Nawazuddin Siddiqui says there's nothing wrong with actors dancing at weddings: 'We're all bhands'

Nawazuddin Siddiqui
has never shied away from speaking his mind, and in a recent chat on the All About Eve YouTube channel, he offered a candid take on how society views actors, especially when they perform at private events like weddings.
When asked if he would ever dance at a wedding, the
Sacred Games actor
didn't hesitate. 'Yes, why not? What's wrong with it?' he replied, adding that such performances are simply part of an actor's professional journey.

While many criticise Bollywood stars for dancing at lavish private events, Siddiqui believes there's nothing shameful about it.
He went on to reflect on how entertainers were once treated. Nawaz shared that historically, performers or bhands were looked down upon and even excluded from respectable society. 'They were seen as unfit; they were seen as people who didn't have any ideologies or beliefs… They would only be allowed to enter [villages] to perform, and then they'd be sent right back out.'
This perspective isn't unique to Siddiqui. Stars like
Akshay Kumar
and
Ranveer Singh
have previously joked about the frequency with which they're invited to dance at weddings. On
Koffee with Karan
,
Ranveer
recalled being told by Akshay, "Shaadi hai, main naach raha hoon; birthday hai, main naach raha hoon; mundan hai, bachcha ro raha hai, main naach raha hoon." The two actors have openly embraced the entertainment aspect of their celebrity status.

Rajeev Sen slams haters claiming he lives off sister Sushmita Sen's money: ‘Don't need to be SRK to prove my success'

Bollywood actor Sushmita Sen's brother, Rajeev Sen, has often grabbed headlines due to his personal life. The model and businessman, in his new vlog, addressed the comments from his critics, claiming that he lives off his sister's money and leads a lavish life while residing in his mother's house. (Also Read: Charu Asopa slams ex-husband Rajeev Sen for 'drama' jibe, says she is leaving Mumbai as her 'priorities have changed') Rajeev expressed that he exists in this world because of his family and wanted to respond to the frequent criticisms he receives. He spoke about the negative comments on his posts, accusing him of depending on his sister financially, living in his mother's home, and enjoying a luxurious lifestyle thanks to his parents. He clarified that he does not need to be a superstar to prove his worth or success. Discussing his business ventures, Rajeev said, "I have had a successful jewellery business for a long time. Yes, I am fortunate that a lot of it was given to me because it was my company, it was my parents' company. A lot of it was handed to me on a plate, but even in that scenario, I had to prove myself—that I can sell jewellery. Acting or production, YouTube just happened recently. This is just a passion project that I can afford to give time to because I have other ventures. I am a successful investor. I have earned a lot of money on my own and I am very proud of that fact." Rajeev stated that if his mother ever asked him to leave the house, he would do so and be on the street. While he acknowledged that the assets he personally owns belong to him, he made it clear that he would never claim to have earned the house through his own hard work, emphasising that it belongs to his mother and is the result of her efforts. He further slammed his critics, saying, 'You people don't even have the worth of ₹10. And even if—just assume for a moment—that I'm living a luxurious life, that my mum is signing cheques for me every month, my dad is giving me money, my sister is giving me cheques and telling me to enjoy life—even if that's true, what's your problem? If I'm a content creator, then enjoy my vlogs. If I'm showing my house or something lavish, am I taking money from your pocket? No, right? So please! It doesn't matter to me what you think. My small circle of friends is my family—my parents, close friends, and the people who genuinely love me. They are the ones who matter the most. I don't need to be a Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan to prove that I am successful.' In the same vlog, Rajeev also addressed questions about his personal life, revealing whether he provides financial support for his daughter Ziana and wife Charu Asopa. He further questioned Charu's decision to move to Bikaner with their daughter, leaving Mumbai, and stated that she would eventually return to the city.

