
Arson suspected after fire breaks out at popular burger restaurant in Etobicoke: police
Police say arson is suspected in connection with a fire that broke out at a popular burger restaurant in Etobicoke early Tuesday morning.
Crews were called to The Burger's Priest, located at 1599 The Queensway, near The East Mall, at around 3:15 a.m. for an interior fire that had migrated to the roof.
All flames have now been extinguished and crews remain on scene monitoring hot spots.
A fire investigator has been notified, a spokesperson for Toronto Fire told CP24. Police are also currently on scene.
No one was inside the building at the time and no injuries have been reported.

Police charged Hamilton man for Brant County theft

8 dogs seized from Oshawa home, man charged with animal cruelty

In a news release on Tuesday, Durham police said they received reports of a man physically abusing a dog and executed a search warrant on July 8 at his house in the area of Stevenson Road South and Montcalm Avenue. During the search, eight dogs were seized including the canine that had been abused, police said. There is no word on the condition of the dog. All dogs were taken by Animal Welfare Services and are being assessed and medically treated. The man is facing a charge of willfully cause unnecessary pain or suffering or injury to an animal. Police said he was released on an undertaking.

Victim loses $5,000 in romance scam
A Tillsonburg individual has been scammed out of $5,000 after sending money to someone online. Police were notified on Monday about the fraud, which involved an online romance. The suspect began an online relationship with the victim and convinced them to send money for a flight home. After the victim sent the money, the suspect asked for more. A relative of the victim urged them to call police. Police are encouraging the public to remain vigilant when meeting people online.
