Delhi Metro tickets now available on more than 10 popular apps. Here's the list.
Travellers can now book Delhi Metro tickets through more than 10 widely-used apps, including Google Maps, redBus, Rapido, EaseMyTrip, and Namma Yatri, following the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's (DMRC) integration with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
The service is also available on Chartr, Highway Delite, OneTicket, Tummoc, Yatri Railways, and a Telegram bot operated by Miles & Kilometres.
Vikas Kumar, Managing Director, DMRC, Thursday said, 'This partnership with ONDC is part of our effort to simplify metro travel and bring it into the digital spaces people already use every day.'
'By offering ticketing through multiple familiar apps, we are removing the friction that often comes with transit access,' he added.
According to a DMRC spokesperson, this integration is the first such large-scale rollout by an urban transit system in India and marks a step towards building open, interoperable digital infrastructure for mobility. DMRC went live on the ONDC Network in November 2024 in a soft launch.
Enabled through a single-point integration, the ticketing system allows metro journeys to be planned alongside inter-city or local transport. For instance, a traveller arriving by bus from Jaipur to ISBT Kashmere Gate can now book both their bus and metro ticket via redBus. Similarly, users of the Rapido app can plan a bike ride to the metro station, book the metro journey, and then complete the last leg via the same app.
'The integration of DMRC into the ONDC Network illustrates how open digital ecosystems can enable broader, more seamless access to public services,' said Vibhor Jain, Acting Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer, ONDC. 'By connecting once to the Network, DMRC can now offer ticketing across a range of everyday apps without needing custom integrations for each one,' he added.
The DMRC spokesperson emphasised that this collaboration aligns with the metro's broader digital vision of simplifying the commuter experience while expanding its service footprint.

Rapido eyes Goa expansion, lauds state's bike taxi rules
Bike taxi and auto aggregator Rapido is gearing up to launch its services in Goa, actively reviewing the state's newly introduced Transport Aggregator Guidelines, 2025. With operations already spanning over 215 cities and ambitious plans to reach 500 by year-end, the company sees significant potential in the tourism-driven state. In an exclusive conversation with The Hindu, Pavan Guntupalli, Co-founder of Rapido, shared his insights on Goa's regulatory framework and the company's vision for the region. He lauded the state's proactive approach, stating, 'Goa's move to formalise bike taxi operations is very progressive. Interestingly, Goa had the concept of bike taxis as early as 1991, making it one of the most forward-thinking states in this regard.' Mr. Guntupalli believes 'the new aggregator guidelines will enable the digital transportation economy, which aligns well' with the company's mission. While Rapido is not yet operational in Goa, the company is poised for a swift rollout. 'We are waiting for the formalisation of the guidelines. Once that happens, we will enter the market,' Mr. Guntupalli confirmed, adding, 'While we don't have a specific timeline yet, we are ready to launch as soon as the framework is finalised.' He highlighted the strong existing preference for two-wheelers, noting, 'For a population of 1.5 million, there are approximately 8 lakh bikes.' (For top technology news of the day, subscribe to our tech newsletter Today's Cache) The Goa Transport Aggregator Guidelines, 2025, stipulate several requirements, including a branch office in Goa, local data storage (or on Indian servers) for three years, and a ₹10 lakh health insurance for drivers (extending to parents and children for female drivers). Aggregators are also barred from preventing drivers from joining multiple platforms and must settle payments to vehicle owners within 72 hours without deductions. Regarding these regulations, such as the ₹5 lakh fee and data storage, Mr. Guntupalli emphasised a collaborative approach. 'We see these regulations as part of a collaborative process. Rapido has completed over two billion rides in the past decade and operates in multiple states, so we bring a wealth of experience to the table.' On data specifically, he affirmed, 'Rapido is an Indian company with deep local roots. We are fully aligned with storing data locally and ensuring compliance with government policies.' Safety remains a cornerstone of Rapido's operations. 'For tourists unfamiliar with Goa's roads, we offer features like real-time ride tracking, driver verification, and proactive alerts if something seems off during the ride,' he detailed. The company plans a comprehensive rollout, aiming 'to provide transportation solutions not just in urban areas but also in smaller towns.' Mr. Guntupalli is optimistic about existing taxi unions in the state. 'Unlike 2013, when platforms like ours were new, today we have data-backed evidence showing that joining Rapido improves earnings by at least 30%,' he said. 'Moreover, Rapido operates on a zero-commission model, which directly benefits captains.' A key initiative for Goa will be 'Rapido Pink,' a service by women captains for women riders. 'Yes, we see great potential for Rapido the limited job opportunities for women in Goa, especially in tourism, Rapido Pink can create meaningful employment while ensuring safety and convenience for female riders,' Guntupalli highlighted, noting its success in cities like Chennai. Differentiating itself from competitors, Rapido will lean on its 'zero-commission model and focus on affordability, safety, and convenience,' coupled with its 'extensive experience in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.' As Goa moves towards finalising its guidelines, Rapido stands ready. 'We are excited about the opportunity to contribute to Goa's transportation ecosystem,' Guntupalli concluded. 'Our goal is to collaborate with the government and ensure that the new policies benefit all stakeholders—tourists, locals, and captains alike.'

On waiting list for train ticket?Websites offer three-fold refund assurance
While preparing for summer holidays, people often face the uncertainty of being on waiting lists for train tickets. As help, travel websites Ixigo, RedBus and MakeMyTrip have rolled out a new feature, 'ticket confirmation assurance,' which offers up to three times money-back guarantee in case your ticket isn't confirmed. What is 'confirmation assurance' This new feature is designed for people booking waitlisted train tickets. Travellers can choose an optional "assurance" while booking tickets and get either a confirmed alternative travel option or a refund of up to 3x the ticket cost, depending on the terms of the platform. The assurance plan acts like a travel insurance policy for uncertain train bookings. If your ticket doesn't get confirmed by the time of chart preparation, the platforms will: Try to arrange an alternative confirmed train or bus ticket Or refund up to three times the cost you paid for your ticket and assurance How it works The feature is available across the major travel booking apps. Here's how it typically functions: Ixigo: Offers 2x or 3x money-back guarantee options during train ticket booking for waitlisted passengers. RedBus: Tries to auto-book an alternative bus ticket if the train ticket remains unconfirmed. MakeMyTrip: Gives multiple assurance options including refunds or alternative travel based on availability. This service usually comes with an added cost, the 'assurance fee', which depends on the ticket type, travel date, and platform. Why this matters for travellers With high demand for train tickets, especially during holidays and festivals, waitlists are a common headache for Indian travellers. According to IRCTC trends, thousands of passengers are left stranded due to unconfirmed bookings. This assurance offers peace of mind and helps avoid last-minute cancellations or expensive alternatives. For families, elderly travellers or those with fixed travel plans, the value of a confirmed seat or a full refund can be significant. Important to know The refund or alternate ticket depends on the terms and conditions of each platform. The assurance fee is non-refundable even if the ticket gets confirmed. Users must claim within the specified window for eligibility.
