The suspect, a 36-year-old believed to be the mastermind of a robbery and housebreaking gang, was killed during a reported shootout when police intercepted his BMW at 4.10am.
Lim said while he fully supported the swift and decisive action by the police, the real concern was how someone with a long history of criminal offences, including drug cases, could still pose a danger to public safety.
'Clearly, our enforcement and judicial systems are failing if serial offenders can continue to threaten the public without any restrictions,' he said in a statement.
According to police, the suspect had been linked to break-ins and robberies in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Perak since last year, involving losses exceeding RM1 million.

A search of the suspect's vehicle uncovered a revolver, burglary tools, a police vest, and a fake registration number on the car, believed to have been smuggled from abroad.
Lim called on authorities to explain how such a high-risk individual avoided detention and continued operating in the capital despite his known record.
He further urged that the police be equipped with body cameras and dashboard cameras to ensure transparency and safety during future operations.
'The people have a right to know what is dysfunctional in this system,' he said.
Lim also warned that unless immediate reforms are made, others like the suspect may continue slipping through the cracks, putting more lives at risk.

Bukit Aman CCID director Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said that, so far, the department has not received any official report regarding the incident. 'We urge the individual involved to come forward and lodge a report directly with the CCID, to enable a proper investigation to be conducted,' he said during a press conference held at Menara KPJ, here, today. On Wednesday, the media reported that Rita had posted on her Threads account, stating that her younger sibling had received a suspicious package at her residence. According to the post, although the parcel was addressed to her younger sibling's home, the name of the recipient was unfamiliar to them. 'The latest scam — even our home address is no longer safe. Kuantan man gets eight months in jail for slashing cop with machete during disturbance
KUANTAN, Aug 8 — A grass-cutter was sentenced to eight months in prison after pleading guilty in the Magistrate's Court here today to injuring a police corporal with a machete last Saturday. Magistrate Ellyna Othman passed the sentence on Muhamad Firdaus Abdul Hamid, 37, and ordered his jail term to start from the date of his arrest on August 2. Muhammad Firdaus was charged with intentionally causing harm to Corporal Muhammad Shafril Izzwan Ismail, 37, using a machete and two smaller machetes, which could have caused death. The incident occurred on August 2 at 5.15pm in front of a house in Felda Bukit Kuantan. The charge was framed under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years' imprisonment, a fine, or whipping, or any combination of these upon conviction. Deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Firdaus Ahmad Mokhlis urged the court to impose a fitting sentence, considering the public interest and to deter the accused from repeating the offence. Defence counsel Mohd Azlan Mohd Arish@Arshad, from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK), informed that the accused is single and earns RM70 a day. Earlier reports indicated that Corporal Shafril Izzwan was attacked with a machete, sustaining injuries to his back, chin, and left hand, by a man believed to be mentally unstable.
