Former Blue Peter editor Biddy Baxter dies aged 92
She joined the public broadcaster as a radio studio manager in 1955, and was promoted to producing Schools Junior English programmes and Listen With Mother, before making the transition to television.
Baxter took over as editor of Blue Peter in 1965, several years after the programme's launch.
She introduced viewer engagement segments including the national appeals and the famous Blue Peter badge, encouraging children to send letters, pictures and programme ideas.
Baxter served as editor for more than two decades, winning two Bafta awards and receiving 12 nominations.
Upon her departure from the show in 1988, she was awarded the programme's highest honour, a gold Blue Peter Badge.
'I didn't want to do anything other than Blue Peter,' she told The Guardian in 2013.
'I certainly never wanted to be an administrator or in charge of anything.
'It was an absolute dream and I never wanted to do anything else.
'It was a terrific time to be in television.'
She continued to act as a consultant to BBC directors-general John Birt and Sir Michael Checkland after her departure, and received the special award at the Bafta Children's Awards in 2013.

Tom Hiddleston drops major hint about The Night Manager season 2 release date
The BBC's The Night Manager is set to return for a second series, with Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Jonathan Pine Viewers of BBC 's The Night Manager are anxiously awaiting the second series launch, and it appears the wait might soon be over. The six-episode espionage drama debuted in 2016 and became a massive success amongst television audiences. The programme draws from John le Carré 's 1993 novel bearing the identical title. Tom Hiddleston assumed the starring role of Jonathan Pine in The Night Manager, and he's set to return for both the upcoming second and third instalments. Whilst appearing on BBC's The One Show on Tuesday (19 August), Tom teased when audiences might anticipate the second season's arrival as presenters Roman Kemp and Clara Amfo shared viewer messages. Tom, joining The One Show alongside his The Life of Chuck co-stars Karen Gillan and Mark Hamill, learnt that someone had tweeted the BBC programme expressing their enthusiasm for The Night Manager, reports Wales Online. Gazing directly into the camera, the performer playfully declared over when the second series would be released: "Coming soon!" before beaming at Roman and Clara. Previously, it was revealed The Night Manager had received approval for second and third series from both the BBC and Amazon Prime Video, with Tom confirming his return to the forthcoming episodes. Additional information has remained largely confidential, though the second series will continue from where the original concluded, regardless of the considerable gap between both seasons. The Night Manager spins the tale of Jonathan, a night manager at a posh hotel in Cairo and an ex-British soldier.
