With the 2025 WNBA draft wrapped up, the conversation has now shifted to which rookie will dominate and emerge as the best in the upcoming season. Of course, the current favorite is Paige Bueckers, who went No. 1 overall to the Dallas Wings.
For some fans, however, the second pick of the draft has a legitimate chance to come out as a better player.

In a video shared by Draft Express on Instagram, Dominique Malonga — the Seattle Storm's No. 2 pick — was seen practicing her game in New York. The 19-year-old effortlessly made a couple of dunks and proceeded to drain several shots from beyond the arc.
Along with being touted as the female version of Victor Wembanyama, several fans also shared their belief that Malonga could just be the best player in the draft.

"Bro She already better than Paige," a commenter wrote.

Paige Bueckers is the sixth player to be selected as the No. 1 pick after winning a national championship in the same year. She led the Huskies to their first title in nine years and the program's 12th overall.
Meanwhile, Dominique Malonga has shown her versatility, length and explosiveness at the pro level in France. During the 2024-25 season with French club Lyon ASVEL Feminin, she averaged a double-double of 15.4 points and 10.3 rebounds, all while shooting 53.8 percent from the field.

It remains to be seen which of the two rookies will come out as the better WNBA player. In any case, fans can soon see them in action when the league starts its new season on May 16. The first matchup between Bueckers and Malonga is set for June 3 in Seattle.

Scotland 'door not closed' on players who miss out on World Cup

Scotland head coach Bryan Easson says he will not close the door on international rugby for those players who miss out on his squad for the Women's Rugby World Cup. Easson has named a 38-player training squad prior to the tournament in England this summer. Advertisement Among those to miss out was experienced lock Louise McMillan, who said in an Instagram post: "There was a slow dawning that despite injuries in my position, I wouldn't be recalled, confirming the painful truth that my journey with this coaching team was nearing its end. My World Cup dream, my professional contract, slipped from my grasp." Easson says there will always be tough decisions on who to leave out of the World Cup squad, but that it need not signal an end of Test careers. "These selections are very, very difficult," Easson told BBC Scotland. "But to leave out players now actually shows the strength of Scotland women's rugby. So some players who do have a legacy, some players who do have given a lot to Scotland women's rugby over the years, will miss out and it's always tough. Advertisement "But the door's never closed for those players. It's just a moment in time, it's a selection that we have to make, it's a selection that we believe at this moment in time is right. "No matter who they are, if they're playing well, they'll be the ones that are selected and that's how we have to push this team forward and that's how you get better performances on the field."

Ben Saraf: Official draft combine measurements revealed for Israeli guard

Ben Saraf: Official draft combine measurements revealed for Israeli guard Potential first-round pick Ben Saraf reportedly completed his anthropometric measurement testing ahead of the 2025 NBA draft, according to Jon Chepkevich of DraftExpress. Saraf is averaging 12.4 points, 4.3 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals on 45.2% shooting from the field in 55 games this season with ratiopharm Ulm in the German League. He has registered five 20-point games, including a 20-point, seven-assist performance on May 24. The 6-foot-7 Israeli guard is still competing in the playoffs with ratiopharm Ulm, who face Bayern Munich in the finals. He had a break in action, allowing him to complete his required predraft testing before beginning the series on Sunday in Ulm. Saraf was the 2024 Israeli League Premier Rising Star after emerging as the best young player with his team, Elitzur Kiryat Ata. He was also the Israeli National League Rising Star and Sixth Man of the Year with Elitzur Netanya in 2023. The 19-year-old is highly touted as a prospect because of his scoring ability, playmaking and court vision. He dazzles with his passing and innate ability to make pinpoint, cross-court passes off drives and in pick-and-roll situations. Saraf is among several international prospects in the draft. He will arrive late in the United States and could even miss the draft on June 25-26 as he competes for a championship in Germany.
