His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani patronised the opening of the fifth edition of the Qatar Economic Forum, Powered by Bloomberg, held under the theme 'The Road to 2030: Transforming the Global Economy,' at Katara Towers – Raffles and Fairmont Hotels – on Tuesday morning.
HH the Amir emphasised that the Qatar Economic Forum has evolved into a prominent global platform and a vital gathering place for experts, thought leaders and decision-makers. HH the Amir extended his best wishes for the success of the forum and for all participants.
In a post on X platform, HH the Amir said: 'Today, I was pleased to inaugurate the fifth edition of Qatar Economic Forum. Since its inception nearly four years ago in partnership with Bloomberg, the forum has grown into an influential global platform and a hub for experts, thought leaders, and decision-makers. I followed with great interest some of the discussions and perspectives shared on critical economic, geopolitical, and technological topics. I wish the forum success and good luck to all participants.'
Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani delivered the opening address. The opening ceremony was attended by President of the Republic of Benin Patrice Talon.
Also in attendance were Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Speaker of the Shura Council HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, along with ministers representing sisterly and friendly countries, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the State of Qatar, high-ranking officials, parliamentarians, intellectuals, economists, business leaders, media professionals, representatives of regional and international organizations, and guests of the forum.

QNA Doha The Cabinet has approved a draft memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Interior (MoI) of the State of Qatar and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the United States of America regarding security cooperation. The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani on Wednesday, also approveda draft memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Interior of the State of Qatar and the Department of Homeland Security in the United States of America regarding the 2026 FIFA World Cup. It also gave the nod to a draft memorandum of understanding in the field of law enforcement between the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) in the State of Qatar and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation. At the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet extended sincere greetings to His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the occasion of Eid Al Adha, asking Allah Almighty to return this blessed occasion for His Highness with the best of health and wellness, and for the State of Qatar and its people further development and prosperity under the wise leadership of HH the Amir, as well as the Arab and Islamic nations with goodness and blessings. The Cabinet reviewed the topics on its agenda, noting the Shura Council's approval of a draft law extending the concession granted to Mowasalat (Karwa), a Qatari joint stock company, to manage and operate taxis. The Cabinet also approved a draft agreement on mutual administrative assistance for the optimal application of customs law and for the suppression, investigation and combating of customs violations between the governments of the State of Qatar and the Republic of Tunisia. The Cabinet approved a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in legal fields between the Ministry of Justice in the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Justice in the Republic of Albania, a draft memorandum of understanding on joint cooperation between the Public Prosecution in the State of Qatar and the Public Prosecution in the Arab Republic of Egypt, and a draft memorandum of understanding in the field of cultural heritage preservation between the Qatar Museums in the State of Qatar and the Hong Kong Palace Museum in Hong Kong, People's Republic of China.

Qatar reiterates firm support for Syria's unity, sovereignty

QNA Doha Qatar has reiterated its firm and supportive stances on the unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, as well as on the realisation of the aspirations of its fraternal people for a dignified life and the building of a state of institutions and law. This came as Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani received a high-level Syrian ministerial delegation headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic HE Asaad Hassan Al Shaibani, accompanied by seven ministers, in Doha on Tuesday. The visit comes within the framework of strengthening the solid fraternal relations and bilateral cooperation between the two countries. At the outset of the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates conveyed the greetings of President of the Syrian Arab Republic HE Ahmed Al Sharaa to His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his wishes for the State of Qatar, its government, and people, continued progress and prosperity. The Syrian minister also expressed Syria's deep appreciation for the State of Qatar's initiatives and continuous efforts in support of the reconstruction process in Syria, praising Qatar's firm stances toward supporting the Syrian people. In turn, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed the greetings of HH the Amir to the president of the Syrian Arab Republic, and His Highness' wishes for continued health and happiness for His Excellency, and for continued progress and prosperity for the government and people of the Syrian Arab Republic. The meeting discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries, emphasising the depth of fraternal ties that unite them and their mutual commitment to strengthening and developing cooperation in various areas of common interest. The meeting also discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation in the energy, economy, trade, finance, tourism, communications, information technology, higher education, development, and other sectors, including: • Support and supply the Syrian Arab Republic with electricity. • Settling the Syrian Arab Republic's debt to the World Bank, jointly by the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. • Providing joint financial support from the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the salaries of public sector workers in the Syrian Arab Republic for a period of three months. The Qatari side reiterated the State of Qatar's firm and supportive stances on the unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, as well as on the realization of the aspirations of its fraternal people for a dignified life and the building of a state of institutions and law. It also categorically rejected any attempts to undermine Syria's unity or undermine its national sovereignty. For its part, the Syrian side affirmed its pride in the State of Qatar's supportive stance towards the Syrian people, praising its supportive role at various stages and reiterating the Syrian Arab Republic's commitment to the principles of respecting the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs.
