A Child Underneath It All
After a brief flashback discussing our dreams as children, episode 7 of Our Unwritten Seoul begins with Mi-rae and Se-ji together during the storm. Unfortunately, Mi-rae's stomach growls, stopping any potential romantic implications.
Mi-rae also finds documents that confirm he's the famous Han Se-jin from Ihan Asset Management. Mi-rae has heard about this guy and he's a pretty big deal in the financial world. This is something Mi-rae obviously knows a thing or two about! She gushes over his skills and the rumours swirling about him and how good he was at his job.
There are numerous rumours about his prowess and reasons for quitting though, and he promises to tell her in a few days exactly why he quit. As for Se-jin, he wants to cut into the core of Mi-rae's issues, but she's still a bit of a closed book.
Meanwhile, Ho-su finds himself in a difficult spot. During the negotiations, Ho-su stands by Ro-sa and refuses to even negotiate with Chung-gu, flat out refusing to sell. He knows there's a reason beyond this though and he intends to figure that out.
Chung-gu also questions Ho-su's motivations here, promising that in the end, he'll get his way. Ho-su knows that Chung-gu is stubborn and later in the episode he seems to stumble upon a bit of a smoking gun.
Chung-gu gdoes some digging and finds out that Ro-sa grew up alone in an orphanage and appears to have no relatives except for a son. Apparently, her husband was murdered by Sang-wol, who grew up in the orphanage with her, and was tried in court for domestic violence. She got a reduced sentence thanks to Ro-sa's statement but Sang-wol is now deceased.
This could well be linked into the deeper issue that Ro-sa is not willing to sell.
Meanwhile, Mi-ji's awkward coffee meet with Ho-su is interrupted when Ji-yun messages and asks to meet. Before she shows up though, Mi-ji is confronted by a strange woman who calls her out for still being at work. This is Park Sang-yeong's wife, the guy whom we've been hearing hints about inappropriate work behaviour for a few episodes during flashes.
The rumours themselves claim that Mi-rae was having an affair with her boss and unfortunately a big fight spilled out in the company lobby when Park's wife found out. Rumours spread like wildfire and while no one knows the full story, its a massive deal and could also be why she considered suicide at one point.
Sang-yeong's wife threatens Mi-ji (as Mi-rae) until Ji-yun shows up and reveals the twins' secret.
It turns out Ji-yun has been testing Mi-ji this whole time and figured it out when she mentioned that Ji-yun sounded mature in Ro-sa's basement. She knows this isn't like Mi-rae but with the secret out, she remains closed about whether Ho-su knows or not (which he does, obviously).
Ho-su also figures out about the 'affair' which was framed as a sexual assault allegation until Mi-rae withdrew her complaint, worried about rumours spreading.
Ho-su shows up to see Mi-rae (who's pretending to be Mi-ji) and wants to know the truth. Unfortunately, they don't get far because their mums come to blows on the stairwell and wind up in hospital.
I mean, to be honest it's Kim Ok-Hui's fault here for essentially calling Ho-su a burden. She promises retribution against Bun-hong after having her hair pulled, but the whole thing is just petty to be honest.
Outside, awkwardness ensues when Mi-ji and Mi-rae both find themselves crossing paths with Ho-su and Se-jin when they show up. Se-jin invites them all out for something to eat and as they talk about facts, it winds up a bit of a minefield for the twins.
It's only when they finish eating that Mi-rae decides they need to switch back immediately. She drops the bombshell that Ho-su already knows about their switch and it makes their earlier coffee meet-up, where she discusses Mi-ji's feelings, that much funnier.
Over at the strawberry farm, Mi-rae says goodbye to Se-jin, in a roundabout way at least. She completely underestimates his experience, especially when she talks about the troubles she's had juggling work and family responsibilities.
As they talk, Se-jin also brings up an incident with his grandfather where he ignored his calls to press on with a life or death decision for their business. Unfortunately, this was also life or death for his grandfather, who passed away from heatstroke in the middle of the farm.
When he died, Se-jin felt broken and he fell apart. This is why he quit but the swirling rumours certainly doesn't bother him. However, he continues to honour his grandfather as best he can.
Mi-rae clears the air with Ho-su afterwards, while Gyeong-gu does the same with Mi-ji. They bond over his new tattoo and discuss Ho-su's love for her and the dilemma she faces over whether to tell Ho-su how she feels right now.
