Shah Alam organiser summoned by MAIS over immoral acts in 2022
Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad, director of the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS), confirmed that a former participant had lodged a report in 2022. The organiser was instructed to revise certain modules to align with Islamic principles. However, no reports were filed regarding the recent viral allegations of misconduct at a convention centre in September last year.
Mohd Shahzihan stated that JAIS will summon individuals on Tuesday (July 15) to assist in the investigation. The department is collaborating with the police and will probe the matter under Section 7 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Selangor) Enactment 1995, which addresses false doctrines.
'JAIS takes such matters seriously and will act against any activity contradicting Islamic law and ethical values,' he said. The public is urged to share information via JAIS' hotline at 1800-88-2424 or by visiting their office. - Bernama

The report said Vadi had 'committed a wide range of crimes against the country's internal and external security which have caused severe disruption to public order'. Woman loses bid to drop charge over gun supplied to Israeli national
Selangor prosecutors have rejected representations by Sharifah Faraha Syed Husin to have her gun possession charge dropped. (Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : Selangor prosecutors have rejected representations by a woman seeking to have a charge against her for possessing a pistol, allegedly supplied to Israeli national Avitan Shalom, withdrawn. Deputy public prosecutor Azamuddin Razak informed the sessions court today of the decision during mention of Sharifah Faraha Syed Husin's case before judge Nurul Mardhiah Redza. 'The representations submitted by Sharifah Faraha to the Selangor prosecution to have her charge dropped has been rejected,' Azamuddin told the court, which fixed Oct 6, 7, 8, 13 and 17 for the trial. Sharifah Faraha, 42, was represented by counsel Radzuan Ibrahim. Azamuddin said the prosecution would call 10 witnesses to testify during the trial. On April 8, 2024, Sharifah Faraha pleaded not guilty to a charge of possessing a CZ 75 P‑01 CAL.9 Luger pistol at a house in Kampung Bukit Belimbing, Kuala Selangor, at 8pm on March 29, 2024. She was charged under Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 14 years and a minimum six strokes of the cane, upon conviction. On June 5, her husband, Azim Yasin, 44, pleaded guilty to a related charge and was sentenced by the same court to 10 years' imprisonment and six strokes of the cane. According to the charge, Azim was with Sharifah Faraha under circumstances that gave reasonable grounds to believe he knew she was in possession of the firearm at the same location, date and time. He was charged under Section 9 of the same Act, which prescribes a similar penalty. On Feb 26, Avitan was sentenced by the Kajang sessions court to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to possessing 200 rounds of ammunition and six firearms. Avitan, 39, was charged with committing the offence in a hotel room at Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, between 6.46pm on March 26 and 6pm on March 28 last year.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 — Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng today questioned how a man with 44 criminal records was still roaming freely in the city before being shot dead by police in an early morning shootout on Jalan Bukit Tunku. The suspect, a 36-year-old believed to be the mastermind of a robbery and housebreaking gang, was killed during a reported shootout when police intercepted his BMW at 4.10am. Lim said while he fully supported the swift and decisive action by the police, the real concern was how someone with a long history of criminal offences, including drug cases, could still pose a danger to public safety. 'Clearly, our enforcement and judicial systems are failing if serial offenders can continue to threaten the public without any restrictions,' he said in a statement. According to police, the suspect had been linked to break-ins and robberies in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Perak since last year, involving losses exceeding RM1 million. He further urged that the police be equipped with body cameras and dashboard cameras to ensure transparency and safety during future operations. 'The people have a right to know what is dysfunctional in this system,' he said. Lim also warned that unless immediate reforms are made, others like the suspect may continue slipping through the cracks, putting more lives at risk.
