay in Miami.' The Dolphins spoke to the Steelers after Smith conveyed that he wants a new contract, replacing the one that's due to pay him $4.8 million this season in the final year of a two-year deal. Smith, 29, caught 88 passes for 884 yards and eight touchdowns last season, his first with the Dolphins. Miami has been seeking a trade partner instead of agreeing to Smith's request for a new contract, ESPN reported. If the Dolphins trade Smith and do not get a tight end in return, their tight end room would feature only journeyman Pharoah Brown, Julian Hill, Tanner Conner and undrafted rookie Jalin Conyers. Veteran free agent tight ends still available include, among others, Jordan Akins (40 catches for 390 yards for Cleveland last season) and Hayden Hurst (8 for 73 for the Chargers). Here's a list of the limited number of free agents left at the position. The Athletic reported that the Raiders are open to trading tight end Michael Mayer, whose playing time diminished last year after Las Vegas drafted Brock Bowers, who had the best season for a rookie tight end in NFL history. 'I think Mike's been fantastic since I've been here; we didn't make any decisions on anything until you see him here, and Mike's been fantastic since day one of the offseason program,' Raiders offensive coordinator Chip Kelly said Thursday. If the Dolphins trade Smith for a future draft pick, his Dolphins 2025 cap hit would drop from $4.6 million to $550,000. While Smith ideally would like to remain in Miami, cornerback Jalen Ramsey wants out, with a trade expected in the coming weeks. If Ramsey traded for a future draft pick, his 2025 Dolphins cap hit would drop from $16.7 million to $6.7 million. A trade before June 2 would have resulted in a $25 million Dolphins cap hit for 2025. Miami would have $28 million in cap space if it trades both Ramsey and Smith for future draft picks.

Texans listed as potential trade candidate for Dolphins All-Pro WR Tyreek Hill

Texans listed as potential trade candidate for Dolphins All-Pro WR Tyreek Hill While the Houston Texans like their current status of receivers behind Pro Bowler Nico Collins, that hasn't stopped some speculation about a potential trade for one of the best wideouts in the league. Stefon Diggs' departure and Tank Dell's injury have left questions for a No. 2 target in new coordinator Nick Caley's system. One name rumored to be on the move is Miami Dolphins All-Pro Tyreek Hill. Dolphins GM Chris Grier has not ruled out a trade since it was brought up back in April. With the June 1 deadline gone, it would make it a lot easier for Miami to get it done as far as spreading out the salary cap over the next two years. 'If someone wants to come and give me two first round picks then we'd consider it,' Grier said. 'But, as of right now, it's not something we're considering.' Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio discussed some potential suitors for Hill, including the Baltimore Ravens, Chicago Bears, Los Angeles Chargers and San Francisco 49ers. Florio even mentioned the Texans as a potential suitor for Hill -- with the caveat of sending a veteran receiver back to Miami in the process. "Maybe, in the end, Hill's recent effort to fix his image isn't about persuading the Dolphins to keep him," Florio wrote. "Maybe he's hoping it will convince a better team to come get him." While the Texans should always be looking to improve the roster, Hill doesn't feel like the best fit for a Ryans-led team. Hill, 31, is coming off one of his worst statistical seasons where he failed to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards, but his persona on social media isn't an ideal fit for the team's culture. The Texans aren't in win-now mode heading into Year 3 of the Ryans' era, so what's the asking price to land Hill? Houston gave up a second-round pick last season for Stefon Diggs, who had shown signs of regression late in 2023. He was limited to eight games and suffered a season-ending torn ACL. The Texans open the season against the Los Angeles Rams.

Odell Beckham Jr laments Giants trade: 'I never, ever wanted to leave'

Odell Beckham Jr. was a sensational player for the New York Giants and was on a path to becoming an all-time great statistically before injuries hindered the journey. Beckham did create controversy when he was with the Giants. He simulated urinating in the end zone against the Philadelphia Eagles, had a meltdown with the kicking net on the sidelines of a game and got into a bitter war with then-Carolina Panthers cornerback Josh Norman. The Giants traded Beckham to the Cleveland Browns before the 2019 season. He later won a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams and spent time with the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins. He appeared on CBS Sports' coverage of the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday and made clear he didn't want to leave the Giants. "I never, ever wanted to leave the New York Giants," he said. "The reason you heard me talking about what was going on was because I was p----- because, where I come from in college, if we lost one game, our season was over. "This was the organization I got drafted to. They believed in me. So if the Giants went and won a Super Bowl, I would be happy. But deep down inside, I wanted to be the one. No question. So it's definitely you'll always hold that. But then someone like me, I went to the LA Rams, won a Super Bowl. But still, you just want that." Beckham had 390 catches for 5,476 yards and 44 touchdowns in five seasons with the Giants. He was a Pro Bowler in three of those five years and was the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2014 despite only playing 12 games. Jerry Rice had 346 catches for 6,364 yards and 66 touchdowns in his first five seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. He was an All-Pro in four of those five seasons and only missed four games in the 1987 season. Beckham's future is unclear. He parted ways with the Dolphins in the offseason.