Gyeong-gu plays the matchmaker and figures out how Ho-su really feels when he barges over to hers that night. He's determined to bring them together but Ho-su keeps procrastinating, talking about 'later'. Gyeong-gu is quick to assure him that there's no such thing as a perfect timing, and he even pats himself on the back for this great line afterwards!
Elsewhere, Mi-rae decides to take the plunge and starts writing up her resignation letter. As she does, she decides they should post-pone switching over for a while. Mi-rae mentions the difficulties she's had believing she's good enough and basically describes imposter syndrome.
Letting this job go is akin to how Mi-ji has felt when her athletic career was brought to an end. She's not just starting over, but also coming to terms with the fact she's never going to find something as big or prolific as this. role This explains the inner turmoil and why she's suffered for so long.
Elsewhere, Ok-hui receives a call from Wol-Sun, concerned about her wellbeing. However, she decides to just hang up on her instead.
As the episode closes out, Ho-su brings Mi-ji outside and decides to take the plunge and admits that he likes her.
The Episode Review
So Hio-su finally takes the plunge and tells Mi-ji exactly how he feels about her. Seeing Gyeong-gu play the matchmaker is a great inclusion and his bond with Mi-ji takes on a new dimension now that we know the truth about him and his love life.
As for Mi-rae, her chat with Se-jin is incredibly eye-opening as they both touch on imposter syndrome, along with the impossible choice of juggling familial responsibilities with work. The show does a good job of bringing this to light with an understanding of how difficult that choice can be, along with the idea of suffering in silence when everything falls apart.
Mi-rae has clearly felt like this for a long time and while quitting her job is the best thing she can possibly do, it's also something she's struggling to follow through with.
Funnily enough, this is also what Ho-su has been through too quitting the law firm, although he had more confidence to just hand his notice in and be done with it.
It does take a lot of courage to turn away from a stable income and a good job. It's very scary to take that plunge into the unknown. As someone with experience doing that, quitting a high-paying insurance job to build TheReviewGeek from the ground up, it's very difficult but not necessarily the end of the road!
Our Unwritten Seoul has done well to capture these themes, and to be honest I can't help but feel Ok-hui has a lot to answer for here. She's cold and emotionless with the kids, and it's no wonder that they've both grown up with their own issues. How can you not tell your own kids apart?
Hopefully she'll learn some humility in the episodes ahead. But for now, this K-drama continues to deliver the goods.

MasterChef stars' secret relationship revealed: Sarah Todd and Declan Cleary share details about their romance

It seems love is in the air at the MasterChef Australia kitchen as two contestants from the Back To Win season have fallen head over heels. Sarah Todd and Declan Cleary, who have been battling it out on screen, have come clean about their secret romance, revealing that they have already moved in together following the high-pressure show. Speaking to this week's Stellar Magazine, Declan revealed that the pair 'instantly got along', which saw them spend lots of time together behind the scenes. However, it wasn't until 38-year-old Sarah landed in an elimination challenge that Declan's feelings became apparent, and he knew he needed to tell her how he felt. 'As she's walking into the elimination [challenge], I said, "Sarah, can I ask you something? Would you like to go on a date with me?" And she just looked at me and said, "You're a bloody idiot",' he said. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. While the poorly-timed invitation didn't land the way he thought it would, Sarah eventually came around to the idea of them together. 'After I got through the stress of the elimination and had a couple of days to recover, I realised it made sense,' she said. For their first date, the pair visited Grampians National Park for a romantic weekend away, exploring markets, eating at picturesque restaurants and going for walks in the central Victoria highlands. Now, after wrapping filming on the show, Declan has made the move from Sydney's Northern Beaches to Melbourne - along with his dog Sol - to be with Sarah and her 14-year-old son Phoenix. The romance comes after a supposed spoiler revealed the winner of the current Back To Win season, sending fans into a frenzy. Taking to Reddit, one fan of the beloved cooking show pointed out on Tuesday that the promotional picture on the network's streaming service 10Play featured mostly eliminated contestants, leading them to wonder whether it shone a light on who the winner would be. 'Has anyone noticed how many contestants on this advert for Masterchef on 10Play app has already been eliminated??' the Reddit user captioned the screenshot. 'Darsh, Steph, Sav and Tim all eliminated... could this be a sign?' they asked. The fan then went on to predict who may be facing the chopping block next based on the poster. 'Maybe Laura and Declan will be out the door soon too??' Other MasterChef devotees flooded the comments of the Reddit post with their takes on the theory. One person noted that the adverts were probably made before filming had commenced and therefore randomly fronted. 'Think someone mentioned it already but [by] the time they made this [ad], they haven't finished their filming. Thus they just putted [sic] random people on the pic. ' Another person theorised that they used the most popular faces of the show for the poster. 'I think they just use whoever is most popular / easy to attract viewers in rather than based on who makes it far (plus it's already mentioned these are done before filming is done). Steph has a huge IG following so makes sense why she's front and centre.' 'Laura definitely won't go before top 10,' another person confidently predicted.