Anurag Kashyap Asked Nawazuddin Siddiqui ‘Bewakuf Hai Kya Tu?' For Acting Like Al Pacino

Last Updated: Nawazuddin Siddiqui tried channeling Al Pacino for Gangs of Wasseypur until Anurag Kashyap advised him to be natural. Nawazuddin Siddiqui's iconic performance as Faisal Khan in Gangs of Wasseypur has stood the test of time, but few know the actor was initially influenced by Hollywood legends while stepping into the role. In a recent interview, he shared that on the first day of shooting, he had actually tried to act like Al Pacino—until director Anurag Kashyap stepped in and changed the course of his performance. In a chat with Filmfare, Nawazuddin Siddiqui recalled, 'I went on the first day acting like Al Pacino. I had thought about emulating him beforehand. Thoda bhoot chaaya hua tha. I used to have phases – Robert De Niro for three months, Al Pacino for three months, and Brando. He said, 'Bewakoof hai kya tu? Don't do that, you will become stiff and stuck at one place.'" He continued by sharing how Kashyap noticed something off about his performance and approached him after the day's shoot. 'I did the scenes Al Pacino style on the first day of shoot. Anurag came to my room at night and asked what am I upto. He said you are being very stiff, Al Pacino type. I told him that I wanted to show my power," he said. But it was Kashyap's grounded advice that really stuck with him. 'Anurag said that woh mera kaam hai, main tere peeche 6 foot ke log khade kardunga, apne aap powerful lagega (That's my work, I will put tall men behind you, you will look powerful). Don't do anything, be normal. I couldn't sleep the whole night. I felt that he was right." Taking the director's words to heart, Siddiqui approached the character with a more natural mindset the following day. 'The very next day, I went and forgot everything. Bhaad mein jaaye, main Nawaz hu, main jaisa dikhta hu vaisa hi jaakar karunga." The transformation clearly worked. Gangs of Wasseypur, directed by Anurag Kashyap, became both a box-office hit and a critical success. Nawazuddin's portrayal of Faisal Khan became one of the most memorable characters in Indian cinema. The ensemble cast included standout performances by Manoj Bajpayee, Huma Qureshi, Richa Chadha, Pankaj Tripathi, and Jaideep Ahlawat, helping cement the film's cult status. First Published:

Vikramaditya Motwane has a mic-drop reaction to Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos' comment on Sacred Games. See pic

After Anurag Kashyap, director Vikramaditya Motwane has defended their show Sacred Games. This comes after Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos, in a podcast with Nikhil Kamath, said he was unsure whether Netflix debuting with Sacred Games was the right idea, adding that they should have started with something more 'populist' instead. (Also read: Anurag Kashyap calls Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos 'dumb' for take on Sacred Games: 'Should have started with saas bahu') Vikram took to his Instagram stories and shared IMDb's 'The 50 Most Popular Indian Web Series of All Time'. Sacred Games topped the list with an average of 8.5 stars compiled from 95,000 reviews. He circled the most popular part in the headline and added a mic drop meme to the story. On the WTF podcast with Nikhil Kamath, Ted Sarandos said, 'Our very first Indian original show was Sacred Games. And I thought, 'This is going to be great. People in India love movies. This is a TV show that feels as big as a movie, it has movie stars.' What's interesting about it is that it was very, very novel, but what I didn't understand was that we were introducing a brand new kind of entertainment in a country the size of India,' he said. 'For me, if I did it all over again, would I have done Sacred Games a couple of years later, and did things that were more populist (instead)? Maybe. But we knew that India was going to be a slower journey to get to where we wanted to go. But it's a great prize, at the end of the day. The addressable market is growing in the next couple of years in India, so it's exciting," he added. Sharing a screengrab of a news report on Ted's statement, Kashyap took to Threads and wrote, 'He should have started with Saas Bahu .. he would have done well. Which he is doing now Z. I always knew the tech guys are dumb when it comes to story telling but ted sarandos is the definition of dumb is what I didn't know . Good to discover that. This explains everything now. (sic)' Sacred Games was Netflix India's first original. Directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane, it starred Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui and was received positively upon its release in 2018. Season 2, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, opened to mixed reviews, and the show was cancelled thereafter.