Inside Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas' intimate date nights at exclusive London club as romance heats up

and Ana de Armas have reportedly enjoyed date nights at an exclusive club in London on multiple occasions amid ongoing romance rumors. The pair taken their date nights to London and spent a number evenings together 'a couple of times over the past two months' at the ultra-exclusive, members-only club, Annabel's. The insider told Page Six that the two actors seemed enamored by each other during their date nights at the swanky, luxe locale as their romance heats up. 'Tom looks enchanted by her,' the source claimed. 'And she looks very happy with him.' The ritzy club is known to have two private dining rooms and has seen the likes of royalty as well as A-lister stars such as Kate Moss, Lady Gaga and Harry Styles. The celebrity hotspot features two private dining rooms, one decorated with flowers and another called the Silver Room. Cruise and de Armas are said to have dined in one of the private rooms on more than one occasion in the past weeks. This comes shortly after the Ballerina star sang high praises over his rave review of her new movie — despite the John Wick spin-off underperforming at the box office. This comes shortly after de Armas revealed that she and Cruise have been collaborating and working closely together. 'We're definitely working on a lot of things,' she said on Good Morning America back in May. 'Not just one but a few projects with Doug Liman and Christopher McQuarrie.' On the daytime talk show, she gushed that she was 'so excited' to collaborate with the Top Gun star as well as the aforementioned, acclaimed director and filmmaker, respectively. Cruise and the Blonde star were first romantically linked earlier this year in February when they were spotted for what was reportedly a professional dinner in London. The following month, they were pictured with cheeky smiles on both of their faces after their flight landed at the London Heliport. That alleged work meeting as well as many others fueled rumors that the pair were more than just coworkers. In April, the pair were spotted arriving together in London again to spend de Armas' 37th birthday together before fans spotted them on a romantic stroll through the park that same week. In mid-May, an insider spoke about how Cruise is 'super smitten' with de Armas even though it is still early into their romance. 'It's low-key, still new and in the early stages,' a source told Us Weekly. 'Their romance is definitely on the down low.' The insider also mentioned that one of Cruise's exes 'raved' about de Armas, and the source also explained how the Cuban-born actress' romance with him came to be. 'Penelope [Cruz] put in a good word for her both personally and professionally.' Cruz and Cruise previously dated for three years after starring together in Vanilla Sky in 2001. Their relationship ended in early 2004, but the pair have remained friends, per the source. Meanwhile, Cruz and de Armas became friends after working on the 2019 film Wasp Network together. The source also revealed how the romance between de Armas and Cruise came to be. The insider said they originally met up to discuss work-related matters in February before their 'relationship developed.' Cruise was reportedly 'super smitten' with de Armas immediately and it quickly 'developed into feelings' for her; pictured May in Seoul Cruise was reportedly 'super smitten' with de Armas immediately and it quickly 'developed into feelings' for her. 'They've gone out on some dates, and it's very low-key,' the insider added about the couple who have been romantically linked since February. 'It's in the early stages and he's been courting her.' The source added that Cruise is 'really into her' before adding that the feeling is mutual, though de Armas is being 'more cautious' and is taking things slow. 'She isn't looking for anything to move too fast,' the source said. 'She's taking it really slow. It's very private. They are protecting themselves from the intense media scrutiny.' Friends believe the relationship could last, a source told — with our insider pointing to the fact that de Armas does 'not like to party,' preferring quiet nights at home like her decades-older boyfriend. Though another source stressed that the pair are 'taking it day-by-day' and that de Armas 'does not give her heart away easy.' 'Ana has a thing for older men, and Tom fits the bill of her type. The proof is in the pudding. Being affectionate with someone is not something that Ana would do for a role,' the second source added.
